I'm putting the chicken manure in the compost bin- somebody said that was ok. I also put some around the new berry bushes.

I was at the hospital again today- my niece had to be induced 3-4 weeks early. Her baby was failing to thrive-they expected a 4 lb baby but he was nearly 6 lbs.
He seemed fine to me- he certainly cried loud and strong!
Someday Im gonna stay home again!!!!!

Blessings,

I sent an email to inquire about those two mysterious sewing machines in the cases...maybe I'll hear back tomorrow..they had just hit the list today so maybe they are still available.

Autumn, you have a home, do you remember where....lol, but what a glorious reason for not being at home, babies, awesome. Wendy being the oldest of coarse....grin.

Watch out for Killer Compost. Gardeners beware-----straw, manure and even compost can kill your garden, thanks to the folks at **** chemical company. This article is in the Mother Earth News that Bonne talked about. It was a chemical marketed to horse and cattle owners to control perennial weeds. Was associated with loss of thouseands of home gardens in Great Britian in 2008. Previously treated straw and even well-rotted manure may carry enought of the persistent plant killer to kill tomatoes, lettuce, beans and other sensitve crops. So me thinks we shall have to check out and ask if this herbicide aminopyralid was used around where we get our horse pooh. Me, I am using my chicken poo for my lovely garden.....
I too adore the watering wand on page 8.....ahhhhh........ This magazine was my splurge for the month and I am so glad we got it. Hubby and I use to get Mother Earth News all the time. It sure was cool getting this. Will keep checking out their site on line, they have articles there too ladies.

No gardening here, snowing still.....2 to 4 inches over night tonight and cold cold till what next Monday. Brrr de brrr brrr. I am glad I am staying put, wrapped under blankies reading. Dreaming of the garden and learning more too.....

Steph, interesting that the start of the post says $20 each and the end says $20 for both...couldn't make up their mind? sewing machines for sale seem to go in spurts around here. Would love to find my White that my stepmom loaned out and never got back. Not that I need it, but it was a workhorse and I think it saved my sanity in the mid 60's with no neighbors, no car, 1 TV channel that came in snowy or not at all, etc.
Had letter from my stepmom today, asking what else I want when "she's done with it". Mentioned a cool old carpet sweeper made of wood, a butter churn with wood paddles (have my MIL's on top of the kitchen cabinets now), more sad irons. Said she's sending me another box, no telling what's in it. It's so different from all the 54 years since she married my dad...to be sending these gifts, but I'm honored to be the one she wants to share with. I'm going to go to court with her next month, something about the guardianship of her grandson. Maybe cause he seems to always be in trouble for drinking, vehicle wrecks or gun issues, but she's had custody since he was 4 and he's 17 now. Of course he's never at fault. Excuse me while I choke on that; she thinks the sun rises and sets you know where on him.
stressful day here, glad it's over. Too tired to relate all, but 3 hours of sleep, cancelled flights, heavy snow storm with a multi car wreck directly behind me, a grandson with no street sense on planes with layovers and not calling me (dead cell phone) about sums it up. On that note, I'm headed for bed. Tyler is safe in New Orleans with my son, finally, and I can go sleep.

Ronna, yes, I did notice how the $20 was spoke about two different ways..LOL I've emailed and asked the brand names of them..I have an idea whoever has these knows nothing about a machine or else they would have atleast taken the cover off of them to show the machine.

Sorry for your hectic stressful day..sounds like one of those *days from hell* Hope you sleep well tonight.

Good heavens Ronna, it started early and never quit did it. Glad that grandson is nice and safe, flight delays, no phone calls uggggg.
Glad your stepmom is asking you those wonderful questions, and this girl thinks grandmom needs a break from said grandson....your step-mom, not you. Jeez realised how that might sound.
Kitty-little bit is sound asleep on my chest. All is right in the world for that little one.....I sure am enjoying it....simple pleasures, this is one of them

Oh and by the way....this is just eye candy for me....I do not use it...although it does still work. So, if my washing machine doesn't get hooked up, this is always an option....powered by hand of course.

Good morning, ladies!!

Karin~you can share anything with us here. We are all friends and we may not always agree but we can chat about it and then get on with things.

Carol Sue~thanks for the info on the manure. I need to get that issue of Mother Earth News.

I hope my Barnes and Noble has it. I want to go today after my son's art class to pick it up.

Ronna~i hope you have a much better day today.

Bev~I love that machine!!! If you use for laundry you must take a picture for us.

My daughter and I have an orthodontist appt. at 10:30. I need to run to the grocery store after lunch, bank and then to my son's art class. i hope to have time to stop at the bookstore and then back home to finish supper. I really wanted to make bread today but couldn't because of everything going on. I will definitely be baking some tomorrow. Everyone here loves it.

Gotta go set up crock pot with meat for dinner.

Subscribe here and get a year of Mother Earth News for 10 bucks!! Dirt cheap for 6 issues.
You know, it would be fun just to try that washing machine out just once. Then get down on hands and knees and praise your modern appliances.

I believe so, but can't be sure as I haven't gotten my subs yet, I bought it at the grocery store.

Horse manure(fresh)generally they say 6 months. Put on garden in the fall and plant as normal in the spring, but if you put it in a compost bin with other materials it breaks down quicker so you can use sooner.

Gotta go take my son to his art class and grocery shop. I would much rather be here with you all chatting and crocheting today.

Went to the orthodontist this am and still don't know when these are coming off. AARRGGHH!! It will be 3 years June 30. I am so ready to get them off.
