Everybody is doing well. That daddy is all about helping!!!
They came out for lunch today and everyone is relaxed and baby is calm and happy!!

My son AND hubby got contacts this month- in addition to filling ALL our 90 day RX!!!
Also grands bdays and ...well you know how it goes!!!!!!

We have a generator but gasoline could be a problem if the power is out for more than a week or two.
Last hurricane it was no prob- company took care of us so we could be here to work- but the company is now ATT instead of bellsouth now- different policies now. We dont really know alot about how they will treat us.

Blessings,

Monica,
Side by side fridges aren't all they're cracked up to be. I have the biggest I could get at the time, a 27 cu ft KitchenAid and it's just not easy to manuever stuff in the freezer side. If I were to buy again, I'd go with a bottom freezer. Yes, have to dig for stuff, but will still hold more than the side by side. Ideally, would get an all fridge with ice maker only. I really don't use the side by side for too much, even though I have to go to the garage for the freezer.
My daughter has her grandmothers wringer washer. Jerk BIL made a big deal out of no one selling anything that belonged to her and then he put up a for sale sign for the washer and ironing mangle. Lori had a friend buy the washer for her, since he was being such a greedy snot about not letting anyone have anything. She did not make provisions for personal items, only the $$ and property. She'd told Lori all her life she would get the Revere Ware and when time came, jerk said she could have them if she bought him replacements. What the hell did he use to cook in before...okay, off that sore subject. I just do hope to outlive him and hope he hasn't let his dogs destroy the quilts.

Good morning, ladies!!

I am afraid to start looking at Craigslist. I think I could easily become addicted.

I would love to find a place to buy local beef and chicken instead of the grocery store. I get absolutely grossed out when I think about how the meat is processed. I don't think there is anywhere to get fresh, local meat.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day. It was in the 60's and the sun was shining. We cleaned up the yard and we also cleaned out the van. It was a mess. Now it's nice and clean. We went to Lowe's and bought some organic seed starter mix. I am going to get all my seeds started this week. It won't be until sometime in May that we can plant them outside.

It is cold and raining here today. They are saying it's going to change to snow this afternoon. I am so sick of snow. Can't wait until there is no more chance of snow. The high this week is only in the 40's and 20's at night.

I also went to Joanne's and picked up a couple of Simplicity patterns on sale. I finally bought a rotary cutter and mat. I needed one and it was on sale. My parents gave me some money for my birthday so I used that.

Helping the economy. LOL Whenever I go to the store they are always busy. I don't know why they keep saying no one is spending. I see people spending. Lowe's and Joanne's were both busy yesterday.

Gotta go do math with the kids.

Check in later.

Monica, we went for the newer Samsung. There are four doors. The top part is a side by side, but there are two drawers below. This site describes it the best. We really like it. I just noticed the price as well. We paid a lot more for it at Lowes back in June.

I posted some new pictures on my blog of the apron I made for the apron swap and the one I received. There's a picture of the St. Pat's craft, too.

Yucky and rainy so far today. It's so dark. It's a good snuggle and movie day today.

Ronna, I guess in my mind it seems like it would be easier to have shelves in the freezer! My problem sometimes is that when I am digging through the freezer on top I almost have a frozen roast fall on me! I would not mind digging in a bottom freezer. I wouldn't have frozen meats falling on me!

Sharon, I like that fridge, but I know hubby would never go for it! We just put a bunch of money into getting the van running because his truck is dying and he's not even keen on the side-by-side that I found for $100.

Hope you all have a great morning!

I need to remember to pick up a case of canning jars every other week or so as well. Those need no refrigeration when there are power issues and I have a feeling they are going to be in greater demand. Vegetable seed sales have doubled.

I have a two top freezer/ fridges and they are a pain. there are always avalanches. Can't get a new one, though. I would like a freezer, though. Maybe it's time to look on Craigslist.

Bonne~I am doing more of a garden this year than ever before and I am looking forward to canning and freezing alot of it for the winter. Things are getting tough and you need to be able to do more for yourself. Can't rely on others.

Jess~Yeah!! Can't wait to get packages. So much fun.

And if you're tight for $$ now, who isn't, go to Dollar Tree and get the cheapy seeds. What are they, like 10/$1 or so, the basic Carrots, lettuce, beans, corn, I've had no problems with their cheap seeds, going right in the ground after frost danger. Peppers and tomatoes start them inside now. For under $5 you'll have plenty of seeds to get you going.

Monica, gotta do what is best for you and your finances. If you're buying new and money is not the factor, then you go for what you really want. Just for kicks, start a survey on across the fence or one of the other forums and ask how many with side by sides would choose it again. No freezer or bottom freezer would be my choice. Mine is 12 yrs old, no telling how long it will keep going. Probably longer than a family with kids at home, where it would be opened a hundred times a day.

I'm afraid I'm stuck with a side by side for time being..I hope for a good while actually since we've got to replace the heat/air system.. I do agree with y'all though..they are not as efficient for storage...I'll get a small freezer for the laundry room.

I've canned but years ago...I'll have to start with a simple water bath. This year I will not grow anything since I'll be traveling back and forth but there are many farmers locally that I'm gonna be able to buy from and do some canning..meanwhile, I will start stocking the pantry with can goods...gotta be ready for next winter.

Any amount of snow and I can't get out of my driveway or the road into the house...it's a steady rise upward for an 1/8th of a mile or better.

And if you're shopping via Craigslist, contact the party quickly and get over to see it fast too. 10 people called about the freezer the first hour it was posted and we showed up first. Mwwaagghhhh! Keep some cash squirreled away in the house just for impromptu Craigslist finds, as you'll want to have exact cash on hand to pay. The longer you hem and haw about an item, the more likely you are to miss out on a deal. I've got a good partner in crime when it comes to flying outta here at the drop of a hat. lol "wanna go see a ____??? Let's go!"

On a different subject.....take a look at this.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090309/pl_nm/us_usa_china_navy

And we are now drowning in debt to these mean crazy a&& people....Really makes you wonder who is sitting in that white house right now. No one should ever question the day when they pop up to tell us how we are gonna live in this country since they now own us.

Ok, daily political newscast is over! LOL

I had a side by side one time. It was not my favorite. My mom had one for years and she liked hers. She also has an upright freezer in her basement that she uses, too.

I didn't know that Dollar Tree had good seeds. I ordered heirloom seeds from SSE. I also traded some seeds with others to save some money.

Here, I have to start alot of seeds indoors because it's cold until about the beginning of May. By the end of the month, everything will be in the greenhouse.

Jess~so true and so scary. They know that our darling president will not want any altercations and they will be pushing us around. I can totally see them taking us over. My favorite is the pres wants to meet with members of the Taliban. How wonderful~Maybe we can all be friends.
