Good morning!!!
Working on school. So glad my minis are done. I have about ten packages I have to get ready to go out today.
Jess~I'm sending out the books today. It will be media mail. Probably take the same amount of time as the hats. LOL
Not much planned for today. It is so cold. Oh, yes my son has his gym class. Then off to buy yarn to make another owl hat for Bev.
Bonne~I love that little wagon.
Monica~Great find with the postal scale. Congratulations on 1000 posts. Ruth

Mostly his name was "trouble" growing up. Poor wagon is in dry dock. There's an oxen shortage in Denver so looks like we'll be wintering it out here and maybe be able to cross the Rockies come Spring~hear tell of a team of oxen being driven out of Indiana, but it may just be rumor.

Bonne, that wagon is so terrific! I could send you a couple cats and you could maybe rig up some oxen costumes, nah, they're too big, and they don't travel well. When I was a kid and went to ranch boarding school in Arizona we used to occasionally be dragged to the Arizona State Museum in Tucson, and my most favorite thing there was an old covered cook's wagon. I wanted to be a cowboy, or at least a cowgirl cook, then we moved back east. It was just such a rush of feeling I had when I spied that wagon. And the sewing instruction booklet stuff, what wonders. Thank you Bonne, for sharing the treasure....
I have not heard from my insurance man this morning. He assured me he would be calling by eight thirty today, we're closing in on noon here, I guess he talked to the morons at the auto body shop and now they are concocting a little tale to tell the old lady.
So I've got to go start some bread dough and then i'll come back to my computer and mosey around....

Karin, you could call me "Freya" if I had 2 cats pulling my chariot. A bit of Norse history, "Bygul and Trjegul" were the cat's names~meaning "bee-gold" or honey, and "tree-gold" or amber.

Bonne, can't you felt and shape some oxen for your cart? When Larry was a kid, he assembled a 20 mule team Borax wagon train. It sat on top of the window frame in the boys bedroom until his mother died in '95. He brought it home, disassembled and rebuilt it. I'd found one still in the box about 10 years before and he used some of those parts for it. It's now on a oak base with plexiglass case he built for it and very cool memory. One of the very few things from his childhood he wanted. I'll assume the train set is still in the rafters of the storage shed unless his "everything is mine" brother has disposed of it. Knowing how mean and vindictive he is, it might have been shot or stomped to pieces. He borrowed a fridge and when it was needed back, he set it out at the edge of the property with the cord cut right at the motor. Geez, some people never grow up. Much more to that story-he was very unhappy when Larry came back into my life and we remarried. Told my then husband that Larry had taken me away from him again. Huh? We were like brother and sister, I was never "his". Strange man and I saw a side of him I'd never known. And that's how I get sidetracked into parts of my life that need to be in writing. Son emailed last night something about Nudie, the western tailor to the stars, all the flashy cowboy suits and such. I don't know if he knew of my encounter with that dirty old man. Probably not, but he will. |

Bonne~I love your little story about your wagon being in need of oxen. Maybe some will come to you soon.
Karin~I can't believe the run around that insurance company and auto shop are giving you. The local news here does special reports where consumers can complain and they investigate the problem for them. If you have anything like that in your area I would give them a call. This is getting ridiculous.
Sharon~how cool.
Ronna~Crazy how some people act.
Just back from my son's gym class. Finishing up owl hats that I need to mail. I also have a little something I'm working on to do a giveaway on my blog.
Chat with you all later.

I am so wiped out though after the full hectic day yesterday, and today, plus inadequate amount of sleep. I tried to take a nap today, but when ever I try to rest, something prevents me from doing so (mostly oldest son). We have to there about an hour before the movie begins. We haven't done this in a long time, because there was always something going on that conflicted with the movie. At least I can sleep in tomorrow (hopefully).

Autumn ~ I think you forgot "mythbuster" in your son's description... seems like he'd have a hoot working with those guys. And wow, his cake decorating skills certainly surpass mine. How do you like the Rosetta Stone stuff? It's a few years ahead of our time, but it doesn't hurt to know what's out there...
Send me sewing vibes for tonight if you feel the urge. Hubby's been out of town, so I've been busy here. Really need to finish up this project for a friend who's 30 weeks along and get that in the mail asap.

Lanna- youre right- I forgot Adam Savage- he's a clown and has NO FEAR- also makes fun of serious minded folks just like Adam!!!!
We LOVE Rosetta Stone- I dont what ages your kids are but this would work great even for upper elementary and beyond. It's a great program! We've tried LOTS of others and never learned much or stayed with them.
I made the cutest wall hanging today-Ill try to post on my blog in a bit. Sew Lanna sew!!!

Thanks Ronna- sometimes I think my ideas are dumb but I still have to try them. I don't pretend to be a real artist but sometimes I stumble onto a great idea and I love when it works-this one did-so far anyway
Everybody busy sewing????

Teresa, I know on days like this you must feel like with three steps forward that you make two steps backwards and that leaves you wondering just what you really accomplished! You'll get it together...Mr. Caleb just has to keep you adjusted to walking backwards..LOL
Sheryl, I hope you are well by now....with all you have going on these days you don't have time for that mess!
I'm off to work on mini's (I think) I go full blast then get distracted....

Tina, it was fun. We met some people, and enjoyed the movie. The movie when it is in the preview stage is rough and in the raw. They are still working on fine tuning the movie, from making sure there are no blue screens visible to changing the music. Hilary Swank plays Ameilia Earhart. Richard Gere played her promoter and later her husband.
Dh forgot about the movie, so we left later than we should. We need to be there by 6:45, but then the line is extremely long. Since we were towards the back of the line we were in the second row from the front.
They had three movie posters and wanted everyone's opinion on which poster we liked the best. After the movie, we were asked again about the movie poster to see if the movie poster choice was the same or different. I liked the one we chose because it was artistic.
Before the movie began, there was this older man sitting in the front row. The person either from the theater or from the movie industry asked him to move over, so that there would be two empty seats next to each other. The man refused, because he was where he could see the movie the best. Later, the same asked the man in the front row to get up and to follow him outside. The employee would not leave until the man followed him. Turns out that the man in the front seat was possibly a homeless man who wanted to see a free movie. Everyone who is invited is given a code. Evidently, this man overheard the code and somehow bypassed the system. He was to have proof in the form of an invitation, but then there are those individuals who forgot to bring the invitation with them to the theater.

Bonne, I had completely forgotten about Freya, the kids and I used to read the Norse myths when they were small. I love all the old myths and fairy stories. My tiny mother (she was Danish) used to scare the daylights out of me and my brother reading us all those lovely creepy Hans Christian Andersen stories....And, thanks to your suggestion of letting the bread rise in the warm oven, i got two perfect whole wheat loaves of bread last night!
I had a little chat with my insurance man yesterday afternoon, and he said he would be going over the work orders and whatever with his boss, I am feeling like I should make myself a battle apron, just in case I need it...I'm pretty sure the insurance company thinks of me as some old battle axe by now....
It is brutally cold again, and since there is no basement under my kitchen it is about 30 degrees colder than the rest of the house, which isn't any too warm. Didn't sleep very well last night, so i got up and sewed another nineteen polkadot minis, still have four waistbands to go on the others, and I guess I'll bum a ride to the post office Monday so i can get a few things in the mail, and get my mail.
Okay, enough of this drivel, time for more coffee and a fistful of meds. I keep forgetting how old and wretched I am until I start to move around when the fibro is at full tilt...
Ruth, email me your address, i've got a quilt book I'd like to send you, hot from the thrift store. It is by a person whose books I love, and has lots of basic quiltmaking tips and lots of nice pictures. Pictures are always a good idea. It was you who wanted quilt making info, wasn't it?

Hi, girls! Sorry it's been so long since I have popped by. I'll just do a blanket wish list for you all, okay? I hope that everyone is: warm, safe, with water, healthy, not snowed-in, if you are snowed-in- that you have food and power, and warm blankets, creating, enduring and better than I am about keeping up here. I am in the process of creating a blog for a friend of mine, that I will write, for her quilt shop. It's a lot of fun. I've been taking pictures, asking tons of ??? I feel like Karin Smith, Ace Reporter. hahahahahaha Anyway, let me not get too carried away. lol As soon as I get another little post up, I'll let you know and you can tell me what you think. I value your opinions, good and bad. :) Really, I do hope you are all doing okay.

Well put, Bonne. I guess it was all those nights of going to bed as a kid and saying to myself "it's just a story, just a story." My kids are far more fearless than I ever was, they loved all the Scandinavian stuff, no matter how grisly...
