Aww Karin- that car trouble just never ends!!! I'm sorry!

I guess I will try to talk myself into canning again- I did for years but lots of it wasted- mostly cause I was learning and the recipes were not tried and true!!!
Ronna! I got the starter- I need more info-is it already posted here?
I know I read the info before-anybody know what page?
I feel sooo honored!!!!!Really- thank you!!!!
Now I think I have to name it

Blessings,
Autumn

If I were her (Breyer gal) I would list them on Ebay. Breyers are VERY collectable.
She wants cast iron cookware? That's something I'd buy local~the shippng would be so high I'd think because of the wt.
Now I'm just thinking too practical~LOL!

Ruthie!! Got the vehicle warmed up yet? I'd be treadle-bound if I were you~don't look a gift horse in the mouth~time's a wasting~

Oh, and on the "artisan bread" recipe. I never added any additional yeast to it.

For canning or just cooking? Used you have to watch seals as they are not all replaceable. They are pricey new

I donated my surplus fabric already.

I'm clueless on pressure canners too, but I think pickyourown.org has links to supplies,http://www.canningpantry.com/canning-equipment.html plus there's always Lehman's ~see what kind they carry.

http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_constraint=0&ic=48_0&search_query=pressure+canner&Find.x=0&Find.y=0&Find=Find Walmarts are available only online, but the canning pantry has the Presto ones for a bit less. http://www.canningpantry.com/presto-pressure-canners.html
Too bad we aren't all neighbors and could share equipment~we could buy a fancy schmancy one between us.

Jess, how big of a pressure canner do you want/need? I saw a good one at Tuesday Morning recently and thought it sure would be ideal for someone doing a lot of canning. Price was good too. I'll check when I go into Reno if it's still there. Probably not a hot item this time of year, especially at that store where the yuppies shop for their crystal and china. I have my MIL's, but it's likely 65 years old and probably could not trust the gauge..but it's a heavy pot anyway.
Autumn, Jess and Bonne will help you with tips on the sourdough too...once you get a decent amount built up for whatever your needs, in can sit in the fridge without being fed unless you want to bring it out and feed it. Honest, it thrives on neglect. I can leave it for a year, pull it out and feed and within an hour or less, it's bubbly and ready to use again.

Tuesday Morning~will have to ck that out. There's one close to me, but never been there. There's still time to get all
this stuff together before hard core canning will need to be done. **rubbing hands together in anticipation**

Looked to me like something that had been on QVC or HSN, a package deal with the canner and some other supplies. I'm thinking it was Fagor brand, which has good reputation for pressure cookers. If one or more came to Reno, then they went to the other locations too. Don't know if you can check it out from their website or not...but I'm sure you've already done that Bonne and will be reporting on what you find. Our very own "Information Please" lady!

My friend Marilyn posted a new update on her blog today.
Please go read her account of this dreaded illness- http://my7sparrows.blogspot.com/

Thanks to all of you who visited and encouraged her too start blogging again!
I spent the afternoon with her-took her to the doctor-and I had a great time. I'm sooo glad she allowed me to help!

Blessings,

The saddiest thing today I saw 2 baby deer that were with thier mom yesterday were alone today. I feel bad cause they likely won't make it. They had obviously lost her. I am such a softie when it comes to animals.
