Bev how goes the packing? Thanks for caring no worries I will be fine.
Bonnie that is what I did today washed bedding and made 3 containers of laundry soap. I like you don't feel any film just clean fresh smell. I also use the tennis balls in dryer. I think you save in the long run. I use a canning jar to place grated soap after they dry out. That way I don't have to grate all the time and it is ready.
Sharon cute quilt very nice. Did you applique each one? Wow
Linda cute dolly and apron we to did half aprons for the swap. I haven't made to many I must confess.
Autumn you just probably have slow metabolisim and yes as we age it is harder to lose it no matter what we do. Quit freaking out your concentrating on it to much. Its like someone trying to get pregnent after medical is clear they are to focused so it doesn't happen. Watching water boil takes a very long time. You look fine to me. If it is still bothering you talk to a dietician that might help you get results. |

Doesn't matter what others say you look like..it matters what self image you have...mentalpause has a way of screwing with mind, body and spirit...something that you just have to work out on your own. It seems to take years....

No squares yet Autumn I was hoping when I went to get mail something happy would be there. I can't wait to see them. Maybe tomorrow surley by the end of week I swear postal gets slower. Funny how bills only take a couple days. I guess you had no eggs or baby today, shucks |

Nuts Ruth we were hoping it was part of the total cost.....we do what we have to do now don't we....sorry it wasn't more help.
Bev, Peter Reinhart's book is great because it has techinque as well as recipe and the bread bible is good as well. Yes, hubby has both of them and loved them. He is our resident sourdough break maker, he has been for the last 12 years.
Jess didn't find him....not yet anyway. Wish you had his infor darn it....

Good morning....it is so good to be part of the conversation again...now if I could just keep up...that's the problem.
Autumn...I agree with just about everybody...and I don't think it's vanity. If your weight is up too long, it affects your health...so you are smart to try to get on top of it. But I also agree that menopause plays with your mind and your self image too...so don't be too hard on yourself. And like Carrie says...it doesn't happen over night and if it DOES...it won't stay off. So, hang in there...be good...take care of yourself...and get plenty of sleep...that seems to help if you can. And remember...no matter what, we love you just like you are!!!!!!!! Ok , enough of that!
Sharon, your embroidered quilts are just the best...I remember the lady bug one you did a while back...adorable. I need a tutorial on how to grab embroidery designs from the web and then save to the embroidery machine....but that is another day (probably another year!)
Stephie...what is happening in your neck of the woods???? Moving?
Ok, as for me, I have moved two huge pick up loads into storage the past two days. Today I have to go back up to the farm and meet with contractor. The interior walls are all framed now, so I have to tell him which walls get tongue and groove and which get drywall.
I ordered my new beehives for this year. I am taking over the beekeeping position full time, now. And...have been taking a course at the local college on Monday nights in preparation. I think I have learned a lot...but still more to learn. This year I will have 10 hives....hopefully a good honey harvest for all who are interested. And since I won't have a home to take care of this summer, I can dedicate more time to beekeeping and gardening. Man, I cannot wait for Spring. This continuous frigid weather we have had is getting old.
As for laundry soap...I probably won't have a washer or dryer for 4-5 months, so I will be down at the creek beating the clothes on a rock!!
Well....all have a good day....must get busy!

Bev, thinking about your beehives, you need to get a Karelian Bear Dog~"The Karelian Bear Dog is currently being used in some of the National Parks in bear management and control. They are an effective and humane way to keep bears out of unwanted areas. Bear Dogs will stand up to bears to protect their masters. They are very courageous as they will ward off wolf, moose and bear." My hubs wants one, but I wouldn't get one living in the city~they are more suited for country/mtns.http://www.dogbiz.com/dogs-grp3/karelian/karelian.htm

WAAAHAHAHAHA! I can just see Bev down at the stream beating her clothes on a rock!!!!!
If I go to the dr and she says no dibetes or anything I'll just have to keep doing what Im doing- Cant do much else! I have already adjusted my outlook so I can live with what seems to be the "new me" I just dont want to end up immoble and unhealthy in a few more years. A close relative had gastric bypas- and I feel soooo sorry for her-she never changed her eating habits and she is putting all that weight back on!!!She went through the skin skimming and everything-not to mention several life threatening scares. I dont think I would ever go that route- but she was quite large. Changed her personality too. Anyway- that's not a consideration-I am anti-surgery about everything-within reason.

Ny dh's sister is like that put it on take it off and back on. But she gets 200 pounds over which is bad. All the up and down is what is hard on your heart and bad for health. Too much is a bad thing because they are slowly killing themselves. But you have to be pretty heavy to worry. I can see how that would weigh on your head seeing your relative go through that. But you have the mind set it will not happen for you so I am sure it won't. Talk with your dietician they help enormously on ways to take it off and keep it off and you are the type that will listen and follow through. I hope you feel better about yourself soon Autumn you have so much good in you I hate to see you fall apart. Hugs |

I was just looking at Ruth's blog~she's modeling a cute pink/black apron from her secret pal. You know what else is secret? She's got orbs hovering around her. One shows up near the apron hem, and there's another spot behind her hip on the right. You can see her shadow against the radiator, and a white spot that shows up between her and her shadow. You can see it best when you click on the picture. MMMWWWAAAAggghhhhhh!!!

Bonne~you are too funny. I didn't even notice that. I was trying to get my daughter to take pictures quickly because we had classes that day. She took that when I wasn't even looking so I just used it.
Autumn~That is very hard. My mom never put on weight until she hit menopause. I am heading in the same direction. I am like her in almost everything.
I need to finish sewing my apron today. I'm making bread, doing laundry and have to make my St. Pat's day craft. The kids have gym this afternoon, too and I have to buy more flour. I hope I get everything done. The bathroom could use a good cleaning, too. If I get all this done today I will be thrilled.

Posted - Feb 25 2009 : 06:40:28 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Went to the doctor yesterday for routine check-up. I was glad I was seeing him because I was having problems with eating and sleeping. On top of all my other problems I have a hiatal hernia and reflux. While I was there I had the embarrassment of vomiting and soiling myself. Thankfully my husband got me to the bathroom in time and he did help clean up as best as possible. During taking my vitals they found I had a temp. and my breathing was labored. They did an xray and thankfully my lung was clear. He put me on and antibiotic and now I'm on oxygen therapy. When is it ever going to end? Linda (a rose) Remember me as a rose. |

Bev. I can just picture you beating clothes on a rock. So...there isn't any laundry places around? I was fortunate. Whenever our machine would break, our neighbors would offer their machines, but then we don't live on a farm either. We live on a cul-de-sac, and there are 10 houses on our block.

That's what she needs a Karelian for. The bears kept raiding the hives.
I'm depressed today. Couldn't go visit son~he has pink eye.(One of his car-pooling buddies had it and shared) We quarantine each other when sick so it doesn't get passed around. I was all set to do some hardcore cooking~lol Now I just have to look at my own chores that need done, plus wrangle with the tax returns. phooey
