Yes, Tell your Mom to say "Hi" if she sees any of us ribbon bearing farmgirls. We'd love to meet her. And please give me a buzz if you want to get together during the holiday time when you are in Spokane. Please email me for my phone #. You will love us (if I do say so myself! LOL!) We are just a bunch of girls that want to have fun. I think we could dream up mischief to do everyday if it weren't for those pesky words like "responsibility" or "family" . . . LOL!

Hey gals...I am headed over to meet up with ya' all on Saturday. Love quilt shows and have not been to a big one for some time. If any of my Chapter gals can come I'll bring 'em along, if this is okay! We are in the 'outlying' area, Post Falls and Coeur d' Alene.

So glad you are coming! Yes, bring the other gals if they can come. I'd love to see them again! And yes, I'd like my legs back . . . walking without the 4 of them is so difficult! LOL! I know the rest of you are waiting for us to explain this, but it is so much funner this way!!

So it looks like at this point we have Alee, Amanda, Pamela and myself on Saturday and on Sunday we have Judy and Grace. Anyone else want to tie one on with us (a ribbon, silly girls . . . what did you think I meant??!!

So it is looking like it is "legs" and I.
The story on the legs is this: I was at Brenda's antique sale and she had some great looking legs...stove legs that is. I thought they might work on an old stove I was given. So I took them home to check and see if they would work...but no they are not the right style. So she gets her "legs" back when I see her again on Saturday.

You girls have a grand time seeing all those quilts. Take pictures if you can, can't remember if that is allowed. Posted to let other girls know what you were going, hope some can join up with you. Not sure I physically can this year.

Yeah! Ursula! I've been looking for you! Glad to hear from you! Looks like Saturday is down to Pamela and I and Sunday is Judy and Grace and maybe Amanda.
I'm trying to remember if they allow photos or not?! Pamela is not named Photobugs for nothing. She does amazing photography and I am sure if they allow pics, they will make it on her blog. I now have a camera on my cell phone. If they don't allow pics, I could accidently be fumbling with my cell phone, when somehow the camera just "goes off" . . .

ooohhhhhh! you crafty little farmgirl! I too have a camera cell phone, but darned if I know how to use it! oh sure, where is a 'tweenager' when ya need one!
oh & fyi, I am also t.v. remote challenged... when my DH traveled back to Calif. I could only watch 2 channels on the little portable t.v. 'cause i could not figure out how to use the satelite t.v.remote, i would either get sound & no pic or nothing at all!!! uugghhh! I so miss the good old days when you had to get your tuschi outta the chair, walk across the room & turn the knob, and if anyone asks what a knob is, I will personnaly hurt you!!!!
Judy, I'll meet you out front on Sunday @ the quilt show. wahoo!

It was great, as far as there were a ton of quilts and some very innovative. I was disappointed as there are so many more machine quilted quilts and less and less hand quilted quilts each year. I just hate to see hand quilting become a dying art. Also, there was a lot of machine embroidery, which is nice, but it looks like something you would buy on your towels at Macy's rather than something made by hand with time and talent. I know there are a lot of machine quilters and embrodiers on this forum, so I do not want to offend. I know those things have their place. I just hate to see the true "handwork" of yesterday become a lost art.
Pamela (photobugs) took some great pics that she will post on her blog. There was one booth that had a ton of antique quilts, feedsacks, etc. that we loved and there was a quilt that was of a flag that was so cool . . . not at all the typical flag quilt. Hopefully Pamela will post it. Pamela and I both got caught up in the Buggy Barn booth and left buying a funky needle thing for "punch needling" which is basically the same process as rug hooking, only on a smaller scale . . . using DMC floss instead of wool strips. It looked so simple and they had some great ideas for folkart type designs. But Pamela and I are both great at having a few zillion projects going at a time, so buying these may have been foolish on our parts. So we have committed to getting together and holding each other accountable to actually finish something with these things!
My most exciting treasure of the day actually happened on the way to the quilt show. I had went out early in the morning for Milk (seems our fridge drinks our milk during the middle of the night . . .) and saw a sign for an estate sale which hadn't opened yet. So when Pamela came to my place and we took off for the quilt show, I added an extra stop to our day. She loves junkin' too, so was a very willing participant. I found several great treasures inside for next to nothing . . . a great old suitcase I will make a table out of, a wonderful brown transferware platter that has such a great autumn look to it, some great linens, an "oh so retro" table fan, a few knick-knacks, etc. Then I went out to the garage and on a table in the back was a table marked "blankets $1.00." On that table was the most wonderful antique quilt in great condition!! It is basically Americana colors with a bit of black added to it. It is very much that primitive/colonial look I love. When we were at the booth with antique quilts, I saw one with very similar fabrics, which was the quilt top only, for $165.00. Mine is a completed quilt! I asked him the era of it and he said about 1890s! I think Pamela was a bit green with envy, but she handled it quite graciously. I think she only told me to "shut up about it" a time or two . . . LOL!
Then, after the quilt show, we grabbed a quick bite at Zips and went junkin'. We found some great treasures. I found a funky old red plaid Anne Klien jacket for $1.00 that looks like it is something Jackie Kennedy would have worn. Also found a wonderful old 2 gallon crock that says Inland Empire Pottery Co., Spokane, WA so it is local, which adds to it's charm to me. I have several of these old crocks and love the local ones best. I have one that is Palouse Pottery Co. too. None of these companies exist today. The weirdest thing that happened must have truly been a "God thing." I had been invited to a last minute birthday party for a friend Saturday night. I didn't have time to shop. I had already bought a great old book for my friend called "Pigs is Pigs" from 1906. They too raise pigs, so it is fitting. I also have a copy of it. Anyway, during our flood, it got packed away and I didn't have access to it. So I was telling this to Pamela, saying how I wish I had that book. I kid you not, within 5 minutes, I saw the exact same book sitting on a shelf in the antique store for only $3.00! Problem solved!
Anyway, it was a wonderful day . . . topped off with the birthday party that had the adults playing the children's games of old . . . complete with a pinata! I am happy to announce I am the clothespin queen! We played the game where you hold the clothespin to your forehead while standing and have to drop them into a canning jar on the floor. All 6 of mine went in. I am about the most unathletic person on the face of the earth, which my friends all know, so they were telling me they were going to enter me into the "Clothespin Olympics." It was a proud moment! LOL! The kids were all there too having a blast riding dirt bikes all over their acreage and it was just a great evening.
It was just a great day, filled with friends and family. The kind of day that makes you realize how blessed you really are.

What a grand day you had. I agree with you, I don't want to see the handwork go by the way side. I love the older things as well.
GIRL I CANNOT BELEIVE YOUR FIND ON THAT QUILT. WAY TO GO!!!!!!

Oh Brenda, I was going to post about all the lovely quilts at the show, but ya beat me to it!!! hahaa!
You forgot to mention the gentleman playing the Harp! I oh so loved his music!
I think Judy & I used our limit of "Oh WOW'S" as we walked through all the quilt isles....do I have a favorite? Nope, loved 'em all. Did ya see the one that was entered by the man on behalf of his dear wife who passed away last year from cancer? sob sob, it was a real "oh wow" moment for me! What a sweet thing to do in moemory of ones beloved.
So, here's how it went, Judy & I would stroll down the isles, then she would sneak around the corner, I would sheild her & she would sketch out the quilt ideas....I even took a pic of a ladies felted hand bag that look like a mitten, which reminds me, I need to download my pic's & send that one to Judy, my co-hort in crime!
We also stopped in @ Michell Crawfords lovely booth, "Flower Pot Quilts" She is such a lovely lady and had some of her beautiful work displayed. For those of you who do not know, Michell is a MJF sister.
Judy & I kept our eyes open for MJF sisters w/ribbons, but we also were so busy ohing & ahing at all the quilts we may not have seen you. I am sure you understand. Infact, we never made it over to the Bead & Stamp show!
But we had a great time and afterwards we had a mexican fiesta lunch. Oh yum!
And yes Judy, I mad my DH pancakes for dinner! haha!

I was at the quilt show on Saturday with my girls--big girls not little ones--so I didn't try to hook up with anybody. We can make things WAY too complicated on our own with out any outside help. We all had a great time! The 'girls' are my 2 DD and my DIL who are now all quilters(thanks to moi)but only one of them had been to this show before.
Brenda...I haven't been to this show for a couple of years but I thought there was a little more hand quilting this time. I too hate to see such a decrease in hand work of all kinds but especially hand quilting. I do both--hand and machine, with a longarm. There are some machine quilters out there that do exquisite work but I don't personally think the look of hand quilting can ever be duplicated by machine. That's just my opinion. I love antique quilts and own a few. I'm so jealous that you found such a good one.
I hope to make a better effort to meet up with some of you the next time I'm in Spokane.

Sounds like the rest of you had a good time at the quilt show as well. These shows are so inspiring to get our creative juices flowing. While I didn't do any "closet sketching" like Judy did, we did do some snap photography. Pamela tried to be as non-chalent about it as she could, but she has this really big and oh-so professional looking camera. People will probably think she was with the newspaper or something! LOL! She took a pic of this great doll thing (basically just a shape of shoulders and a head with all kinds of fun sewing implements on her. She had a banner across her that called her Nettie Needles. So cute! And, yes, Grace I agree the harpest was great. My kids had a harp CD they always listened to at bedtime when they were little. So relaxing. So whenever I hear a harp, I always have sweet memories of my little boys sleeping.
