(I actually have a really.. REALLY BIG story.. But I'm thing the timing is bad.. so.. I'll save it.. give up the proper enough time to mourn the goat before i rip into this one..)
My thougts are with ya today though Kiddo..

ok.. Well most of you may know that we have always had horses.. Like ALOT of Horses.. Not any all ALL right now.. (Long story shory.. I got very sick.. things changed.. we moved around a bit.. & rethought what we were going to be doing for awhile..) AND.. Just like picking up the dog poop in the house.. I was the one that did the majority of the work with the horses..
We had our 5 acres at home where I had a small barn & kept a small handful of horses.. sometimes a couple sale horses.. but mostly some that the kids would ride.. & that I just liked to see when I looked out the Kitchen window.. you get the idea..
THEN i had another Huge massive business where I had this Monster of a Barn.. I had a few turn out area's.. a round pen.. Pastures.. an arena with lights.. the whole shabang.. I could house EASILY 60+ horses.. & did quite often! I had about 50 stalls & then in the Pastures.. a few shelters out there if I needed them.. or if I just had any partial boaders.. We had Boarders.. I had Studs in the barn.. So I did breeding.. I bought & sold horses..& I did Horse Training & Riding Lessons.. I even did Camp for the Kids! Even parties! AND we did compititions.. (Not at My Barn..) But we would all Go together.. Like Team penning.. & rodeo things..
So Yes.. Of Course I've gone off Track again..

ANYWAY!!
The Horses at the house were USUALLY our own personal ones.. sometimes a few sale horses.. But if they were.. it was usually because they came to me looking AWFUL so i kept them at home with me until & "brought them back from the Dead"!
But i had this One Horse.. Her Name was Dolly.. she was like 18 years old or something.. A Beautiful Belgian! SO.. You KNOW How Big this Horse was???? I had Dolly maybe 5 or 6 Years.. She was an Absolute Angel!!! She would let little kids climb all up & around her.. she was Perfectly fine with this..! I never put a saddle on her.. Just clipped a set of reins on her halter if we needed too.. or.. if my daughter rode her.. the mane was fine.. Dolly was that easy going.. HOWEVER!! Dolly was Sick.. Always had been.. I got her off the Killer Truck.. I got alot of horse from the killer truck.. (A friend of mine used to have the local holding pen for horses that were going to be picked up by the truck.. These horses were meant to be going for slaughter..) ok.. if you want to stop reading.. go ahead.. i didn't mean for this to be a sad story.. but the details are sort of going in that direction.. sorry..
But it was ineveitable that the truck was coming.. & would already have some horses on it.. I usually knew what days he may show up.. sometime i would avoid that day.. But alot of the times.. the horses that had been dropped off were there still waiting to be picked up!
Now some of them were absolutle lost.. they had to go.. & it was inevitable.. Their owners had sent them for a reason that was as humane as they could think of.. or as much as they felt or knew.. Some were sick.. or were broken.. or old.. or just mean.. Lots of reasons.. we didn't always hear all the stories of course.. But I'd pulled more horses out of the lot before the truck showed up then I can count!!!
ANYWAY!! DOlly Was Sick when i bought her.. Yes.. i Had to buy her.. Because now.. they are going not by how Pretty they are.. or their skills.. or their breeding.. or temprement.. or how well they ride.. But NOW they are going by the pound... But how much they weigh.. Dolly was a very big Girl..I don't even rememeber how Much i paid for her.. Sometimes I would Beg & Plead with Jim to Just Give me the Stupid Skinny Horse trying to convince him that he was doing a good thing.. (Which really.. at his age.. he didn't care about this anymore..) Or try to negotiate a better price.. cheaper.. OR trade.. I'd clean his ICKY natsy office Or WORSE YET!! BARNS! To work some money off of a horse! (Right.. like I EVEN had the time for this!!)
So.. i bought Dolly KNOWING that she was Sick.. & we had her at HOME.. & she was my Kitchen Window Horsey Eye Candy for almost 6 Years.. I could go out so see her.. & mess around with her & fill my nostrils with that lovely Horse Smell when ever I wated to! She was the SWEETEST most affectionate Horse i can remember us having.. I could stack 5 teeny littel kids along her back & tell them to hang on to each other.. & say, 'Ok Dolly.. Take the kids for a walk'.. & She'd walk out to the barn.. & come back.. & the last little bit back she pick up he pace JUST the slightest bit.. to make them begin to bounce some.. & they'd all squeel like it was the most thrilling ride they'd ever been on!
My Vet determined that she probably had Cancer.. But agreed that there maybe was alot more going on in there.. & said we should let her keep doing what she was doing.. & live her life out in her pasture.. None of us dreamed she'd make it as long as she did.. but she got so nice & fat sometimes it was hard to believe she was even sick..
But then every once in awhile she'd go down.. & just had the hardest time getting up again.. it's as if it was just too much for her.. & one afternoon it finally was.. I woke up & looked out & at 1st didn't see her.. then noticed her lying over halfway in the sun.. & half shaded next to the barn.. by the cross ties.. I called out to her from the back door & she didn't seem to move.. I went out.. & she was alive.. just not interested in getting up it seemed. I fed.. & watered.. I ran some errands.. & about 10am..she was Still down.. I said Come on Dolly.. get up Girl.. Nope.. She couldn't.. I talked to quite a bit.,she said she couldn't.. she was too tired this time.. I said give it a try.. She said she'd rather not.. So finally my husband & kids were out with me.. we were all talking to her now.. she told us to go away & leave her alone.. Now it's like noon.. She'd layed like this on the same side for WAY too long.. I told her she HAD to get up! & NOW.. She told me to Eat Dirt! Fine I said.. So.. we put lead ropes on her halter.. & tried to pull.. she just said.. nice try folks.. this ain't going to happen today.. SO.. we broke out the Phamacia.. Bute was a nice try.. but.. so not working EITHER! About 3 in the afternoon My Vet makes it out.. I had been talking to him a couple times during the day.. He said she'd had enough Bute to make a Race Horse actually WIN the Kentucky Derby.. So he just didn't understand WHY She wasn't going & RUNNING! But he felt she had really finally gone down for the last time.. & would Not make it up this time.. & felt we needed to make a decision..
& yes.. THAT meant.. tell him that We wanted him to put her Down.. So.. the decision was made.. We all said good bye.. I layed her head on my lap.. & it was done.. I've never seen anything happen so quikly.. It was a relief to see her go that fast.. knowing that all day long she had probably wanted that very things! & should have done it earlier probably.. But I was fighting it of course.. NOT her!
So.. Yes.. THAT was All Sad..
the Moral to THIS Story is.. DON'T KEEP PETS THAT YOU AREN"T PREPARED TO HAVE TO BURY!
Because As she had now died there in my arms practically.. & I & my Mom & Sister & Like 10 Kids stood there Crying.. (My Kids had loads of friends over. There all in High School at the time..!) The Vet says to My Husband.. Yes.. You can Bury your animals on your property here In Pasco County..
I thought my husband was going to shoot him with the Gun that he'd had handy (Just in case he needed it of course )
I blubber.. "YES!! We're Burrying her BUTCH!!! " He sais yes Sweetie.. we will where do you want us to dig.. ? I pointed along the fence line.. Under the shade.. where all the roots are growing from that lovely oak tree..

Thanks Jessica for the tips. Keeping off the foot as much as possible. I was going to go this craft show that I used to do this weekend, before this happened, so I pass on it this year.
And, the dentist originally quoted us one price which is much lower than you paid Jessica. It seems like they give a big discount on the more that is done. I will leave this one up to my dh.
The surgeon also told us that my son's right sinus cavity is much smaller than the one on the left. He also said, that it looks like my son had sinus surgery and that there was a drain put in. He was right on that one as well. My son's health was neglected by the doctors. The doctors would get paid not to refer patients, and would get kick backs from the insurance company. I know this because our ex-neighbor told us this. Whenever I took my son to the doctor, I was told that there was nothing wrong. I would be in tears because I knew he was wrong. When my dh went to see the same doctor, the doctor was different. Our neighbor said, "Tell the doctor that you want a CAT scan. Sure enough there were problems. The sinus cavity was decayed from all the neglect, and the surgeon had to put in a drainage hole. Now, this was not the original doctor. That doctor knew that there was a problem, but said, "We will run some tests, but if the tests prove negative, then we will do surgery." This happened a few times, and we went to another doctor, who did the surgery. The other doctor according to my neighbor was getting kick backs from the insurance company not to do the surgery.

Loved the story, Kathie....man, I would have cried and cried......
2 weeks ago when I was in N.C., I went to a place that sells cement statues. They had a statue of a dog....lying curled up asleep on the ground....so I thought it would be a perfect marker for our pet cemetery (you might remember the tragic story of my Daughter, Jenn's little dog right after New Years.....well, I still have Kody's ashes to bury...) So I bought that cement sleeping dog and am going to put it under a tree (yet to be planted) and that is going to be the cemetery at the farm for animal burial.....also found a guy in Virginia who carves the names into a flat, oval rock that lies on the ground to mark the grave.....
We LOVE our animals.....don't we?

The little Cement Dog sounds perfect Bev..
The Rocks will be Ideal won't they..?
Can you imagine in about 200 years people walking around finding all of these rocks with funny little names on them on your property??
Wondering about our Civilization.......
"Why did these People names Their Children such odd Names as 'Fifi' & 'Spot' & "Fido"..?"
Well I nearly learned my lesson on digging holes for extremely large animals Jess.. I later did bury another Large horse.. & another Pony.. But as time went on.. I decided that the "Rendering Truck" (Yes.. a Very Awful name, Isn't it?) Was probably more what I needed to do.. Some how that really just wasn't my horse lying there anymore.. (Especially after a big dig came to mind..) & Something may as well happen positive from his death. so.. any Future deaths.. I called the Renderer.. Which was bizarre.. because they actually CHARGED you to pick up your dead animal.. & go take them to CHARGE Lion Country Safari for their Carcasses.. or The Gator Farm..
ok.. sorry.. T.M.I.. ??

Wow, ladies you all sure have been busy!
My kids and I got back this afternoon from a whirlwind trip to NJ to say goodbye to hubby/daddy. I would have to say that we truly tok advantage of our time together and we really saw a lot of stuff in the area! We saw the Statue of Liberty (& Ellis Island), we visited Island Beach State Park, went to Chuck E. Cheese (my kids' first time! and Royce's and my first time since we were kids...ask Jess about Chuck E Cheese!), then we went to Sandy Hook and saw the oldest continuously operating lighthouse in the Western Hemisphere! And also visited old Fort Hancock, very neat. The next day we went to Atlantic City and saw Lucy the Elephant! lucytheelephant.org Pretty cool. And that night went to a little local seafood restaurant called Bum Rogers, in Seaside Park, NJ.
My kids loved seeing the ocean, even though for the days we were there it decided to have the crappiest weather...70s before and after our visit...figures!! LOL!
Nora even got bowled over by a wave and still loved it! The funny thing is that Royce got it on video!
He leaves sometime near the beginning of the week for Kuwait, then 2 weeks after that he'll go to Baghdad, and be there for about 9 months. We hope to see him again around Feb 24, 2009.
Steph - got your soap! I tried to email you back about an hour ago, but it came right back to me...can't wait to try it out!

Wow, you gals have been quiet....I hope it is due to good weather where you all are! Here it is beautiful....spent the day planting in my gardens....got the corn, cucumbers, summer and zucchini squash, butternut squash, carrots planted. Also put in a row of 24 lavender plants to make a division between the strawberry part of the garden and the vegetable part.
Spread a truckload of tanbark....and now I am exhausted. Taking a quick break to check on you all and then off to the shower to clean up for dinner.
Hope all are well, and getting brown by the sun!!...but not too brown, we have to protect our youthful good looks, gals!!!!

| Bev., I have been busy. Well, somewhat busy. I went to the Urgent Care last Friday about the gash on the underside of my toe next to the joint where it meets the foot. I should have gone last Wednesday, and should have called dh. Anyways, I have been told to stay off my foot as much as possible, because the walking could undo any healing. It is hard on dh, because he is cleaning the wound and redressing it twice a day per the doctor's orders. Since it is my driving foot, dh has to get up early to take oldest son to school by 7 am. So....I have to take it easy, meanwhile, the laundry, etc. is piling up. Dh doesn't cook, so my oldest son made dinner last night. |

Oh Sharon, if I were closer I would come and help you with that laundry....or change your dressing, etc. So sorry you are going thru this rough time right now!! But....be good and listen so it heals quickly and you can get back to that busy life of yours!
Don't feel bad, my DH would starve to death if he had to cook....well, not really, I guess he would just have take out....every night!

| My dh has cooked, but he prefers to be spoiled. I am hoping that dh will realize what I do. I don't think that he appreciates it right now. I take my son to school 3 times a week and get up at 5 am, so I don't over sleep. Dh usually is the one who gets up early, but if I slept in, so would have my son and husband. |

Isn't spoiling husbands fun? Mine is so spoiled too Sharon. good luck with your wound.
Bev..you have been busy. I have been hauling wheelbarrows of limestone again...only 9 this time but jeez it is all uphill. Only 4 more left to go fo rthis bed, but it will have to wait for another day. I am pooped. PLanted a row of red cannas today. Hopefully the will look good where I planted them. As I was loading the last load of rocks, from across the fence flew a lawn mower....yes a push mower..can you believe it. Those dasterdly(SP?) neighbors were at it again. So enough is enough...called the sheriff. Sherriff came...two of them...went to the neighbors house...chewed the kids a new one..and guess what they were all home alone! So I guess the sherriff waited to talk to the mom. So then after the sheriffs left she and her son who threw the mower over the fence came over...jeez...isnt a mower enough..she wanted to try to do the right thing and make him appologize...then she had a break down on me about being a single mom...the whole time I was just like oh my...what am I going to do? These people are creating so much trouble in our neighborhood...and wreaking havoc in my yard constantly. My husband happened to be in his barn working so one of the kids ran and got him....relief..but grief...I can only feel so much pity. Clean up your life and dont do it by throwing your refuse in my yard. So my husband had a long chat about keep your dog in your yard, chain it up, or keep it in the house! She said yes sir..so hopefully that problem is solved for now. Okay..off to make totillas for quesadillas.

Sharon, Hope you're up and around soon..trying to slow down is hard!
Jess, The mower takes the cake honey...LOL Wow..the first "smart a__" thing that entered my mind was to run some razor barbed wire up above the main fence...ha ha..geesh I know how frustrating that has to be..you have a nice home and take care of it only to struggle with your neighbor to do the same. Maybe the next renter will be responsible.
Bev, I want updates on how your lavender plants do...which type did you plant?? There's too much humidity down here to plant them directly in the ground..the roots rot almost immediately..I had a girl out west tell me to plant them in containers and let them stay dry and they might grow around here.
Today was beautiful here!
