Does anyone read Country Living magazine? If so, check out the April issue on page 20..they show lamps created from stacked mixing bowls, cup and saucers, etc..they are so cute!

I love Country Living..they really are the mother magazine of country decorating...

I wish that Malphi in England would publish a magazine with all of her dreamy patterns and designs and English gardening. Her designs just can't be replicated.

Steph~I love Country Living and Malphi does have some of the best designs. I have always loved both of them. I don't have this issue of Country Living. I'll have to check it out.

I bought Hobby Farms Home today. Haven't even had a chance to look at it.

Hobby farms is so much fun, as well as backyard chickens. I will have to look at country living. I love unusual lamps. Lamps are always hard for me, sometimes i like em most times i cannot stand em. a few yrs i made a lampshade out of a wire lampshade frame and a bunch of old keys, soldered together..it was extremely heavy tho..i think it is in the barn in johns office, not sure

I used to subscribe to Country Living in the 80's and had a house full of country antiques. Alas, divorce happened and he got the house and all the antiques. Haven't picked up an issue since~reminds me too much of that life. pfffst!!

I used to walk a dog named "Nin"~the owners said it was a Nepalese/Tibetan name.

I used to get Country Living too. Always loved it. Then it seemed like the articles and pictures all blended together. I'll have to get back into it. LOVE Hobby Farms Home. Grit is nice too.

I finally read all the posts I missed these past few weeks. Totally enjoyed it. Wish I was able to be home more and keep up.

After much soul searching and family discussions, I have decided that this is my last year of drama club and class advisor. It is so much work, and since the money is not too great, it is not worth being out every day and many nights. I do a lot of other stuff for the kids, so this will not be the end of my involvement. There are two teachers willing to take over, as long as I help the first year. A great compromise for me!! My district is VERY, VERY driven by the state test scores, and that makes my life miserable. No one cares about all the other stuff you do to make the kids smarter and more confident. The more time I am at school, the more I have to hear it. So, that will end next year. We are all sick of test mania, but I have done my time with all the other stuff. Time for the young teachers to do the stuff I do. Plus, they need the money even more than I do.

Our house is not really decorated either. Just farm-country (we work our butts off) style. It's cozy, that's good enough.

Yes, sheryl lyn and you need more time to quilt and hang out with your dogs and chickens. I am glad you are at peace with your decision. How is the play coming along?

See I'm so out of the loop, I didn't know that Malphi was married and trying to get into the states to live and pregnant!!! So what does her husband do for a living?? I hope she has a little girl so she can sew up precious aprons and daydresses for her.....I guess if I'd read her blog enough I'd know these things. Anyhow I do love her stuff..and so if she's now in California I hope she storms the region with her stuff and it spreads east in a hurry. I love the freshness of her designs.

Bonne, I didn't buy Country Living for a while either....I've lost sooooo many of my collectibles through the last storm in life...but now I feel like I have a fresh start especially since I'm surrounded by so many junk shops.

I bought retro looking lamps at Lowes several years ago..they have the pull chains and use two bulbs..they have a 50's flair to them. I'd like to try making some of those whimsical ones though.

I love how her patchwork looks so "old". Just like Sheryl-lyn's quilts do~like you pulled them out of great-granny's trunk in the attic.
