Thanks ladies. I would go stir crazy if I was stuck in bed like my mother. Jessica, I am sorry about the problems that you are having with your neighbor.

Question: Ladies what time do you get up in the morning?

I wake up around six, but I like to read in bed for a half hour or so before I get moving. Early mornings are such a nice, quiet time here, It doesn't matter how late I go to bed, I always wake up early. Karin

Hi, I'm new to the group and love to sew! Could anyone recommend a good starting pattern for an apron? Did you use the one from MaryJanes Stitching book or is there another one you like too?

Thanks!

MaryJane's aprons are good, they go together very easy, however sometimes the sizing is difficult if you are a first time sewer. And some need to be made more full to hang right. I am thinking of an easy pattern...hmmm....the other girls will jump in I am sure and name off a bunch, I usually draft my own so I am not much help there, sorry!

I think the MaryJane pattern is good and not too hard.

The oldest son is 21 and the younger son is 19. The oldest son was up most of the night uploading pictures from the trip up north, so he is very tired. There were hundreds of pictures to upload and the uploading was so slow. My son still has more pictures to put up. Not all of the pictures are the ones that my son took. He is putting everyone's pictures up on his website's server. The other students need to have the pictures for their projects. My son was responsible to crop or fix the pictures. Today, they are meeting to work on the video that is due Thursday. They wanted to meet here, but they are meeting in the conference room at the college library. I would put the link on here, but thought that I would get permission from my son first. My oldest son also has about 3 other projects for the same class due this Thursday as well, but he has been busy doing the other things and helping the other groups with their projects.

The youngest son had work yesterday and jazz practice until 11 pm or so last night. Chris is in the Caltech jazz band.

Hey girls! I FINALLY got some sewing done- I finished my blocks for a swap!! It was so nice outdoors that I hauled my old machine, iron and small cutting/pressing board out to the patio and had a wonderful time sewing! There was a crazy old mockingbird keeping me company and my son was swimming in the pond with 2 friends.
It was a lovely afternoon and I am so thankful to be getting back to normal!!

Blessings,
Autumn

Oh Autumn, there you be!!! What a wonderful location to sew.. The weather's getting nicer by the day and that sunshine is good for the overall mood. I've started walking everyday..I get up, brush my teeth, comb the hair, pull on some clothes and walk out the door...it's the only way I can seem to stay on track. I'm up to walking 30 minutes at a time. Then I come in and have my cup of hot tea

So glad you are back..I've missed you.

Autumn, I am so envious!

I am wading thru a pile of ironing and my sewing machine is smiling at me from the corner...actually I think it is taunting me!

Steph...good for you! The exercise will add years to your life....and they will be much more productive!!

Someone asked what time we get up in the morning??? The alarm goes off here at 5...I am usually out of bed between 5 and 6....depends on what the pressing task of the day is...and also what kind of a night I had.....with 2 snoring dogs, and one snoring hubby...sometimes the sleep is a bit interrupted...and then there are the hot flashes that only come at night.

Okay Bev...too early! Hope the worms taste good.

Good for you Steph..I bet that really kick starts your day1

Autumn...so glad you had fun...as soon as I get all my chores for spring donr I am movin a treadle out too. Yay! Sheryl was my inspiration for that...glad to know you do it too!

Sharon, hope you get better soon.

Well, today I hauled 5 more wheelbarrows full of limestone up the hill and finished the border for the bed I was working on all week. NOw I need a hot bath, a trip to the chiropractor and some hot masseuse. Then I went to 2 of my kids soccer practice and my husband showed up at the end of practice with a fabulous picnic dinner for everyone. He was thrilled with the way the border looked and thought I probably did not feel like making and cleaning up from dinner. So we had a nice night at the playground and a picnic.

So, then my husband called a family meeting in the grass under the big maples and announced to the kids that at the end of October we will be adding one more to our family. So...we had a wonderful warm day here today and now everyone is settling into bed. So I am off to fold todays laundry. Have a great night girls.

Congratulations Jessica. You have a wonderful husband there. It was so nice of him to surprise everyone with the picnic, and a wonderful way to break the wonderful news with the other children.

It is nice to have a considerate husband. My dh is considerate, but I don't ever remember him surprising me like that. Dh has been diligent though in cleaning and dressing the wound and he has so a lot of many other fine qualities. I looked at the wound today, and it is going to take a while for it to heal. There was a big chunk taken out of the toe.

My husband is great and as long as I am around to direct he can usually pull off the rest, buty he works too much, so we have to always try to work around his crazy long hours...but the bills get paid, so I cannot complain.

My husband works too much as well. The company was awarded a new contract which was in effect last January, but the long hours started long before then as they had to be ready to go by January 1st. Dh will take it upon himself to clean the dishes, or even clean the bathroom, or vacuum the carpet. This is fine as long as he doesn't do the laundry, which is mounding up by the way. It will probably take another week for the wound to completely heal, but doctor's orders were for limited walking on the foot for 7 days, which ends on Friday. I told Carol that it is hard not to walk on the foot because I had orders to send out this week. Either people were buying gifts for Mother's Day, or they were trying to purchase items before the postal rates go up next week. I still don't know what the new parcel post and priority mail rates are. The postal worker didn't know last week when I asked her.

Yeah John goes to work after taking the kids to school, he is in his office by 8:30, unless he is working at his office that is and hour and 30 mins away, then, I take the kids to school and he gets to his office by 9:15. He works until the kids have an evening event...whether it school, sports or music related...then we usually divide who runs who, or we all go together. Then we come home, eat dinner, and he goes back to his office and works until 3am most days..sometimes it is 5. And while he is gone I put kids to bed, do laundry, dishes and floors, sew a bit, take a nap, check in on here, and hang around until he gets home.

Good luck with the new rates.
