On Craigslist, make an offer. I rarely pay the stated price. Even if it's half, they may bite if it's been listed a while. That's what Jess does. She says, "call me when you'll take $xx"

Carol Sue, I knew I could count on you to enable me!!! It was me with the earache! It's getting better, but my throat is still sore! I don't have any place to put one right now anyway! I have 100 bags of cotton in my hubby's van and he needs it out so he can get it running! I have no idea where to put it! Things are so up in the air right now and so tense with where we are staying that half the time hubby is literally ready to buy a trailer and go camp in the desert for a bit! AAAAAHHHHHHHGGGGGGGG!!
Seriously though please say a prayer for us that something will work out with a house for us! Things are getting way to strained with where we are at and unfortunately it's a friends house so it's not just a landlord thing, it's putting a huge strain on the friendship! I think the hardest thing is sometimes I just want to vent for a moment, but I can't say anything to anyone I know here because in a small town of 200, you know how stuff gets around and it's not my intent to hurt anyone feelings!!! Just a lot of plans dashed!

Monica, my theory (which needs done in needlepoint or embroidery for me) is that women have to talk things out to keep them from festering inside and eating at them. Men just burp of fart and think it's all okay.
Sooo, vent away, this is a good place to do it...online or privately to those you've bonded with.
Do hope your living situation is remedied before WW3 erupts in Arizona. Oh yes, I do know the small town atmosphere.

Ronna-I often tell people that women are assigned a certain number of words per day and we HAVE to get them out!!!!Part of that is venting!!!!

Busy here right now-life is challenging!
Nothing bad-just busy and active!!!

Ronna, I agree with 100%! Hubby is going to bed so I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow to vent!!!

Good night ladies! I don't say this often enough, but I love you all and really value your friendships!!!!!

Carol Sue, I have some pics of fabric for you I will post tomorrow! I would have done it tonight, but I had to go on a hunt for batteries for my camera!

Monica, hang in there. It is nice that you have a roof over your head, but I can understand the frustration of wanting to be in a place of your own.

Great fabrics~Monica!!

Whenever you want to purge them let me know. I would love a fabric stash but am short on the cash to buy new. We could barter. Let me know. I am going to Joanne's today. I will look and see if I can get you an issue of Apronology.

Ruth, I am packing up a flat rate box for you! Do you want some quilt magazine too! I can throw some in the box! I was going to try to sell some, but sometimes the hassle to try to sell one here and there isn't worth it! I think I may just put a price on the whole stack on my etsy page and hopefully they will sell!
I wish the Lord would just let me win the lottery so I could just send stuff to people!

Okay, to vent a bit more about the house situation, here is the whole tale! We moved here 4 years and it is our friend John's house! He said we could stay here and he didn't want rent, he just wanted us to take care of the maintenance which was fine because hubby does all that! The biggest problem that we have run into is that John also has a place in North Carolina and so he is back and forth! A lot of times when we want to do something he says to wait until he gets back so things get put on hold. John had asked if we would be interested in buying the house and at first we were, but we didn't have the money and then we found out that the house is only worth about 1/4 of what he wanted and that he paid way too much! Gary-my hubby has even talked to him about fixing it up and renting it out and splitting the profits because Gary could do all the work to fix it up and that is what we started to do! I have taken half of the awful paneling down in the front room and in the bedroom. Now John has decided he doesn't want to put money into the house he just wants us to pay some rent and Gary is frustrated enough that he isn't going to put a dime of our money into finishing what was already started!
The biggest thing is not paying some rent because John doesn't want much, only like $100 or so a month it's that Gary is feeling pressured to buy the place or live in it as is and there are things that need fixed! Not major stuff, but just things that need done!

I am to the point of screaming because I don't want a fancy house, but I would like to have a nice place and there are so many things half done now which just looks even worse! My girls room used to be the kitchen and it had fake brick on the wall and we took off the brick, but it needs plastered and I don't have enough to finish it! I would love to have a pretty room for my girls and I can't because I am stuck between 2 stubborn men!!!!! I even have a 20 yard bolt of pink satin to make bed covers with and there is no point of doing them when I have no clue what is going on!!! I can't believe how much this really bothers me because I am about ready to cry typing this!

There is a house that Gary's boss owns that would be perfect for us, but it's not finished and it may be a year before it's done! Where we are at is realistically too small!

Any way there is my venting! Please pray that we can get something going financially! If we could come up with the money to buy the other house it also come with a rental which would bring in some money! I am going to try to get some clothes going on etsy which may be a long shot, but not completely impossible! There is a girl selling clothes since June and she has sold over 400 pieces averaging $100.00 each so maybe I can get something made that will really move!

By the way the other house will have a big finished attic and hubby had already said 2/3 of it would be my sewing area, partly because he said he doesn't want to see fabric in the front room!!! I guess a girl can dream can't she!!

Thank you for letting me vent!

stuck between 2 stubborn men

That's the problem, right there. $100 rent is dirt cheap, even in a tiny town. Easy to say, but if you could convince Gary of that, you'd be able to relax a bit until the other house is done and ready. Figure it this way, the money and work put into the house already, without paying rent, has been a benefit to all of you. If it's mostly labor, consider the sweat equity Habitat for Humanity requires for recipients of their houses. What would a comparable house cost you to rent in that area? If you're going to be there awhile, do what you can that isn't costly to make it more livable. Hang something on the wall in the girls room and make their bedcovers, you'll still be able to use them elsewhere. Larry and I lived rent free in a house for about 6 years and didn't realize how good we had it. Didn't do a lot other than paint and carpets, but we made it a home. Was supposed to be $50 mo rent (this was early to late 60's), but was never asked for anything and didn't offer :) Try to look at it as a glass half full rather than half empty. Important is to have the two men not at each others throats. John is probably mad about paying too much for the place and that's not your fault. My son did a lease option on a house here when the prices were sky high. When he realized the house was not worth half of what they wanted, he decided not to buy it and they were very unhappy. Tried to collect all sorts from him, but it was rented and new tenant moved in before Jerry's rent was up, so he refused. Made a big dent in the friendship, but sometimes that happens.
Hang in there, this too shall pass and it will all work out fine in the end.

Monica,
This is a tough situation. I am praying that things work out for your family. That you will be able to have a place to call home filled with love and peace and not stress.
Blessings,
