I believe Bonne has been busy doing a major tuneup on her new Featherweight. Has dog sitting duties too.
I stopped at the Senior thrift shop today, a must whenever I go to Carson City to work. The manager was in CA with a daughter having surgery, so instead of buttons being saved for me, they were in the little baby food jars on the shelf. I gathered them all up, plus small bags, 25 total @ 75 cents. Didn't have much cash on me and had left my checkbook at home, so asked them to hold on to them while I went to the nearby Walmart and get more cash. I noticed a sandwich size bag of what appeared to be "better" buttons set aside at the register, so thought one of the ladies was buying them. When I got back, they were all in a nice Estee Lauder box for me. Asked about the bag set aside and the man (managers husband) said they were for sale and quoted $2. I could see there were some pricy old ones in there. Yippeee for me. Some in the box match the ones in the bag, so they had sorted out from this batch. Next time I'm in, when the lady is back, I will give her another $10, they're surely worth that and more. Her husband is the one who had a small generator sitting on top of a quilt top awhile back, thinking it was a "rag". Yikes, we got it out and she charged me $5 for it. Silly men!

Steph, thanks..I opened a Rubbermaid tote in the sewing room a few days ago, having no clue what might be hiding inside-and it was quart jars of buttons. I know there are at least 20 gallon jars full in there, haven't counted in a long time. As I clear out more cookie cutters (a bunch went to live at Jessica's house aleady) I'll have more jars to fill. Maybe just display them in the kitchen, why not. Not enough room in the sewing room, that's what they were in totes. I don't mind letting the rhinestone brooches and earrings go, but gotta keep the rhinestone buttons and a bunch in today's find. One is round with a wire loop and really cool looking; has quite a few half round and I wonder if they came from the same garment.

Ronna, I used to have a bunch of old cookie cutters. I guess they got lost somewhere down the line. I have lots of the rhinestone buttons, the vegetable ivory, tons of mother of pearl and a bit of tortoise shell and lots of the plastics..quite a few of the bakelite and I've got many that need to be tested to know for sure..so many of the plastics could pass for bakelite if you didn't know any better.

Checking in her late too. LOL, no gardening outside for us girls up north, we got 4 inches of snow.....just not able to put those snow peas in yet, but gosh it would have been appropraite to put snow peas in in the snow....lmbo.

Ronna, what an absolutely fabulous find girl!!!!! Yippeee for you.

Autumn, here is hoping you feel better and better.

Steph, your and Ronna are going to have to take pictures of some of your buttons just so I can oggle and go ohhh and ahhh over them. It is so fun to look at buttons. I love putting my hand in my little jars and touching them. Don't know why, but gosh it is fun.

Now Karin, how did that clean up go for you with all those buttons flying!!!!

I did have an adventure with LFD today. We went to the grocery store and they had a sample of a big shrimp. I tried one and said hey, shrimp. She got one and shortly after eating it, she went Mom, I feel funny. Her face was red, her neck, her chest. She wasn't swallowling so good. Yep, she goes Mom, Benadryl. Flying down the isle I went....opened the package right there and shoved 2 down her. That was not fun!!!!!!!! My brother had eaten seafood up till 28 when he had a severe allergic reaction, his throat swelled shut. Thankfully he survived. So was aware of what could be happening with LFD. I have to admit that wasn't what I had on my agenda for this afternoon!!!!! I am sure she didn't either.
The good part, we were in a grocery store where there was Benadryl to take. That girl doesn't get any more seafood. Nada, nothing!!!!!!! Cause dang it I said so, and I am MOM!!!!!! LMBO

So they say this weekend we will get warmer weather, me thinks mabye snow pea planting time.....grin.

Ronna, You lucky woman, the thrift shops around here have buttons, maybe five in a sandwich bag , for $1. I am glad to have the buttons I have, I'm too old and too cheap to cough up money for those buttons, and as a rule they are plastic and boring...just as well. I don't need any more stuff. Woke up at 3 came downstairs to get a big drink of water, and am now going back to bed, I considered taking a pain pill now, but I will see if I can't get a few cat heating pads to help me out.

Still too frigging cold here, I am turning into such a wimp. I have misplaced my favorite hoody sweatshirt that I like to wear around the house, most annoying. Ah well, if i look in the laundry pile I'll find something to bundle up in.

Carol Sue and Teresa, SNOW? Well that really stinks, of course I realize we are not really done with it here yet, but honestly, it seems so unnecessary at this point. 'Someone should speak to Mother Nature about that.

WEll there's quite a breeze coming through the window, time for me to head back to bed, I hope you are all toasty warm and well...

I'm a member of the Button Floozies blog....you can see a few trays of my buttons over there..check out the old lunch trays I found at the thrift store. I have a vision of those big hot rolls they always included with the school lunch.

Good morning, ladies~

It's another rainy, dreary day here. My seedlings need sun. The window I had them in is perfect but right now there hasn't been sun for days. I have a light on them to try and keep them happy.

Steph~love all your buttons. I have a few but not that many.

Ronna~how lucky to find all those great buttons for such a low price. I think I need to go thrifting in Nevada. Don't find good deals like that here.

Karin~hope you can find something to keep you nice and warm. Drink some nice hot coffee. Wrap yourself up.

Teresa~what a surprise when mother nature played a joke on you.

Carol Sue- I forgot to say that the allergy MAY have been to the solution of whitening products allowed to put on seafood these days- not sure if it's legal but unless the source is local I would be wary. Even here some use it to sell older shrimp. It has chlorine in it-if not all chlorine.
May explain why someone tolerated it until a certain time-

Blessings,

Autumn~sorry to hear you are still feeling horrible. Hope you feel better soon. You need some good chicken soup, nice cup of tea and off to bed. Don't forget the TLC.

Scary to hear about what they are doing to the shrimp to sell them. That's horrible.

Bonne's new machine is great.

It's still raining but not as cold as yesterday. We started a fire but I think it can die down now. I just want some sunshine. Anyone want to share some with us?

I have to run to the post office and to the pharmacy. Hubby went to a dermatologist and had a biopsy on some spots on his legs. I have to drop off a prescription for his ointment and it's $50. I also need to pick up some books at the library. Then work tonight.

What's everyone else up to?

Well it's almost three p.m. and I guess I finally have to jump in the shower and get dressed. This weather is just making me feel so rotten. It is so gray today I've been napping a bit and when I woke I thought it was maybe six thrity or seven. We need some sun!

Autumn, sorry to hear you are still feeling lousy. Take good care of yourself and veg right out for a day or two. Sometimes that helps.

Teresa, I remember the days with the croup, poor kiddos, when they cough it always sounds like a drunken burro to me. I remember driving around in the car in the winter with the windows open, the doctor swore it would help and it did. I swear every spring brings a fresh crop of cooties to the surface of the earth.

Right, shower, get dressed, drink coffee and head in to get the cat varmints some food. I ought to be able to manage that...

autumn thanks for the info i can hope that is the reason why i had the reaction but i cant tolerate fish very well anymore its depressing it first started with tuna about seven years ago and has slowley progressed to include other fish, so if i am allergic to shrimp it wouldnt be that big of a surprise.

off to clean the girls room and find my camera to take a pic for ruth.

oh yeah and my fun for the day will be to go to a book signing close by the farmchicks have wrote a book. woohoo
