Steph; no...Have only used the overcast stitch on my serger that it was set on...I havent tried anything else yet...I threaded one thread on it so far...and one other I was running out of thread, so I just knotted my new thread to the old thread and pulled it through...easy as pie...took me two tries to thread the one thread by my self though....diagram and all...haha....

hey gals..
Kathie, love the new aprons.
Thanks gals on the compliment about that bathroom re-do.
I finally finished it totally last night.
Caulking and all.
Nay did help a little with asome of the cutting in along the ceiling. We had to work without a ladeder cause the ladder wouldn't fit in the room, and yeah..I'm cheap..wasn't gonna go buy a new ladder just for doing that room..ha.
Anyhow glad that task is done.
O.k. about quilts..I was given a grandma's garden quilt top piece by my mom who was given it by a really elderly woman in South Florida. It is just the top part...not completed and in an odd shape..it's about half the size of a twin bed. Made out of flour sack fabrics, very old.
I'll be using it in the new house as a display. I used it once here and very, very lightly pinned a few antique photos to it and an old piece of sheet music called "Calico Rag"(like this/but mine is in red I believe it is/haven't taken it out in a while though but I think mine is red http://www.allposters.com/-sp/Calico-Rag-Posters_i2116294_.htm ) It made the cutest display..loved it.
Need to do something fun like that again.
Oh and Jess..yes..I can't wait to decorate a new place too.
I have SO got my eyes on so many cute red and yellow retro looking things it isn't even funny..ha.
So, I'm in a clean out phase here with the hopes that I can have a huge garage sale, and tuck a little moolah back to be able to then get some fun things to decorate the new place with.
I'll be using lots of sunny yellow, bright red and turqouse/robin's egg blue, oh..and my little girl's room..I want to do in a flamingo pink with an apple green trim.
Yeah..I know..wild colors. But gosh..I have had booooorrring colors for so long...that I'm more than ready for a change.
hmm..might be something to do with turning 40 this year?

What? there was a typo?!! I look at mine sometimes and thing good grief woman you can't spell anymore. I think my mind just stays too many steps ahead of my fingers.

Color is wonderful. I love jewel tones. I try to do pastels..really like them but they always get overshadowed because I wind up putting in the deep jewels I think that must connect to my nighttime state of mind.

and did I mention that Nay wants her room to be a bright turquoise with red accents? yeah..cool huh?
I'm gonna have to think about what I want to do with all the toile fabric from my stash.
I have a screen that has little window openings on it..a 3 panel screen/room divider thing....and it has a thin paper type backing on it..I am debating about removing all the paper stuff and painting the screen and then stapling the toile fabric to it then edging it with gimp on the backside(side that would have solid toile (it would be a double layer of toile..one side with the "picture window" look the other side with just the fabric panels.
And then using that in my own "private/creative space"
So...Would you do it or not?? Everytime I mention it Nay kind of cringes..as if its a bad idea.So..I don't know what to do with it. Right now it is a light wood color with white paper.
Like this:(but with a light oak color)

Oh yeah, that would be neat Tina..it would look kind of like a shadow box effect on one side..Hey, you don't know for sure til you try it is how I look at things.

A couple that has known Thomas for a long time asked Thomas and I when we bought the mountain house...what we would do if it turned out the area wasn't where we wanted to be? Thomas simply said, "We'll sell the house and move"..seemed pretty simply to us but to them it was mindblowing..LOL

So do your own thing and see what happens! You will have a blast decorating the new place. There's something liberating about entering new spaces and being able to try things you've dreamed of.

I love jewel tones..I am trying to only use brights this time around...my kids rooms are faily traditional though, they prefer it that way. Really they only sleep in their rooms, so that is ok...relaxing colors to fall asleep to. I love to try new things...always changing stuff around. try it Tina..what have you got to lose? YOu only live once. When we bought this house, people could not understand...just buy a house in a subdivision...you have enough on your plate with the kids...get something new, so you dont have to make any repairs...houses are $ pits. Why do you want a big yard....just more to mow..and on and on they went...mostly my husbands family. As if we wanted any of that...we bought our house and love our $ pit. So go for it Tina..bright colors, funk it up, and try the screen idea...you have nothing to lose...if u hate it...redo it.

Oh and Steph...I have a sewing room, On the wall I have hung a 12 foot closet rod, might be 14 feet, but I am pretty sure 12. I strarted hanging all my larger pieces. Under it I have 55 gallon tubs all full of fabric, and on top of each of those I have 3 plastic totes each..full of smaller fabrics. I have a wide shelf for my bulky fleeces, upholstery fabrics and velvets and what not. Then there is the ever grow scrap bin under my desk...It may take over the world one day. I also have 2 small cardboard boxes of fabric...somewhere...cannot figure out where I stuck em.

Kathie..love those aprons. Paisley talks to me, though I usually don't care too much for prints. The yoyo/crazy one is sooo cute.
Jess, was wondering how you came up with 3000 yds for your fabric. No way could I count mine, since much is 99 cent silk garments, party/prom dresses and such. Not that much straight yardage. My goal is to seperate the silks by colors someday. I've been cutting out any shoulder pads to make less bulk with storage. Bet I have about every color of the rainbow. Someday, they will go into a log cabin quilt. A fair amount of animal prints, which I want to use for a kitty quilt for my cat loving daughter.
Glad I'm not the only one who is computer/photo posting challenged. But, I'm old and don't have as many extra brain cells as you youngsters. Good thing I didn't fry the extras with drugs in my wild and crazy days, I'd be in big trouble now!
Jess, that yoyo is so pretty and not bad price unless it gets crazy at the end. Midlothion...isn't that where Aunt George lives/lived? Suppose it's hers? I won't big against you, so try for it. The last one I bought online has those soft feedsack prints. I have one from the thrift shop in lavender and yellow in a cool design. Geez, if I can get a blog going, I could just post photos of the crazillion quilts.
Kathy, your former guest room sounds a lot like mine. I must have 20 or more quilts in there, but now can't display them on the bed with the chocolate Lab thinking it's her bed. She hasn't bothered the ones folded at the side of the bed, so far. She has chewed a few of my Boyd's Bears, hopefully she's over that now. When I told her NO, bad dog, she ran off fast, so must have been riprimanded in her past life. She knew it was wrong. One of my Harley dressed big Boyd's is minus a paw, thanks to her. I'll just say he was in a bike wreck :)
Love all the decorating ideas you ladies have, so much fun.
I'll have to take a photo of the sailor fabric, so you can all see how cute it is. Don't know if Carol Sue will need to use all of it, so it might show up in some mini aprons or such one day. It says 8 yds, but will check when I take it off the cardboard for shipping.
I got two ziploc bags of quilt triangles and strips from a lady on Etsy yesterday. One of the templates has a 1943 date on it. yeah, another project for me to do someday.
I have a box full of wild 70's print quilt blocks, paper pieced, that one of you might like to have. When I get to them, I'll take photos of them too. Think I know where they are, but not where I can get my hands on them yet. Another of my finds about 10 years ago that I know I won't do anything with. So much stuff, so little energy!

Jess.. I was trying to get it teentzy enough to fit.. & I was going for a little flower shape.. shorter then my regular ones.. & only THREE panels! I left off the 'V' Inserts on this one.. & I like the way it scoops up a bit.. sort of Pixie-ish! Besides.. The 'V's would probably have been black.. & that was going so far from Spring I opted not to..
Hope this one fits!
So.. we'll see!

Glad you like the Group One!

The Paisley side turned out so pretty.. last minute thought on that side.. so it's funny how they can just suddenly turn into a great Apron out of the blue sort of as a filler!
I Really love Paisley too Ronna!

I've had Henna done on me before & I always want at least one or two Paisley looking designs.
Once right before I was offered the Job I'm in right now I had NO idea it was even going to be available to me.. I had JUST had it done.. & My now current boss called me in for a inpromto interview.. Out of the blue.. so i was not even prepaired.. No long sleeves! & i Had JUSt that weekend had it done to BOTH palms & the underside of both arms..
Luckily We already knew each other.. & he said.. "I didn't know you had Tattoos!"
I said I didn't.. & had to explain what it was & that it was only temporary..!
(We aren't allowed to have a Visible Tattoo at my job..)
So weird.. No one from the Public even sees us.. Ever..
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.. I love the Smell of Henna.. Makes me want to get one again now!

Ronna.. maybe you need to fashion up a little sling for your Bear to go along with his 'accident' story..!

Jess, I would love to see pictures of your sewing room. Dh wants me to come up with ideas for a sewing room. Some year, we want to add on to the house. On the side of the house (the side with our bedroom), is where the sewing room, laundry room, etc. will go.

Good idea Kathie, poor guy lost his paw to another brown furry animal, the silly Lab. She hasn't done it for a couple weeks now, so I do hope I'm not jinxing it by mentioning. She was a rescue and now knows she's part of the family and gets lots of love. Demands it, never thought the rat terrier would allow another dog to be Alpa, but it's happening. My yellow Lab chewed up a few bears too, must me a Lab thing. I don't make a huge deal over it, hoping they've not done it for attention. And have hundreds, so it's not like the end of the world.
I have a small iris tattoo on my ankle, which never sees the light of day in public anyway. Larry got quite a few after he bought the Harley, some really cool ones. And he took our daughter to get her first, an angel on her shoulder. My dad had a topless cowgirl across his chest, which fascinated me as a child. Wish someone had taken a photo of it while he was alive. I've never tried the Henna ones. Would like a steam train around my other ankle, with a caboose too. Both my dad and FIL were railroad engineers. Daughter and I talked about getting it done, might still happen someday.

Kathie! Holy Moly! Those aprons are fantastic, and they're completed, I am very impressed, of course the most yaha one is my favorite, but it is beauty all across the board with those little items.
geez I'm going to feel guilty all day, don't know when I last made a people sized apron. I found myself cutting out material for quilt squares today, like I haven't already got several billion unfinished things flung about the general area of my sewing room. Having accomplished very little this morning I will now attempt loading a few button pictures...Karin

Jess, I can see why you are keeping an eye on that yo yo top, it is really sweet. I made the mistake of cruising ebay this weekend to take download picture of things I like that I hope someday to make, and I was looking at vintage potholders, and I got serious eBay fever, so I quit looking.Went to the greenhouse instead.....needed some color I guess...Karin I tried uploading my buttons on this thread, but I couldn'[t figure it out so I started a new thread and managed to get THREE pictures uploaded, I feel wicked smart now

Jess, when I had my first studio and little biz going for the memory quiltmaking I had the small plumbing pipe run around everywhere and most everything was hanging so folks could shop easily. I loved it that way. For the past 2 years it's been in closets and under the cutting table. So now I'm seeing stuff that I forgot I even had. At the next location I'm hoping to buy one of those nice lapboard storage rooms and wire, insulate and climate control it so I have a seperate space for what I'm keeping.

oh silly me, went back to look and realize the paisley is a reversible with the yoyo/rikrack/crazy apron.
I don't see Karin's buttons, on her blog or the posting...what am I doing wrong.
Just had a call from my son in Utah. He's finally realizing, after 4 1/2 years, that his fiance has been using him for a meal/vehicle/school/etc ticket and giving nothing back to the relationship. Hate for him to go through hell again, but the sooner he cuts the ties, the better for him. To top it off, she's dropped a very sick pit bull in his lap. Had surgery for eating a tennis ball and having major intestinal problems now. He doesn't know what Vet she was at and can't make contact with the supposed owner of the dog. Not fair to the dog or to him. No pit bull rescue he can find in the Salt Lake area and he doesn't have money for another dog, especially a sick one. He already has two pit bulls and her cat. He's been paying for her to have an apt near the beauty school to make it easier for her during the week too. Man, she has no clue how good she's had it and all she does is [bleep] at him for everything. When our kids hurt, we do too!
