Love the train set-up!! My husband and son had a nice set too. It is in boxes in the basement right now. Maybe someday it will come to life again.

Sheryl-lyn,
did your egg have two yolks in it? We get some big ones but rarely do we get two yolks.

Yes, Denise!! There have been 2 yolks in all of those big eggs! My chickens are young (less than a year) and they are laying some monsters! Glad you like my quilt top! Can't wait to get it quilted.

Sheryl-lyn,
What kind of chickens? We have Jersey giants, used to have black Astralorps.
I haven't started my quilt yet but I'm hoping to get started this weekend. Has anyone heard from ktknits? How is she doing? If I remember correctly she was not feeling to well? Hope everything is ok there. It's freezing here so my quilt will be put to good use!

Ha! They are pretty big, but not ENORMOUS!! They are golden comets and black sex links. They seem to fare the best around here with us. We did not have much luck with silkies or aurucona (spelling it wrong--it is referred to as the Easter Egg Chicken) over the years. They died easily and without any obvious reason.

Oh good Jess, I'm glad someone has heard from her hope she's feeling ok. It is rather sick/yuk time here. We have got to STOP passing this cold or whatever around in this house.
I can't get much done. I got the backing for my quilt but haven't had the time or energy to put the front together yet.

I don't want to be a whiner, so I just haven't been writing in. Work has been awful--tons of work, not enough people, can't hire more, 2 out with surgeries, lots of pressure from the owners, etc., etc. Doing work on the side has been awful too--had to go to court over a divorce case with one of my clients, deadlines, special projects they need done, and just me to do it all. Tax season with year-ends and W-2's here in January. UGH. My husband has been sick on and off since September. Migranes, sinus infections, ear infections, one cold/flu after another. I haven't been nearly as sick as him, but I've had my share too. did I mention his migrane pills? $26 per pill!!

Then, the biggest issue for me has been my right hand/arm. I've been going to a chiropractor since last summer because I think I've got carpal tunnel, and don't want to have surgery. Well, when the weather turned cold, my right hand started to swell, and I've got pain through the knuckles as well as in the wrist. Now he's talking about sending me to a rhumatologist because he thinks it's a combination of osteoarthritis and carpal tunnel. Anyway, I can't do anything for a very long period of time with the right hand. So, I trim 2 sides of a block and make a cup of tea. Then I trim 2 sides of a block and read a chapter of a book. then I trim 2 sides of a block, and I put a load of laundry on. You get the idea. So, making blocks ends up taking ten times longer than it normally does, and I end up putting it off because I know it will hurt when i do it!

ktknits is not ktknitting very much, nor can she do much of any other crafty thing, because everything seems to be so "right hand" intensive, and it makes her verrrrry saaaadd. So, i guess it's a good thing that I'm working 14 hours a day, 6 days a week so i have something to take my mind off it.

Kathy t....trying to look on the bright side.

Kathy,
I just received your quilt square and it is so sweet with the snowmen and recipe on it! Thanks! Now I have no excuse, since I am feeling better today, to not start the top of my quilt. Felt so good I even did some cleaning....... wait maybe that is from a fever or something.

Kathy, I got my block today. It is really nice...thanks so much.
I'm going to put 4 together for a pillow. Then I'd have something soon. I think the pieced blocks look good in a pillow even without quilting...don't you?
thanks again, Linda

Kathy,
Got your quilt block yesterday and it's so adorable! I love it and thank you for the eggnog tea too. I am going to try it tomorrow night. Seems like a good ending to a long week..:)

Kathy, I got your block in today's mail... I just love getting farmgirl mail! Thanks for the block and also for the eggnog tea (kinda goes well with this swap topic with all the talks of double yolk eggs!...don't have my own hens but the farmer who I buy my eggs from has some young hens and I've gotten lots of double yolkers in the past few months) I'm looking forward to trying the tea one evening very soon!
Kathy I hope your aching arm issues are solved soon. That's something I really fear happening to me...
...and I hope all you gals who mentioned being sick/passing the bug around and around in the house get well soon too!
Thanks again everyone for a great swap!
