I think everyone should learn about the goings-on in the land of their ancestors~the indigenous beliefs and ways of life.
It's in our DNA!

Autumn, I got the bestest package from your today!! So much cuteness and creativity!! Thanks a bunch~(((BIG HUGS)))

Well, my mom passed today. She was almost 93 and in a nursing home, so a blessed release to go back "home".

YIPEE!!!!!!! RONNA'S STARTER ARRIVED TODAY!!!!!!Maybe now I will have luck with sourdough bread! The last time I tried it didn't work at all!

Okay, I have learned a rather painful lesson on why you should not put off until tomorrow what you could do today! I had found out that a sheep company from Flagstaff bring their sheep to the next town over every winter and in early February they shear them! I was hoping to be able to find out where they were and see if I could help and get some fleece or buy some raw fleece! I was going to try to contact someone Monday and I got side tracked and didn't! So Wednesday in 3 phone calls I was talking to the owner, only to find out all of the fleece went out on trucks Tuesday and he even said he could have given me some fleece!
I could absolutely kick myself for not calling Monday! I also realized that sometimes there is a price to pay for being disorganized!!

Bonne, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. It's so difficult as parents age - they aren't supposed to, they're always supposed to be there. I'm struggling with that now. Thank heaven my parents are still relatively healthy and active (81 & 79) but I still see them aging and I have a hard time with that. They live 3 hrs from me but I talk to them everyday and go in to see them at least 1 weekend a month. I know that someday I won't be able to...my MIL is in a nursing home (assisted living) and it's difficult as the quality of life deteriorates. Please know that you are in our thoughts.

My 7th graders love the Norse mythology!! We do a whole unit on it and then we watch some Danish cartoon versions of Thor and Loki! They love, love, love it.

Well, the spaghetti dinner is over! We had a pretty good turnout, so the 8th graders made some money for their trip. Next mission, to get the play ready by end of March. That will be easy though. The kids are awesome and work hard at the play.

How are you all doing today?

Thanks everyone. I pretty much said my goodbyes in 2002 when she moved back to MN. Her dementia was really starting to manifest then and
she didn't even recognize people or have the ability to speak sensibly for the past 6 yrs. It wouldn't be so bad to live that long if you were
enjoying life, but if your mind is gone (or your body) I really don't see where the quality of life is. My neighbor is 90 and she is healthy, lives in her own home and joins in our weekly stitch 'n bi#ch meetings~hope I'm that sharp at her age.

Monica, make sure you arrange to get the fleeces next year from this guy!!!

Well, I did it. I went on Craigslist last night and saw a gal wanting free/cheap fabric. I emailed her and she's going to come pick up a huge trashbag full that I cleared out. Feel lighter already!!

Bonnie, I am so sorry about your mom. Your mom lived a long life. When I visited my mother the other day, she kept telling me that she is looking forward to going home (heaven). She told me that if the time does come, not to cry but to be happy for her. My mom is going through a lot of suffering with her hip and back, etc.

Bonne, Sorry to hear about your mother. It is so hard when our parents get old and infirm, and I understand what you mean about saying your goodbyes years ago.

Aren't you good to unload some fabric, I'm going to feel guilty about sending you a few tiny bits of cowboy fabric, but it is only enough to maybe make your kitty a quilt and feel free to pass it along if you find it useless.

Oh, Karin, I'll bet I'll love the cowboy fabric. The stuff I'm getting rid of just doesn't interest me anymore and I'm tired of looking at it and wondering what to do with it. I told my sister my plan and she said she did the same thing last year and felt so liberated afterwards! lol
I won't part with my fleece, cat or Halloween fabrics, but most else was up for grabs. ;)

Heard on the news that one company that's doing well despite the economic crunch is Walmart. Red and I went
to a big Walmart up in the mtns today and found these medium wt. winter jackets in the men's dept for $5!
How can you go wrong at $5! I got one in blue and one in brown. Then Red found some lt weight hoodies and pullovers
marked down to $5 too~in his 3X size! No wonder people keep shopping there when times are hard & $$ tight.

Oh, and found a team to pull my wagon. Not oxen, but zebras~sometimes you have to adapt to what's available. lol

Cute cute, forgot to tell you cool wagon, you need a couple farm girls to go with it too.

Red is not camera shy any more.

Good deals on coats Wally world is open way after other stores close, and on Sun. and xmas 24-7 that is why they are not suffering any. Plus some tech stuff kids want is always cheaper there so people buy there. (one womans opinion)
