Here is something funny:

Believe it or not ,
These are Memphis , TN 's REAL 911 Calls!

Dispatcher : 9-1-1 What is your emergency?
Caller: I heard what sounded like gunshots coming from the brown house on the corner.
Dispatcher: Do you have an address?
Caller: No, I have on a blouse and slacks, why?

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What is your emergency?
Caller : Someone broke into my house and took a bite out of my ham and cheese sandwich .
Dispatcher : Excuse me?
Caller : I made a ham and cheese sandwich and left it on the kitchen table and when I came back from the bath room, someone had taken a bite out of it.
Dispatcher : Was anything else taken?
Caller : No, but this has happened to me before and I'm sick and tired of it!

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What is the nature of your emergency?
Caller: I'm trying to reach nine eleven but my phone doesn't have an eleven on it.
Dispatcher: This is nine eleven.
Caller: I thought you just said it was nine-one-one
Dispatcher: Yes, ma'am nine-one-one and nine-eleven are the same thing.
Caller: Honey, I may be old, but I'm not stupid..

My Personal Favorite!!!
Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What's the nature of your emergency?
Caller: My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart !
Dispatcher: Is this her first child?
Caller: No, you idiot! This is her husband!

And the winner is..........

Dispatcher: 9-1-1
Caller: Yeah, I'm having trouble breathing. I'm all out of breath. Darn....I think I'm going to pass out.
Dispatcher: Sir, where are you calling from?
Caller: I'm at a pay phone. North and Foster..
Dispatcher: ! Sir, an ambulance is on the way. Are you an asthmatic?
Caller: No.
Dispatcher: What were you doing before you started having trouble breathing?
Caller: Running from the Police.

Monica, we are in the clear now. I am just concerned because this fire is so fierce.

Here is a link that talks about the fire and all the acreage burned so far.

Sharon,

I had no problem believing the 911 calls from Memphis, TN....that's where my Thomas is working..remember we were living outside of Memphis since the end of 2007...I just got out of there the end of April to move into our home in the Smokies...I always said I'd NEVER live in or near that town! *Never say never..LOL I'm from Tennessee (Nashville) and most of us don't claim Memphis as part of the state..hahahaha. *No offense to anyone that may read this and happen to love the place..hahaha...just my personal opinion.* :0)

Thomas has to drive through the "hood" to get to work..he sees some sights that a lot would not believe...the guy running from the police is probably the most common sighting and the drugged out street walkers...Detroit and Memphis swap slots on the *most dangerous city to live in*

The things we do when the economy goes haywire! We are hoping Thomas can say goodbye to that horrid place by next summer or sooner...a lot depends on the duration of the work...they told him in June to expect to be laid off and it's not happened (yet).

Sharon, those jokes were delightful to say the least. Sitting here at dd reading them to her as she does some clean up. Always great to have a good laugh.

Yes, we have seen several pictures of this fire on our news.

Stephanie, how was your weekend girl? It will be interesting to see what the reaction is to the tea party in Washington.

Monica, will be praying for you friend's husband. I cannot imagine being a fire fighters, or police mans mate. That would be one very tough job.

Picked some maters and zuchinni today other than that not a lot of production out of this girl. Enjoying the day was part of it!!!! Hope you all are enjoying yours.

Gals, I put some pictures up on picturetrail. My oldest son took all of the pictures except for the last two. The pictures were taken from our street. The one of the water dropping helicopter was taken over looking JPL's parking lot. The pilot had just landed with more crew members, who attached the water bucket.

Carrie, me too. A neighbor told us about another flare up, but it looks like it is near where the other fire in La Canada is burning.

Hello! Ladies~

It's been so busy here that I have hardly had time to catch my breath. I came here a couple of times to post and then always got called away. We are back to homeschooling. I have washed most of the walls, curtains and windows in this house. We did some painting and rearranging to spruce things up here. Tired of the same old, same old but no money to buy new. I would rather make what I have work in different ways, anyway. That's what's been keeping me busy.

Today my son has his art class and we have a couple of errands to run while we are out.

I wanted to stop here and say hello to everyone very quickly while I had a chance.

Sharon~so sorry to hear about your mil and glad to hear you are ok with the fires. My heart goes out to all those suffering through it. So tough.

Steph~wish I could be there, too.

Carrie~so great to hear from you.

Autumn~I got my package!! YEAH!!! Thanks so much. I am thrilled.

Carol Sue~so nice to hear from you.

Well I have to get moving.

Ruth

My mil is amazing the people around her. She is hanging on, but yesterday she had a 113 fever. I never heard of anyone having such a high temperature.

Autumn, hmmmm you might need to go on a hunt and take care of those hungry critters!!!!! That was not nice, you were looking forward to those fresh veggies!!!!!!

Hey Ruth you made me tired reading all the work you have been doing.

Miss Steph, shoot now I forgot my train of thought. Doesn't take much now does it....I can go check our your blogs without it taking forever. One of these days I will have to catch up y'alls blogs.

What did I do today, hmmmmmmm, tried to act like I knew how my computer worked....lmbo. What a mess I made for a bit, goes to show, you always need to be learning....lol. I went with the grands to see their first haircuts for school. Gosh, they are dang adorable and growing up way toooooooo stinkin fast. I got my hair thinned for free by our friend when I was there. Ohhhhhhh that was delightful. I have very thick hair and trying to tuck my hair behind my ear wasn't working anymore, to much dang hair. Now my mama says I was adopted as a joke, because I am the only one of my brothers and sisters who have this thick hair. I told my mama I would share if I could....grin. Staying in the air conditioning today was a great idea on my part and will be tomorrow. Yes, watering again and again, cause you want those thristy plants to be set for the winter, to be able to bloom and be pretty next spring!!!!!
