Hi Ladies!
Something really fun came up in the Kooky Cluckers Farmgirl chapter of Spokane-
A lot of us have kiddos and some of the kiddos are old enough to want to participate in the fun gathering of the moms. So some of the wonderful ladies in the chapter have organzied a mini chapter within a chapter so the young ones can participate with each other and feel involved!
Isn't that a great idea? I just thought I would share it with you in case you didn't see the post that Teresa (Lavendar Fields Dreamer) wrote about it.
I am so lucky to know such clever and loving farmgirls!

yep that was me
firemama and my girls love to do things farmgirly and have started doing yoyos recentley so we made them a part of the group but as a sub group. We have a few moms in the group so it seemed like a great idea and this gives them friendships to grow into over the years.

an EXCELLENT idea .. i have always felt that if we don't expose our children to the 'good art of living' .. they may grow up not appreciating the finer things in life. o.k. .. A STORY! (lordy! don't i always have a STORY! but then .. we ALL do). When i started doing the Women's Comforts Tea Parties in Maryland .. the mom's started bringing their daughters ... they wanted them to see all the fun 'treasures' (dollies and such) that i decorated with. some of the momma's proclaimed: "Frannie .. you said this was an evening 'just for us women' .. a place where for a few hours we could leave the 'bills, babies and bosses behind'. AND .. i surely saw their point ... BUT ... i knew that if these children were indeed coming and enjoying themselves .. it was important to have a 'tea party' time for THEM too ... soooo ... i created YESTERYEAR'S CHILDREN HISTORICAL TEA PARTIES. and i created a 'book club' and a 'doll club' for the children too! It was all so marvelous and important! I also had big girl/little girl tea parties ... this is where a child could come and bring an adult ... (i steered clear of calling it 'mother/daughter' .. because there are so many chldren being raised by grammies and other strong women ... OH GURLZ! i am soooo glad to hear that you are including the children! xo, frannie

Alee and all- this is wonderful fantastic news. And the mini chapters a perfect way to do it. Yes we must include the younins in all we do. Our Future Farmkids of the World will be a great way to pass along knowledge and include our loved ones. I'd love to see all the chapters doing this. It just seems to fit doesn't it!

I am so happy to say that my Daughter is a mini farmgirl! Teresa we need to figure out how to send thepicturesto your computer.Alee when you come down you HAVE to see the pictures of the crazy girls at the park! The Mini Cluckers!!They love it!!

That is such a sweet way to share time with a daughter/niece or granddaughter. I'm blessed with lots of friends and a growing number of little ones to make up for not having any of my own =) I found this pattern while looking for little girl pantaloons for a sweet little family member who loves fancy dress up and fun clothing.She is 5 and we want to do prairie girl costumes.

I know I'm putting the cart before the horses again (rolls eyes at silly self), but wouldn't it be cool to have little "chicks" rewards or something to encourage the little ones to learn farmgirl crafts and skills? We get patches, they ought to at least get a Teaparty or stickers in a mini scrap book. I love the idea of mini chapters. When I was little I always wanted to do what the "big girls" were doing.I would have loved this. What a wonderful idea for bringing together future farmgirls

Annika- Yes Yes something special for the mini chicks. How about first a project book that they create and then they could put each project inside with directions and eventually have a manual to keep for life. Starting with a basic template for each project, these could be embellished with their own designs and also add a special sticker badge for each completed project, leave a place at the end of each project for a picture with their project in hand. Not only will they have this for years as an intruction book but it will be a memory book to keep too.

Beth that is a great idea. A instruction book that is a memory book as well. That my dear is grand.
Yesterday at the park was a blast with the mimi Cluckers. I have to get the photos downloaded for dd so she can show you all. Pure joy!!!

Beth, you are a delight! I think that it would be so wonderful for these little "peeps" to have project journals. Wouldn't it just be sweet to be able to eventually share your memory book/project book with your own little girl?

yep yesterday was the perfect fall day and we ended up at the park and the girls just had to play in the leaves, hopefully there will be more mini cluckers to join them soon.

Great photo - what darling mini farmgirls they are!
For the Mini Farmgirl Journal I thought of this:
Take a 3 ring binder ~ probably a 2 inch size
Using cardboard ~ the thinner stuff like you find inside a new dress shirt, look in the craft section where they have art supplies, any color will work
lay the binder flat on top of the cardboard and trace around the binder. Then draw tabs that are an inch bigger then the binder on the top , sides and bottom. You won't have any where the three rings are on top and bottom. These tabs will be folded in and glued to the binder.
You will also need two more rectangular pieces that are the size of the front inside of binder and the back inside. When those are all cut, use a ruler to make the bends on the large piece in the cardboard. This will give you nice clean folds and will make it fit better.
Now the fun part. Pick out any fabric you like, or quilt sewn pieces and trace the cardboard pattern onto the fabric. This will be your cover. Depending on what you want the inside to look like you can also trace the two smaller cardboard pieces. Cut them out and glue them onto the cardboard.
When its dry, put some glue on the binder on the outside, place it on the covered cardboard, fabric on the outside and glue in place. then take the tabs and glue them down on the inside of the binder. Then glue the inside pieces on the inside covering the tabs up. It should look like a farbic wrapped book.
Use a really strong tacky glue for this. Another idea would be to stitch their name on the fabric before you glue it on.
When it's done you will have a great book that you can easily add project pages to with instructions and pictures of all they do.

Theresa and Amanda,
My daughter Hazel loved to see the pictures of your "mini cluckers"; she wants to learn how to do whatever I'm doing (she's learning how to make yo-yos right now), so she was thrilled to hear that there are other girls who are doing the same types of things. Maybe at some point your mini-chapter would like a pen-pal or a post card swap, etc.?

ABSOLUTLEY!!!My dd Autumn wouldlove to! She has now made8 yoyos and is SUPER proud of herself.One of her little friends from schools bday party is this weekend, and she wants to make her an apron!!(and get her one of those ugly bratz dolls.)Hey I emailed you yesterday, did you get it?

Ugh- I HATE those Bratz dolls. Doug and I have banned them from our house. If Nora ever gets toys like that, we will be polite to the sender and thank them, but then we are going to take them and return them to a store that sells that toy and get something different.
Sorry- kind of off-topic but those dolls bother me.

my girls would love to do the pen pal thing, post cards are probably easiest. Less time consuming with homework and all that goes with the school year. will e-mail you addy. when you come over in dec (is that right) they could have a get together. mcdonalds play place works for us, its warm and then us moms can chat. (yes we take advantage of this cause all parties end up being happy)
