aww..I am so happy that we are together for a year on this thread. Even though I don't get to talk on here much during the week, I do check in while I am at work (can't post from there, the eyes in the big office are on our computer screens a lot!!) just to see what you are all doing. As the school year winds down, it gets a little crazy, but I do sew each night and read this thread.

I posted some pictures of my recent embroidery blocks on the blog today. Tomorrow I will post the ones I am making for my pastor. They are really gorgeous!!

OH MY, ALL THIS FABULOUS STUFF, WONDERFUL PANTS AND BEAUTIFUL BLOCKS.Whoops I keeep hitting the capital button by accident but I am too lazy and too fumble fingered to delete that stuff. My daughter's name is
Susannah, but we call her Zan for short. She never had a nickname growing up and was getting really tired of people singing "Oh, Susannah" when I thought Zan would be an ok name. She has a very silly site on etsy :http://zanime.etsy.com Have a look sometime.
I have to get outside and take some pictures. My front garden is almost looking like a garden. Zan and I have been cramming things in right and left and the middle of the driveway. My diabolical plan is to cover everything with some kind of ground cover because I don't have a lawn mower and the "yard apes" as they call the kids who mow lawns around here, cost too much. And my yard is way too big.

But this weekend we've really started to mske some progress. I went over to a friend's house this afternoon to bring her something and came home with an old fashioned rose bush, several fabulous perennials for my garden and a plastic bag filled with goo. I think it is sour dough starter, I just try to follow the instructions when people give me stuff like that. We'll see. I have to squeeze the bag for five days, then add stuff, more squeezing for several day s and then some sort'
of Magical Baking.

I'm confused about listing the things we like to collect. Do we post it on this thread? Or is there a special one?
I've just had the best day planting. I'm going to go back outside and give all the plants an extra drink of water.

Karin

And Carol Sue, I LOVED YOUR story about the flaming fingernails, what a hoot! My daughter loves to paint her nails but I never paint anything but my left thumbnail. I usually have such dirty fingernails this time of year I don't even do that....Karin

Bonne, the pants are groovy!! very pop artish. Get you some lime at the garden center or co-op and drop a scoop on the dog poop..it'll kill the smell and it'll dry it up to nothing..your neighbor may wonder why the ground is white and the dog's paws may split if he walks in it but you won't have to smell it anymore..LOL

Jessica, No one bought my Day of the Dead/Guadaloopy quilt, the listing just ran out. i don't know whether I should post it again or try my luck in the very spoofy quilt shop in the next town over, where I sold a lot of pincushions, pillows and a few wall hangings. Business there is usually better at the end of summer, lots of people come to Maine to see the leaves, and they love walking around Belfast and looking in all the stores. Ho hum.
Zan and i just got all the garbage down to the end of the driveway for the early morning pick up. I 've just been moving rocks around trying to make a little path to the side of my house, boy do I feel ancient! But good! visual results are always so rewarding.I think it is going to rain in a few minutes, the air is heavy and wet, but not so cold.

I'm going to go do a crossword for a little bit and then it'll be time to do the kitty litter boxes, I lead such an exciting life.....Karin Thanks for checking out Susannah's stuff, she showed me how to put her site in my links, no wonder she calls me the electric dunce. I love her stuff, some of it is really goofy, but she just captures things.

Jessica, you amaze me at how you get things done so quickly. You don't seem to let project sit around for a long time.

Thanks ladies.

Unless you see my collection of quilt tops, Sharon. I like to get my projects over and done with, or they get lost in the shuffle.

I know what you mean Jessica. Dh starts projects but something always prevents him from getting the project done. I still have to work on the quilt. I was informed that my mil will be here next month for a couple of weeks. I usually find out about things much later, so it is nice that although he did wait, that he didn't wait until a week before.

Gals, this was posted on another forum that I belong to:

This was taken word for word from the 1949 Singer Sewing Machine Manual:

“Prepare yourself mentally for sewing. Think about what you are going to do. Never approach sewing with a sigh or lackadaisically. Good results are difficult when indifference predominates. Never try to sew with a sink full of dirty dishes or beds unmade. When there are urgent housekeeping chores, do these first so that your mind is free to enjoy your sewing. When you sew, make yourself as attractive as possible. Put on a clean dress. Keep a little bag full of French chalk near your sewing machine to dust your fingers at intervals. Have your hair in order, powder and lipstick on. If you are constantly
fearful that a visitor will drop in or your husband will come home
and you will not look neatly put together, you will not enjoy your sewing as you should.”
