Naomi, you're a good daughter! watching tv with dad is a "good thing"...
Ok, this one is for Elizabeth (botanicalbath)....I know you are in the "suds" right now with the soapmaking but you'll be checking back in maybe on Monday....We have til Saturday, September 29 to decide on a chapter name... I really loved your name suggestion!

Hey Tina,
Good suggestion! And to Naomi's question about the name going to a vote...it will after Saturday, Sept. 29...that's why everyone needs to brainstorm and makes suggestions and "post your suggestion"...the Chapter is growing by the day it seems

I love the apron fabric that has been discussed for the aprons. And like the old bee image.... I was thinking that the name... "Bobbin Bees" sounded cute too. "Bobbin Bees without Borders"

I like iBees Cyber Stitchers ! But I also like Stitching Bees without Borders. Cyber actually means what we are thinking of when we say borders.
Nay: you are soo funny, I missed ya the last few days...I may not blab alot but I read every word this forum writes/says!
Also, I wanted to say that I thought we were going to have a Bee with apron on and a treadle machine...I think someone could draw that, don't ya? Instead of a simple insect...a bee in an apron...I don't think it's corny.

Hey Ladies, is it too late to join? I have been looking for a chapter, and there is none in my area, or enough interest for a new one. |

Hmmm.....what about iBees.....Stitchers Without Borders Cyber is good, but we really do stitch, not just cyber stitch. The i in the iBees, rather designates that we are an online group.
Here is what I have been stitching on today.....it is finished. It is difficult to see details on black...sorry.
And a side view:
This one is going in the shop. It will be retailing somewhere between $100 and $200. It is really gorgeous!!! My prices are still far below online shops and my quality is as good as or better than what I have seen online and in shops.
I have a black panne velvet, black satin reversible to a harvest colors celtic knotwork cotton, red butter suede, and an opalescent purple/gold one in progress right now. My goal is at least 10 cloaks before the weekend, so that I can sell at a local faire this weekend!! It is not a Renfaire, but it is a Metaphysical faire!!
I'm making a silver one with a braided moonstoon studded lacing during the next full moon...it is a special order.
Well, later ya'll....got to get back to sewing.

I'd love to join if there's still room. I've been so busy this last month or so at work I haven't had a chance to keep up with all the e-mail. Sounds like fun!!

Wow, it took me a while to catch up to you all....finally back from the farm. Some notes along the way...
Autumn....I love the tatting and the clothespin bag...great job on that bias tape!
Sharon (Countynmore) thanks so much for the yummy Christmas fabric...it came today and I love it....although it seems like a rather extravagant thank you on your part....but I LOVE it. Thanks.
Alee......that was called Treadle Travesty....obviously we know something that the Brits don't. Welcome to the thread....we love old treadles, here!
George....that costume page was amazing....oh how I long to own some of them...but then where would I wear them? Imagine the looks we could get!
Bonne....I agree with you, when someone says the word alterations....I run screaming in the opposite direction!!!!
Stephanie....you have been working overtime....and I love your knack for detail......I also love your ideas!
Julia, BlueApple....I got your text message to my cell phone...but was out of range...sorry I could not answer back....e-mailed you instead. welcome....just jump right on in....we are a gabby bunch and sometimes is hard to get a word in edgewise....but don't worry, we hear ya!
Welcome to everyone else that has e-mailed me. I am so very excited about this response!!!!
I really LOVE>....the second line of our name as Stephanie presented it...Without Borders....(or as Sunshine put it and cracked me up "without Boarders")
My thoughts on this part of our name is this......
Borders represent areas of land that divide people. They can also be divisions that we place within our minds. Either way, borders tend to limit us and restrain us. What I have found here with you wonderful women is this....each of us has our strengths and our weaknesses. Together we celebrate our strengths and draw upon each other's. Our weaknesses we accept without judgement. It is a safe haven where we all feel acceptance.
So that is why "Without Borders" has more than one meaning for me. It also signifies that we ARE from anywhere and everywhere.
I do also think that our logo should include a treadle.....even a very light one behind the bee....but sewing brought us together, afterall.
One more thought....there are occasionally times when any one of us may answer a comment with something that seems curt or abrasive. I would ask us all to remember that it is difficult to express emotions in the written form sometimes. So.....if you read something that makes you feel sensitive....take for granted that there will never be malice intended in any replies. Understand that perhaps you just may not be perceiving the post how it was intended. Let's all try hard to express ourselves honestly and kindly knowing that we are all good women with kind hearts.....there is too much unkindness in our world.....this will be our safe haven.
Sorry, I ramble, but this is important for me to express. You have all become so very important to me. I think this is going to be great.
Now, one last idea. I thought it would be a great idea if we could start a group blog. We would all have the password and be able to post and read each other's entries....more room to really talk about what is important to each of us without using so much room on this thread. What do you think?

The suggestion for the treadle is great! We can use a treadle or machine and either have the machine or bee a bit more transparent than the other so they are layered..can do it both ways and play with it..oh...and I think someone mentioned putting a teapot on the treadle...Jess, I think??
If someone will email me some good quality machine or treadle graphics I'd be happy to play with it. I'm no expert by any means but love the creative process.
I think..I may be wrong now..but Elizabeth may have a graphic design imput on helping in this area.. oops, if I just named the wrong person!
Bev, thanks for clarifying what a safe haven the chapter will be. It's a warm feeling to know that it will be protected.
The "Without Borders" really does probably have a personal meaning to each of us and yet it bonds us together...so yes, it's a good thing
I think the Chapter Blog is a super idea...otherwise, we need to start a new membership in the forum for our chapter then it's going to really eat up Mary Jane's hosting bandwidth every month with the amount of graphics, text and photos that will be flying through cyberspace!! So So exciting...we'll all be able to post and share "without borders"!
Long winded as usual...
Stephanie

Love the cloaks and even the unseen ones, just by the descriptions, Georgann. This is the perfect time of year to catch the Halloween buyers, but Pagans use them year 'round! I've made several in cottons for warmer weather. Good Luck with the cloaks in your store!! ;)

If we do a blog, you gals will have to teach me what in the world I am doing? I am just proud of myself for being able to post a few pictures. I love without borders because it has so many meanings and in truth makes each of us strech out of our comfort zones. Bonne---- girl you make me laugh. I was famous for the brown bag dresses. In junior high I made one jumper. I attempted another dress, which I couldn't figure out so it went in a brown paper bag into the closet never again to see the light of day. Sewing wasn't something I was ever good at, so it was quite intimadating when 7 years ago, I started to quilt. I love it and now you girls have me making aprons. Who would have every thought. It makes me laugh. My mom and my sister were whizzes at sewing. What is grand is that I got to teach my mom in a quilting class that I drove over and taught for her and my sister and some friends a few years ago. I had so much fun. You gals make me smile, on a day when pain seems like it is winning, it is a comfort to come here and read. Thanks, I truly appreciate it. Carol Sue
Enjoying life. |

I want to join, too! With two small children, I don't have time in the real world to get together with many people to start a chapter, but I do have time at night after the kids go to bed! This is the perfect chapter for me! I'm glad you started a new thread, I was too imtimidated by the number of pages on the old one to read much of it! I love that Clover Bee fabric! |

Is it too late to join your group? I work 3rd shift and homeschool my son, so I really don't have time for a real group either. I have been reading the other thread (until it got so long... couldn't keep up) you are all so talented. you have really inspired me to start sewing again. totally love all the pictures and the fabric. Thanks for listening, cheryl |
