Used dog (what my husband calls our rescues) just fine. Had tapeworm, $70 vet bill later they're gone or dead. Having been a stray, not telling what she ate while running loose. She had a "playdate" yesterday with my brother's lab and something very large mix..they run and wrestle and have a good time. His dog has extra toes on his back feet, so they are really huge.

Finally a day to sew....raining here in PA...perfect cold wet weather for staying inside and catching up on the sewing. I am trying to finish my daughter's quilt top....just another foot to go on the last panel. YAY!!! Then off to the quilt frame to start to quilt it.

LOL! We need the occasional rainy days to keep us inside to finish up those projects. that's what we're expecting tomorrow~rain mixed with.....snow. SNOW! That means I won't be planting tomatoes or peppers yet. 8-12 inches expected in the mountains. I think they're still skiing up there.

SNOW!!!! ICK!!!!
I just moved all my rabbits to their spring/summer/fall area. I cleaned up the winter area, getting ready to have John haul some rocks to line a new bed I decided we needed today. My sister came over and helped me spread a bunch of dirt in one of my new beds. I marked off an area that needs to be edged in rock...I wonder if I have enough rocks....I may be running out soon. Darn..it has been really fun. All I need to do next is get the veggies in their area, then it is on to mulch mulch and more mulch...I can use mulch for weeks and always think I need more!

It was rainy here today too. But...since I had to go to work all day, I only got to sew late in the afternoon. I got my mystery quilt (it was Italy that time) blocks all made. I'll try to put it together before the weekend because on Saturday my mystery quilt class meets again for Holland this time!! I picked blue and white as my colors for that one.
Ronna: so glad to see your second-hand pup is doing fine!!

yes those beds are so addicting....JOhn hauled some rock fo rme last night...he is not quite as fast as I am..but it works...he had to do it with a hand truck because on the first load the handles broke off my wheelbarrow....Ha! So one or 2 rocks at a time it was...so my childrens garden that is around the sandbox now has some rock border to it and is moving its way down the fence line to my rose/sunflower garden. Now if I can convince John to do it again tonight so we can make some more progress.
So I was really tired last night and was waiting for John to come in from his office, I was day dreaming of all the plants on sale 70% off at Spring Hill Nursery right now, so I went to their site and put together a list of what I would buy...at about the moment I was done, John walked in and saw what I was doing. YOu know, he reached in his pocket, pulled out his wallet, and bought it all for me...so now I have more things to plant...as soon as they all arrive! YAY!

WAGON'S Jess.. Use the Wagon's! Well now YOU! Miss Pregnat Girl.. but I use Wagon's around the yard.. So easy to just leave a few strewn about the yard for where ever i decide I need to do some work. there they are to assist! I have at least 3 that are up & mobile right now..& i Don't even have any little Kiddies of my own running around! Keep an eye out at yard sales for some.. & just keep dragging them in.. I tell ya Girls.. this is one of the best ideas I've found for myself.. I even use them for hauling my groceries in!
YEAH!! Planting time! we need pictures of new gardens don't we? I started a medicine wheel this time around.. But so far all I've manage to come up with are Kitchen herbs! I WANT Lavender! can't find it here! What's up with that??? ANYWAY.. we have a well.. & the water is SO awful it's staining my pretty plants rust colors.. AND all my gourgeous Rocks too !!!!! I keep changing the salt.. but it's useless.. I'm in search of a rain barrel now.. So fingers crossed for me Girls..!

SEEEEE! Every Once in a while Bonne!
& when they get to dangerously rusted out for me to use anymore.. then I retire them to a nice little spot some where & there they can just hole on to some pretty flowers now.. or strawberries look cute in em too! Any plants really.. even if you tip the wagon up on it's side a bit.. So fun!
I'm all about the junk yard decor!

Yep...killed the wheelbarrow...my rusted out radio flyer is now placed at the east end of my grape arbor, filled with marigold, dianthus, and petunias...my gardening wagon that I also use instead of a stroller lost it wheel at the end of last summer...so now..I am down to the handtruck and John has forbidden me to haul any rocks on my own, so I guess that is for the best.
I will take photos soon of this years yard and put em on my blog...we are mowing tonight. I planted 2 more pkgs of nasturtiums today and some pole beans. I hope my yard turns out pretty..I like to mess around with different combinations to see what works. My Lily of the valley are blooming right now, my lilacs just finished, bleeding heart are up, columbine are just starting, virginia bluebells just finishing up, wood poppies are blooming, tulips just finished, giant irises are getting close, false indigo just starting to bloom, gerbera daisies and petunias and marigolds adn diantus are blooming now...aiting waiting on everything else.

Pictures ladies....don't you just love gardens? Hey we could change the apron thread name to Apron Ladies Garden Tour....since no one is doing much with aprons lately! Except Kathie....sellin hers!! YAY!
Ok collectors, I had a great idea for what I want to collect instead of more sewing machines.......sterling silver thimbles....there are some really adorable little thimbles out there....yea, I can see you now Bonne....on ebay and Craigs list looking up thimbles.... Anyways, there are some really cute ones and God knows they are useful....the holes in my fingers prove that one! I found my first one at an antique market today...brought it home and polished it up and it is a beauty! I would take a picture, except my camera died today and the charger is not with me presently.....dang!
I finished my daughter's quilt top yesterday and sewed another apron....me-sized western apron....used that cowgirl pin up and the reversible is a spotted pony print.....hope it doesn't make me look "horsey"!LOL
Hey Steph....we have baby Canada Geese in the pond down the road from us~I thought of you!
Jess....don't work yourself into a lather, ok?? Gotta take care of that little one! Oh, I am so excited....I am going to be an aunt....Auntie Bev....I thought actually we should all consider ourselves aunts to this new baby!!!
OK gals, gotta go relax a bit. Tomorrow I am planting my Mom's flower garden for her. Beautiful weather here in PA....oh so sunny and 70's. I just love this weather!

Well Bev..you have to establish your foundation herd.. and plus that's a very good excuse for why you have to keep them ALL!! After a couple of kidding seasons..you'll see what might be allowed to go live with someone else..that is with a detailed profile of the people and just what their intentions are with the goaties.. Woohoo...omg, I always cryed when kids were sold even though I knew I'd have 100 goats before I knew it otherwise..
Still no baby ducks or geese in my pond but have spotted babies in other ponds nearby..I've got the ducks coming to my porch and eating sunflower seeds..LOL Got to go to the feedstore and find a feed just for ducks and geese.
The sterling silver thimble collecting sounds wonderful..man you can collect til your heart's content..there really are some beauties..I've looked at them on Ebay..some very nice ones.
Jess, Gerbera Daisies, Lavender and Roses are very favorites..The gerbers look like smiling happy faces Look forward to seeing pictures.
Hope everyone has had a good day. I'm now seriously having to deal with my fabric collection and other sewing stuff now that the house is being sold..should close by end of June. I really had intended on selling a lot of it as well as just finding a good home for it..... so I will be bringing back boxes and boxes of it at the end of this month and then get the rest later in June..gonna have to rent me a storage room because it won't fit in this apartment I'm in.
See Bev...thimbles make so much more sense...ROTF
Hugs...

OH YEAH! Thimbles- small! So you girlz are like me and ya just have too much stuff!!! I have a great start on the thimbles- First, by accident- i ended up with several that friends from the mission field had bought and thought of me. Next-also by accident - as my mom and I were helping my aunt clean out her lake house for sale, several years ago, we opened what we thought was a bag of ruined blankets to find 4 yes 4- lovely quilts made by my great great aunt- what else do you think was tucked into the bag?? A silver thimble with her initials on it. Absoloutely lovely. Next- as we were sorting the tons of jewelry from this same aunt(recently deceased) we found another silver thimble in a box with the tag still on it-from a trip into Mexico in 1955 ,I think. Very intricate and tiny- So- I guess I'm a magnet for them!!! On my way to sort & sell again! I'm sure glad my aunt didnt collect sewing machines- they are just too big to haul 500 miles-yes thimbles are easier!
Blessings, Autumn Farmgirl #49 http://simplytoday-autumn.blogspot.com/
