Except, when you give away canned items as gifts, be sure to require that they return the jar. I gave out dozens of jars of jelly, Xmas b/4 last, and not a single jar made it back. Lots of vintage jars I'd gotten from my neighbor~I'm still steaming about it, as I had to go purchase new.
Ronna, what color is the fabric of your mini-aprons? You must have them packaged and ready to mail by now, I'm certain.........

OK...maybe I'm not put out to pasture but sometimes I'd like to be! You mean I'm not getting old?? My birthday is in 2 weeks...I may be thinking about that.
I am cooking simple spaghetti. He is turning out to be picky...doesn't like garlic, doesn't like onions, doesn't like mushrooms and only likes certain kind of salad dressing...he only drinks one certain kind of drink too. I told him to bring his own drink. If I cook for him again he gets the same thing...hopefully I remember it all. Or maybe plain pizza and he better not complain! Does this sound picky to you???

LOL Give it time~you'll know if it's "too picky" in time. Sometimes "picky" men make good cooks themselves because they fix things the way THEY want it. If he doesn't cook and is picky then I'd have to give him a boot in the arse, but that's just me.

I agree! My X husband was so picky that I got tired of trying and memorizing every little thing (like his mother taught him) I made him do most of the cooking..he is a good cook. You should have seen the daggers my mother in law sent me the day she saw him walk in the house after work and started getting out his pans to cook. Guess what I did! I got up and went in the other room so I didn't have to look at her...LOL He kept cooking. I didn't say anything but I know that she doesn't know the whole story and I wasn't going to explain to her either. MILs can be tricky, can't they?

yes, I saw that most were blue, but had already gathered xmas fabrics..really, the fabric and trim are ready and waiting. Know of at least one other set being done in red/green,so I won't be the only one. Not that I care, have always done things a bit different. Black, okay, I'll know which are yours when I get them. |

Autumn ~ Well, last year we ran out of green beans a few weeks before they started ripening again, and the jam shelf is looking pretty bare (since I just did strawberry and raspberry freezer jam last year). I'm working on figuring out how much of things we need. I'm sure we'll decimate the applesauce in time for apple harvest this year - it's my lazy way of doing fruit for us this time of year. So a year's worth of good stuff is mostly my goal. Because strawberries in December just isn't very yummy or local, that kind of thing.
I've also spent many a night up until 2-3am getting canner loads done because of my "help." I've also gotten better about stages with canning... like chop/prep one day, keep going the next day, simmer or cook the next day, then can. My extra fridge in the garage has more than paid for itself I believe.
Jessica ~ A gal on this forum or elsewhere? I know a gal via blogs that has 4 children, they live in MO, and had 2 dairy cows but their 3rd child just can't tolerate milk in any form right now so they've sold the milking cows and have a calf for later if they decide to do milk for some of the family later on. I think. I just know she's thrilled about her two 260lb pigs right now... Ooh, an acre and a half, nice!
Bonne ~ I know! I grew up with my grandma canning. So when you had empties and were visiting her, you took them back, clean as a whistle. It wasn't until a few years ago that I realized people didn't normally do that! So now I gently tell people that I would like the jars back unless they plan to use them to can. And I tell them that honestly, the better they are at returning jars, the more likely they are to get more homemade goodies.

"while you are having a nice cold winter, it is 48* C here today. A new all time record. Never been that hot here ever before" Weather report from my friend in Australia. 118F is hot unless you're in the low desert like Monica. We had snow last night, though it's melting now. yes, the mini's will be just fine, whenever they get done.

I'm cleaning off the dining room table, looks like that's where the Bernina will have to be for me to get these done. Grandson is going to run away and join the circus...not really, he's going to travel with his uncle, my son, on the SuperCross motorcycle circuit, so won't be around to move heavy stuff for me. I need to buy him Carhartts, boots and a sleeping bag and put him on a plane probably Tuesday. Better than where he's been, in a house with no heat, very little to eat and no jobs to be had. That's why he's here now. |

Bonne! LOL Rick is English and Irish...very quiet so makes me wonder what he is thinking but won't say outloud.
Who said I didn't want an eventful life? lol I know right now Danny boy gives me plenty of excitement! We think Danny boy is Polish...but I think sometimes he looks Irish...green eyes... Tell me more about men....I am afraid to trust them after my divorce! I guess anything is possible.

Bonne, the half Native American I was married to (#3) didn't adhere to that code of ethics at all. And watch out when he was "on the warpath", cause anything and everything in his way would be destroyed. ON the other hand, he could be the most caring of my spouses and we were very good friends for a long time. Linda, not enough room on the Internet or hours in a year to tell you all about men. Weigh it out and decide whether you're better off with or without the person. We all have our idiosyncrasies, some just hidden more than others. |

I've lived with men enough that I should know...but they are all different in some ways...I LOVE being alone...but I have an open mind for possibility. When Danny boy gets older he will go to a Residental Treatment Facility and I will be bored and lonely then. That could happen within a year...he almost went last summer. I'll miss having someone to take care of...and it would sure be nice to have a significant other to be there for me. Back to my cooking.

Find a man who works far away and is only home part of the time...best of both worlds for me. When Larry asked if I would be okay alone or he needed to get a job locally, I told him to keep the job in Alaska. Some women can't function alone, mother and sister included. I like my time alone. |

Linda, go with your "gut" feelings. If it's meant to be it will be an easy transition. Let destiny lead you~you shouldn't have to "try hard"~go with the flow. Of course I had to get married 3 times to figger that out! lol

how is everyone this weekend? I still have my minis on the dining room table and hope to mail them on Monday. I slept most of the afternoon again!! Another Saturday sleeping my life away. I am feeling a lot better though, so it must be something I needed. Tonight I will work on one of my quilting projects for a little while before watching tv. Most of the house is pretty clean now, so just a little more and it will be nice and clean again.
