Suzanne, I would totally get one for $9.00! The closest Joanns is in Las Vegas 2 1/2 hours away! I did check online and I found a %40 off coupon, but they don't have the magazine! Oh well!

Monica~I will see if there are more than one and I can go back next week with another coupon and pick it up for you for 40% off, then I'll mail it to you. Does that sound ok?

just a tip, magazines can not be mailed at the lower media rate, only books. When I mailed the quilt book to Karin last week, I left the envelope unsealed and when the clerk questioned me, I told her to open and look if she didn't believe me. She used to be very nice, but sure has been snotty recently.
I winced at paying just over $16 with tax for Apronology, but it is a very cool book and has our very own Bev's apron to make it worthwhile.

Ronna, Thanks for the heads up on sending magazines media! My mom and I learned the hard way on what is and isn't media! She sent a box of about 20 books for the kids and she had two pattern-a-day calendars in there for me! Somewhere along the way it was checked and it was an additional $14.00 because they recalculated postage for the whole box as parcel post! My mom even asked the guy at the post office if he wanted to check it and he said no, that's okay! She never thought there would be a problem with them!

Well, I did my good deed today and did a good purge as well. Gave a single mom in need a huge trash sack full of fabric and a sewing machine. She was thrilled!! That was payment enough to see her face light up. Now I don't have any "new" sewing machines ('cept my serger)~all oldies but goodies.
Also baked 3 loaves of bread and finished up another circular cotton rug and got 1/2 way on another. Pretty productive day. ;)

Seems the post office has gotten really picky on how things are mailed. They've priced themselves out of the market for packages IMHO. And we all know the service is just not all that great.

Well- Sadie is resting after being fed today-
That's what I named my new starter!!!! Are you laughing??????

OK- next I let her sit in the fridge or the counter top covered?

And when can I bake my first loaf of bread?

I feel like I have custody of somebodys child!!!!I am so scared of messing it up!!
I am determined to bake my bread weekly.
I tried the bread in Mother Earth News and it was good-but got too dry too fast-likely my own fault.
Jess sent me a yummy recipe so Ill try that when I'm allowed to use Sadie.

Bonne-I am still studying the spinning.
I have a bit of it spun but I have no idea if its right. Probably trying too hard!Tomorrow I'll have a bit more time-all 14 uniforms are standing at attention in the closet!!!

Blessings,
Autumn

Most of you gals get to see snow up close, and I know that you get tired of too much. We only see snow at a distance.

Ronna, I have to say the best place I have ever dealt with is DHL! Even though their prices were hard to figure, I would get a package all the way from my mom in Ohio, in 2 days! Too bad they are closing down!

Bonne, Sounds like you have been busy today! Isn't it fun to give stuff away!!

Sadie, I like that Autumn. You can bake with it as soon as you have enough for your recipe plus some left to feed for the next time. Can feed it every day, when the bubbles slow down, it's eaten all the flour and can be fed and watered again. When you won't be using it, especially in your warm humid area, just put it covered in the fridge. I use a tupperware with the spout lid and just don't close the spout tight, that way it has room for the gasses to leave and not pop the top off. Honest, it's a very hardy starter that will be just fine without being babied. Just mark the container so someone doesn't think it's something gone bad and toss it. Enjoy it! yes, Jess and Bonne both have good recipes and I also posted one with yeast for a San Francisco type sourdough near the beginning of the Bread the MaryJane Way thread in the kitchen. It will take much longer to rise without commercial yeast, needs to be nearly double when you bake it. Most of those newbies to bread baking just went by the clock and had bricks.

Ronna, You just reminded me of when my hubby threw my starter out! It was about 9 years ago and I didn't have it marked! He thought it was something spoiled!

Bonne~It was so great of you to help that mom. I know she must really appreciate it. You were one very busy and productive lady.

I didn't know magazines couldn't go media mail. I have been mailing a bunch of them out that way. I even told the lady at the post office they were magazines and they didn't say anything. Live and learn. I wouldn't send the Apronology that way because I wouldn't want it to get lost or ruined.

Monica~I will let you know for sure when I get it and send it out.

Doing school here right now. I have all my packages ready to go to the post office. I made a cute valentine heart wall hanger yesterday. I will have to post pics on my blog later.

Today is the day~I am cutting off my hair. I'll try to post pics of that once I get home this afternoon.

Thanks Ruth. The snow on the mountain tops is most likely gone now. We usually only have a view like that for a short time.

I hope that some one is warm this morning!!! It was 30 when I got up! We actually had some snow yesterday evening for a little bit! This morning when I went to take Isaiah to the bus I could not get my doors open at all on the Jeep! Everything was frozen shut! I figured he would miss the bus so I would just give him a "free day" and he said "No, Let's run"! So we took of in the dark to catch the bus! It's not that far to go, probably 1/8 of a mile, but this is also the kid who half the time says he's never going to school again when I try to get him up in the morning!!! Go figure! My hands were numb by the time I got back home!! At least today is nice and sunny which is good because I have to go to the market!

Ruth, I am not sure what I am naming my starter yet!! Either Lily or Henry! Haven't decided yet!

I hope everyone stays warm today! It's 47 at my mom's in Ohio! What weird weather!

Good morning, well I don't know how good it is, Zan is on day four in the ICU, She may be able to come home today, but I hope they didn't tell her that unless they know for sure, because they had tald her she could go home every day and then changed their minds. She called me in tears twice yesterday, I got a ride to the hospital from a friend and spent a few hours with her and them bummed a ride home from a friend of my son. the infection she has is finally starting to respond to the antibiotic she is on, but her blood sugars are still all over the map, because of her stress level. Her doctor there sounds like kind of a jerk, so I'm going to have to have a little chat with her before Zan leaves.

Had my car hauled off to a different garage to see what they have to say about the transmission. I am just so overtired and angry about this whole car repair adventure, I hope it will be resolved soon. Probably not.

I'm going to have a cup of coffee and call the garage, and then call my daughter.

Karin, I will keep praying for Zan!!! I am sorry to hear about your car too! Unfortunately a lot of mechanics will rip you off or are just plain idiots! You really don't need this especially with Zan being sick right now! I am praying the new garage will take care of it! Hang in there!!!
