Hello ladies!!!

It's been so long since I've had a chance to come here and check on everyone!! Just busy getting school started and working around the house and in the garden.

Steph~I love those windows. So gorgeous!! Thank you for the comment on the bags. I don't have an Etsy shop yet but would love to get one started so I can sell some of my things. I just love to crochet.

Autumn~What did you plant in your fall garden.

Carol Sue~so great to hear from you.

Sharon~so sorry to hear about your mil.

How is everyone doing ? It has been so hot and humid here for the last 2 1/2 weeks. It's unbearable and makes you feel like not doing anything.

I have not really made anything in the last couple of weeks. I need some motivation and inspiration.

Hugs,
Ruth

Hello Ladies!
The title "apron sew-along" attracted me...but no way can i read nearly 1000 pages to try and figure out what we're sewing along!? LOL!

Is there really a sew-along happening? Thanks!

Hey Ruby!
We sew along from time to time but mostly we wish we could be sewing!!!
Just a bunch of girl talk and fun friends- the best!!!!
Welcome and jump in !

Ruth- it's not really a fall garden- more of a late summer garden- we have almost year round growing temps. I have cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, carrots brocolli and broom corn growing.
No cool air here - we stay in the 90's with near 90% humidity most days- I guess we are just adjusted to it.

Blessings,
Autumn

June, yep we used to talk about sewing a lot more, but life just sometimes prevents us from sewing.

If you are making any aprons, etc. we would love to see pictures. I make aprons to sell on my website.

Hello June and welcome!

I can see my sewing machine and I can even touch it.....but sitting down to it may be several more weeks.

------------

I do finally have a good furniture arrangement in my new studio and I have rolling racks to store fabric on in the room off the studio. So now the work begins of unpacking the fabric...and a lot of rewashing due to being folding and stored in these totes for over a year. I'm used to all of my fabric smelling like lavender since I'm either burning Lavender incense or Lavender candles.

Thomas is on his way home! YAY....these 10 days seem to go by so slow and of course his 3 days home FLY by!!!!

------------

Autumn, I wish I had some of your fresh veggies.

------------

Ruth, you definitely should set up an Etsy for your crochet.

------------

Carol Sue, what a drag about the pools..such is life..always someone to spoil things...just have to find something else to do.
-----------

Monica, Has homeschooling swallowed you?!!! I'll be emailing you.

-----------

Have a great day,
Steph

Good afternoon!!

Steph~I'm missing Monica, too. Hope everything is ok. Homeschooling can swallow you up sometimes. I know it did to me while I was trying to get everything set for this year. Still have some to do. Can't wait to see pictures of your studio.

We did some school this morning. I just took my son to his friend's house to play. They have a pool and it's great for today since it is going to be in the 90's with humidity. I have to go do some cleaning, especially the bathroom and dry mop these floors. Before I know it, it will be time to go pick him up and to make supper.

I should get moving. Wanted to check in and say hello.

RubyJune~welcome. You can just join in and not worry about all the other pages. We try to have fun here.

We think that it is a matter of days before mil is gone. She is deteriorating fast. When my fil passed away, he passed away in his sleep. He was fine during the day and early evening. My sil is beside herself, and she has never experienced this before. My dh is keeping himself busy at work, and I think that it is to keep his mind off of what is happening.

Thanks Tina. My mil said to my sil, "Wen am I going home?" My sil felt that her mom was talking about going home to the apartment. I happen to think about after the conversation that maybe my mil was thinking of when she was going to her new home.

We have a lot of smoke from the nearby fire here. We could see the flames on the nearby mountain, which is burning near Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The air was clear last night, but today the smoke is thick and there is ash all over the cars. I can even smell the smoke in the house. The firefighters are keeping a close watch on the nearby Arroyo, which is a block and a half from us.

Here is a close-up shot taken by my son last night:

Thanks gals. It is extremely hard on my sil.

The fire is scary. There is distance between us and the fire. The one part that scares me the most is the fire burning near JPL. That picture that my son took was overlooking JPL last night. If we walk to the top of our street and make a left and walk a block, there is a fence which overlooks JPL.

The remainder of the fire was staying at the top of the mountain ridge, but some of the fire has moved downward.

Hi gals

Welcome RubyJune, now I sure hope I got that one right.

Sharon, that fire would just plain be to close, especially with the hot hot temps you are having. Thinking of your family.

Whoa Autumn, you are making soap in your heat and humidity. Girl, that takes some doin!!!!!

Yep, Sheryl-lyn, it is that time of year again almost isn't it. Kiddos here start on the 2nd. So today was going and filling out paperwork for volunteering.....sewing....hmmmm.....one of these days. Still in search of my camera cord....

So I can truly say I have done the theme park. I had fun, played in wave pool, down a lazy river, in Thundercanyon, and then did a few rids. I have never been a ride girl, but did a couple with the grands. I got dizzier than you can beleive, nope, still not good at rides. I laughed a lot, squealed, got wait and had fun with daughter and grands. Now definitely need some more recouperation time. Hoping you all have a grand weekend.....grin

We are watching the fire closely. The people who live up in the hills above us will have to evacuate. Well, they are not just above us. We opposed the building up there in the first place. There is also only one way in and out, for the 275 homes there. It is scary to watch. I am hoping that we will be fine. I also hope that they can fly the water dropping helicopters during the night like they did for another fire.

Hey ladies! I haven't gotten swallowed up yet, but almost! We had a thunderstorm last Friday night and there was a bolt of lightning that hit about 1/2 mile away and it knocked out the power and fried a lot of people's computers! I have been messing around with this thing for a week now to finally get it up and running! I did get a new wireless mouse and keyboard that was on sale cheap at Staples and it's neat!

Steph, I finally got the yarn done! I will e-mail you a pic of it!

Sharon, Stay safe! I will keep you in my prayers! The pic is scary!

I am going to get off now! It has been a very long day! I had to go into town to get a new battery for Gary's van today and I heard it was 120 today! I am so wiped out right now! I think I am going to go relax and play with some yarn! Steph, I am working on some beautiful white mohair with light blue iridescent
beads now!

Good night all!

Sharon: Is there anything that you have to do? I saw evacuations last night.

We had a real rainy day here, so I just cleaned and put up new curtains. By next week, the house will be all orderly and neat with new curtains in most rooms. When school starts, I do not have too much time on weekends to change curtains, etc. so I do it now. It's nice when it's all clean and new-looking.

Important: We may have to evacuate during the night. The firefighters will try to hold back the fire. Our friend around the corner has 60 horses in stables. She was told to get them out now. It will take her several hours to get the horse out.

Thanks gals. We are watching it. This fire has consumed over 20,000 acres. I am hoping that the fire retardant that was dropped today holds up. So far, so good. I can't see anything about the area that is concerning to the residents here. The place where have a good view is blocked off by the sheriff department. The containment is now gone. It would be 5 percent contained, then it is right back to zero.

Things didn't help when the county was renegotiating the contract for the pilots who help to fight the fire. They can not fly during the night because of the electric wires. The nearby parking lot of JPL has tanker trucks, and a water dropping helicopter. It will be a long night, and will continue to be that way until this fire is out. The fire is spreading towards where our friends live, and they live far away.

First of all, the fire has moved on, but I feel sorry for the others going through this horrible fire. All of the retardant, etc. held the fire back from continuing in our direction.

Second, mil is closer to leaving us. We were told that she is taking one breath every 15 seconds as of yesterday afternoon. No word from sil yet.
