You girls were kind to me, and Nay I want to see that corset.......
Steph you will have to show us that pattern if you go for it.
Autumn, dang girl your truffles sounded good.
Yes, late, dealing with pain, but life does go on and I have lots of pages to still catch up on to find out what you girls were up to the last 7 days....
Animals all snuggled in with me, I think they have missed me just a little and they are great foot warmers tonight on the couch.
Steph, what the heck, tornados stuff, ehh gads woman. Yep, still cold here and a skiff of snow overnight, but I keep seeing robins girls and have for the last week....spring she will be a coming....

Good morning, ladies!!

Bonne~I love the aprons~so cute. Those are the best patterns.

Autumn~Truffles~Yum!!

Naomi~I can't wait to see the pics. I love the peasant blouses. I don't think I could do a corset. I leave that for the younger generation.

How is everyone? Yesterday was a horrible~crazy day. My daughters DIVE cd that teaches her her Algebra II lessons got a crack in it a while ago. Mind you I don't know how. It was $50 brand new and yesterday it just decided to stop working. I spent most of the morning trying to figure out what was wrong with it. Very frustrating. I don't want to have to buy a new one. I am hoping that it will work today.

Then the kids had gym class in the afternoon, we went grocery shopping, cleaned the bathroom and living room (both needed it bad), colored my hair and got the lesson ready to teach today.

The kids have coop classes all day. I hope to get a good picture taken and up this afternoon.

Have a good one.

Ruthie, now you need a couple different sized round brushes and blowdryer. After I cut my hair shorter, I couldn't just wash/wear it anymore. It has a natural wave to it here and there and in order to get it to look smooth I've got to blow dry it on the brushes. Only takes 10mins or so but I look so much more polished than before~easier to color than long hair too ;) I think I was hanging on to long hair mostly because of my husband, but it wasn't the same hair I had in my youth. After the grey started to come in in my late 30's, it lost the silky lustre. Of course hubs doesn't have a single grey and all his hair does is go more blonde from the red as he ages .pfffstt!!!!

Yeah, when I got my hair cut, it got sooo much easier to take care of...I understand now why most people keep their hair short...

I'll try to get a picture soon of the corset...maybe not on...but on my dress form...

Ruth, I like your haircut!! It's very cute!!

Steph, What happened with the skirt was... I live in a little western town and there are groups that do gunfights! One of the groups is my friend Linda and Tom's group, they also have a shop here! They had called because a girl, whose boyfriend does gunfights with them every so often, wanted a skirt! I talked to the girl and was trying to come up with a price off the top of my head and when I got off the phone I realized I forgot to have Linda get money down, but when I called back they had already left! It was for Halloween and they were going to pick it up the next weekend so I did it and gave it to Linda to give to them! The next weekend only Travis came up and not his girlfriend and he said he didn't know he was supposed to pay for it and I never thought they wouldn't have the money when they got it so I never thought to tell Linda not to give it to them if they didn't have the money and she did! They were up here Thanksgiving weekend and I happened to be at my friend Cindy's shop next door spinning yarn! Linda told them I was next door and said to take care of it with me and the girlfriend told Travis she had, but she didn't and they have not been up here since then!! So part of it was my fault, but I don't do many custom orders at all and probably won't do any after that!

I hope you all have a great day!!!

Okay, avoid this if you aren't up for a wee bit more whining and snivelling from the frozen north! Well today the car place in Bangor called and I do need a new transmission so that has really made a brain explosion imminent. They are checking on a used one, but I probably won't be able to afford it anyway. What a bore! I hate cars! JUst when I thought I was getting a tiny break, ah well, I guess I just have to think of something else and try to come up with some brilliant idea. Ha!

Bonne, I bet you could fit in that apron, you look so slim and cute in your sundresses. It looks like one of those old photos of the women in the late 1800s who would have their lower ribs removed so they could have the coveted "wasp waist". What fun patterns though, thanks for posting them.
I'mlooking forward to seeing Naomi in her corset, that is such a wonderful look for the young and those who love to play dress up ( I would think that would include all of us).

On a happier note, I got an email this morning from a woman who goes to the Michigan quilt retreat with me and she got a copy of a
French magazine that she subscribes to called Quilt Mania and the latest issue #69 has an article about the 2008 Houston International Quilt show and there is a picture of my quilt in it! No one around here carries Quilt Mania, I guess it is published in French and in English, but I emailed my friend Beth who lives near
Boston, to keep her eye peeled for a copy.

Right, I better go check on my kid, make sure she's still alive....

Sorry to be such a sniveller about the carr, but when you live in the back of beyond that's the one thing it is hard to do without.

Ruth, your haircut looks great, very stylish.

I see karma written all over that one. You did the good thing, Monica, the gal that got the skirt didn't~she'll wind up "paying" for that later.
It's all Ruthie's fault now~I'm in the bathroom with the scissors and mirrors~lol
was looking at how-to's
http://www.ukhairdressers.com/diy/index.asp
and now decided I needed a trim.

Crap, Karin!! Well, see if they can locate a rebuilt transmission and have them quote you a price. My engine blew a few months after I'd bought a used car but it was "cheaper" to replace the engine than get another vehicle. Nothing cheap about it, but what can you do? Get out the credit card and pay off over time.

Karin, I pick up the Quilt Mania mag at Books a Million..that copy must have just come out?? I've got the last one and don't recall anything about Houston and I know I would have spotted your Owl quilt! I'll go look for it tomorrow. The car stuff is such a drag..I really hate this aggravation and expense for you.

Bonne, for an up do I like this one.
http://www.ukhairdressers.com/diy/index3.asp
Style with the look of a mess

Ruth, Your haircut is nice and shaggy...I like it. it's the way I'd keep mine if I cut it...of course, I always preferred shags to polished looks...The days of round brushs and blow dryers are way gone for me...I'm glad Bonne has the stamina to keep up that maintenance..LOL Yeah, I know, she's gonna say, it only takes 10 minutes or so...that's a 10 minutes too long for me. And since I have natural grey streaks coming in nicely I will not be coloring my hair anymore. I paid all that money to get streaks now I can honestly say something about aging IS a benefit.

Monica, I do understand...some people love custom orders BUT they have ironclad policies that go along with them..the only way to do it..I think everyone has had a blooper with a custom order as you have..our nature wants to trust people but in the end you can't unless you are wanting the order to be a possible gift or worse a dust rag

Bonne, What was so infuriating about the whole thing is when they did come to town and were at the store 30 feet from the one I was at and could not have the decency to come and see me and then the girl told her boyfriend she had taken care of it! I would dump her!

Steph, I actually would have kept the skirt! It was a long black cotton slip with lace around the bottom! She wanted it to wear under something else and I would have worn it! Usually if I do a custom order I get all sown up front! One time I did a wedding outfit and 3 bridesmaid outfits and I got all the money down up front and I charged her extra when she wanted to add somethings! This one just caught me off guard!

Thank you ladies for the compliments. The pictures wouldn't cooperate but I wanted it cut like the character Alice in the Twilight movie. As soon as I saw the movie I knew I wanted it cut that way. Now I have to get used to styling it that way.

Bonne~thanks for the info on menopause~those days are fast approaching here and I want to use only natural and herbals things. No chemicals and hormones to kill me.

Karin~getting a rebuilt transmission is much better if you can. They work just as well but much less expensive. You can even have them get a transmission from a junk yard and put it in your car.

Monica~what that girl did is horrible. I don't know how people live with themselves and don't care.

We just got home from classes. I have to go catch up on some housework and make some ribbon scarves. My mom wants one and she'll take some to work to try and sell.

Catch you all later.

Then you are going to need some mousse or a bit of lightweight gel & wax to get some of that
spikey stuff going on. "hair products" will be your friend.

Ruth, I like your hair cut and with a bit of time and practice you will get it just like you want it. I have to say Alice haircut is cool.

Monica, hi girlfriend. Twenty twenty hindsight is always so much better and custom orders are quite the challenge I would think for any of you girls. Yep, money up front for sure.

Karin, Congratulations Karin, you are in the magazine, now how cool is that. As for the car, good gravy girl you so need a break. You need your wheels.....

Bonne and Steph one of you have to get that apron cause this girl so so so so wants a copy of the pattern, now how is that for selfish, it has chickens girls, chickens!!!!!!

Yes, my butt is resting on the couch, I do not have the energy to do much else in all honesty. Sewing will be waiting for a while while my body tries to recooperate some. It means I can play a bit here, when I am not napping.......I know, I know the life of luxury...lol

Yes, Carrie, I cut it. Been cutting my own hair for years. Needed a trim~1/2" nothing different.

Finally got my apron dress cut out~if it's ugly it will just be an apron, if it's cute it will be a dress. lol I love old patterns!!! Half the fun is looking at the envelope pictures.

Autumn, and Naomi, your packages are on their way.

Jess, I wonder what is taking your package so long to arrive. It was sent in a flat rate priority rate box.

Isn't that adorable?? $14/yd~s/b silk~lol

Good news ladies. If you browsed through Susun Weed's site you saw this under:
Wise Woman Ways
Premenopausal Years~
Gain up to a pound a year for ten years. Thin women have more hot flashes and an altogether more difficult menopause than heavier women. Fat cells produce estrone, a kind of estrogen. (If you won't let yourself gain ten pounds, at least stop trying to lose weight. Dieting decreases bone mass and weakens the heart.)

That fabric is sweet. What wonderful stuff the Japanese make. Steph, I'm not quiote sure which magazine it is, I think #69, it has an article about the Houston show. I was just amazed to think of my quilt in a magazine. If you get a copy, maybe you could scan the picture and send it to me.

I'm still basically mentally paralyzed at the moment, just a tad overwhelmed i guess. A strange rainy and kind of sludgy day, the air feels really thick today.

My friend Victoria brought us some fresh asparagus soup to have for supper tonight. I love it when someone else cooks. Vegging out here, I didn't sleep much last night. Time for even more coffee I think...
