I'm so torqued. This is the reason I don't care to do "special orders".
I was to do 2 hat/scarf sets in specific colors for a gal for her girls~I emailed her pics of what I did and never heard back. Make another inquiry as they were to be V-Day gifts and now I hear, "the girls don't like berets, forget Valentines and do them differently for Easter"
How about ,"forget it completely and I won't waste anymore of my time and supplies?"
I broke my "special orders" rule and got bitten....again. arghhhh!!!

Otherwise, I've got another sundress planned. It's an apron style simple wrap dress~My sister sent me the pattern saying that she'd done a couple before and they turned out cute~I'm hoping so. I've got some embroidered ltwt denim I want to try it in.

Teresa, I never thought about not being able to take homemade cupcakes! A friend of mine said the same thing! I took cupcakes last year and this year so I guess either it's okay or the teachers don't know it's not okay! Isaiah's teacher was excited they were home made and not store bought! I wouldn't take anything with peanut butter!

Bonne, Why does she want berets if the girls don't like them?

Evidently her idea of "hats" means something other than what I made, only she didn't say that when she requested "hats". pffstt!! I have a difficult time adhering to requests as it is, but when they get rejected, I say, "go somewhere else and buy it, I'm not your granny~what you see is what you get". Oh, No , I could never work in retail~I'd wind up choking someone.

Backgrounds, go to "customize", "pick a new template" to use one of Bloggers preordained ones. To do the "cutest blog on the blog" ones, you follow their instructions:
To apply this background, follow the following steps (REQUIRED)

1. Sign in to Blogger. This will take you to your Dashboard.
2. Under the blog you wish to change the background for, click on Layout.
3. You are now in the 'Add and Arrange Page Elements' screen. Click 'Add a Gadget'.
4. You are now in the 'Add a Gadget' screen. Scroll down to where it says 'HTML/JavaScript'. Next to that, click on the (+) sign.
5. You are now in the 'Configure HTML/JavaScript' Screen. Under Content you'll see a large box, paste the entire following HTML code in that space.
6. Click 'Save'.

Bonne, sorry for your custom order woes...I don't ever do custom orders without 100% paid up front before beginning the job. That way you eliminate the customer that doesn't know what they want or can't make a decision and stick to it...you don't waste your time, energy and materials...and, no refunds on custom orders..this always worked for me when I was doing the memory quilts. You really get rid of all those that are looking for something for next to nothing or those that can't make a decision and stick to it.

-----

Carol Sue and T...glad you are headed home..Hope your weather is good these days..we've got 35mph winds right now and blue skys..thankfully I believe all that horrible tornado weather went north of us.

Stephanie and Bonnie, I got burned on a special order. It was over 10 years ago now, and dh's co-worker. Back then I hand-painted baskets. His co-worker wanted a white basket with a red trim for Valentine's Day. The co-worker was going to purchase some things to put in the basket. After the basket was done, dh took it in to work. I was told that she had changed her not long after requesting the special order. Since then, she has wanted me to do other things for her, but I don't do it for her any more. On the website, customers need to pay for their custom order aprons, and there are no refunds either.

Bonne- I HATE doing special orders- we must be too independant for them!!!
I would rather spend $20 on supplies and countless hours to make something as a gift than to make $20 on a special order for ANYBODY! Just not driven to make a buck bad enough to put up with folks' idiosyncricies(How do you spel that?)

I have so many people that want me to make things for ther shop-so I can make extra money- I dont think I need extra money- we have a nice life.
What I dont need is people making me crazy!!!!
OK -Off the soapbox again!!!!

Now if I could make $200,000 of a single painting(or a quilt) like the 13 yr old on TLC last night I might reconsider!

Karin-SO glad Zan is home!
Ronna- tomorrow is bread day-if nothing comes up!!! I can hardly wait!!!
Steph- I'm afraid to look at the wonderful goodies you keep posting-I must finish my current projects!!! AGHHH!!!
Carol Sue & Theresa-safe trip home-and bless you for helping that niece. Angels indeed.
Ruth-where's the picture of your new do???
Sheryl lyn- I just love the name Sadie-so sweet and granny-ish!!!
Hmmm-who did I forget????
Gotta go read again!

Blessings,
Autumn

Bonne~Sorry to hear about the trouble with your special order. That really stinks. People can be such pains.

Autumn~today was a crazy busy day. I have hardly had time to get a picture done. I will try to get one tomorrow.

Wanted to stop in and say hi. It's been so busy today and yesterday. I got my tea cozy done for the swap though. I still need to get busy and make my apron.

Catch you all later.

Well, I got my petsitting ck in the mail today so I plan on spending it on a pressure canner and saucer. Such a spendthrift I am!! lol It will pay for itself in the end~gonna make that garden work for me this year like none other. I want my pantry to look like Lanna's or how grandma's used to~are you listening granny? I'll be needing some spiritual guidance on this please.... LOL
Come August, people will ask me what I want for my birthday and I'll say,"canning jars pleez"

Autumn, I am totally with you on spending time and money for a gift than messing with people changing their minds!!!

Naomi, I am looking forward to pics of the corset! They really are not too bad to make!

Bonne, the McCall 1944 apron pattern is too cute...are you bidding on it? If not, I'm going to..if I don't forget...just don't want to be bidding again someone I know..LOL

Monica....you don't do custom orders without being paid upfront! I guess you've learned that lesson now. People are not apt to change their minds once they've paid for it knowing there are no refunds.

That was probably my first learned lesson when I started my business. You start working for the public and you find out how many people are out there looking for something for nothing and are offended at paying you "more" than slave labor fees.

Autumn, I'm right there with you as a child of the 70's. I made the smock tops in Home Economics class that were such the rage back then....when they showed up on the garment racks several years back I knew we were in trouble..LOL
