Thanks...I love my house too. I am not sure if my definition of ethereals is the same as yours. But I have not thought of it that way.

Jessica, I really like the old homes. We have one close by, but it is really run down. It is also sad that they built up around your house like they did. I just don't understand, how they can't leave the areas like yours alone.

yes i agree sharon, it makes me ill, i still have 2 acres, but it just seems so small. our house used to be a huge farm. We still have one of the barns, but apparently there were several. I also still have 2 of the apple trees so this summer I am going to try my hand at apple tree propogation...we shall see how that works out. I love my house just as i love my family, so I hope one day i can have everything perfect, but we have really outgrown the house, so it is this internal struggle to stay where we are or go big...pluss we really want atleast 50 acres.

That is a lot of acres. The areas around where I did my craft show were large. Some were dairy farms. The owners sold off part of their property, because there is money in the land, and developers build homes which are stacked right next to each other.

yep that is what has happened to most of the land that was with this house. A huge amount of it is actually a really nice golf course...way too expensive of a membership for us though.

The part of the country I enjoy the most is where there is a lot of open land. I hate the way that they built up areas in California. I live in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles, and we have our own town council. We can decide on how the area is to be, although the people in Los Angeles, managed to build large homes up in our local hills. They went around the laws. Everyone fought against the development, because we have a lot of horse trails up there, and now the horse trails fall on personal property, so there is a huge battle over that. The horse trails were to remain as they were.

I like the small community feeling, although they built a 24 hour fitness, a grocery store, and coming soon a SubWay sandwich within a mile. As long as they don't touch the old homes around here. Of course, who am I to talk. The land that we live on used to be an orange grove. I just don't like it when old homes are torn down to build condos like they are doing all over Pasadena. They have gone condo crazy.

it is happening here too, we used to be a very quaint small town with a huge university. Now they are tearing down all the old shops and main street areas and all the small downtown old old neighborhoods to put in high rise condos, strip malls, and we have more than a dozen starbucks...worst coffee I have ever tasted. And all the old houses on big farms are being split up and the ugly plastic boxes with garages that look as thoughthey are going to swallow the cars arein place...yuck.

There are 3 acres for sale a few houses down from me and I am pleading with my husband to buy them, but he told me it is not that easy when it is just land with no houses, and he does not want to buy it outright, he would like to have the mortgage. So I am not sure what we are doing.

That is so sad what they are doing. This is why our town council does not want that to happen here, and they can make that happen. I honestly don't see what the attraction of the condos are. I know that it is greed on the part of the developer, but for the person choosing to live in the condo. It is outrageous what they are asking for the condos.

Jess, that possum knew you had nice clean pillows for him to sleep on...yes, it looks like a young one..They used to come up on my back porch to eat the cat food that I kept on a table so that the hens wouldn't eat it..LOL Everynight around the same time a couple would be on the table eating the food..I could stand at the french doors and look out at them and they'd see me and just continue on with the eating..There at one point I thought for sure that the possum must have been my animal totem since so many of them were on my property...no one else around me had the problem but I was sitting there with a 1930's cottage, small barn, the dairygoats and 3 acres and was surrounded by newer homes on lots....so I guess they knew that there was always food available.

I LOVE your house...I have always lived in old homes..they have such good energy and I like living with the spirits that were there before me. Living in an apartment right now is well ummm...I can't say that word on the forum..ROTF

We've got the mountain house sold..just working out the details..and of course the ONLY reason I'm in an apartment right now is for this job that Thomas is doing..it will make us the $$$ to go buy the cabin in the Smokey Mountains in a couple of years. So I have a goal and that's what makes it tolerable.

YAY Jess! congrats!
Love the house btw...is it still yellow? love that color on an old house...when you redo the porch...you have to totally add a porch swing...hehe...

hiya ladies! I've been busy trying to get everything finished for the school year, when I'm all done, I'll be back in at least every few days, totally got to get this business going, I want to skip the "get a job" phase of my life..rofl

keep sewing!

LOL Jess, well I know all of this new construction I'm in has gone to my head. Apartments are so generic..I'm bringing back my fantasy art pictures from the house on the next trip..They are so colorful..good energy..I've tryed not to bring so much stuff but possibly being here for 2 years..well, it's like stopping or putting life on hold to not have everything around that's familiar.

Any I know the years are going by way to fast so "living today" is most important.

Well I'm sorry the possum wound up in the trash but he probably would have brought the rest of his relatives to cosy up in your laundry room.

Hey Bev, You've got the visual!! The front porch, the rocking chair, the wildlife and me crocheting..sounds wonderful.

Yippeee and patting myself on the back, I finally caught up on the apron thread, so I have been reading all night, neglected some of those minis, but I am caught UP!!!!!!

So Jess, it wasn't just a tummy ache quite a while back....lol
Congratulations sweet girl. I and Teresa of coarse, are so happy for you.
Have to say we are having quite a bit of fun with Caleb Ean, who is down at my house late this evening. He has decided waking up later and visitin is fun. He talks away gooing and making fun noises.

I don't get up till 9pm sometimes later depending on the night. Go to bed around midnight and ususally fall asleep after an hour of reading or so.

Linda I like your doll. Recently acquired a really cute cabbage patch doll from Ronna. She is darn cute and had I seen the doll clothes swap earlier I might have been tempted....lol

So now that I have caught up I need to get my touchie to bed. Hey it was my goal for the night!!!!! I finally made a goal, celebrating, doing a happy dance. Okay, I definitley need some sleep.
Night girls.....

Yes Nay, house is still yellow, we have a porch swing. When we redo the porch I will add a rocker or 2 I hope. Also there are plants all around the outside. And the yucca is gone...not my style plant.

Steph...I discovered 4 years ago that if they don't go in the trash you become infested even if you drive them far away and drop em in the woods. I think I need to get in my crawl spaces again and take a look around....it took em 4 years but they back. So my new weekend job...yay!

CS...glad to see you back.

Hey Naomi, good for you! get that sewing machine smoking so you don't have to work for someone else..that's always a blessing especially these days! You've got the "know how" and great style! I know you are going to do great.

Jess, I know it's funny how they'll show up again (over and over)..I was a possum slayer for about a year..LOL then they finally got the message to the extended family to leave me alone for awhile!

Yeah, Jess, I was so glad they let me return them, but the owner is good about that, and she knows that she can sell them to someone else, or let them free range with the other chickens that she has there, haha...dunno what I woulda done if she had said no...haha
