I would like to get an early jump on this swap, So I was thinking to start this thread now to get a good amount of participats.
I would like to do a 12 inch blocks (12.5 with the seam allowance) The block pattern will be of your choice.
The fabrics will be winter colors. Lets not do holiday fabrics. You know, santa or christmas trees. This way our wall hanging or lap quilt can be left out longer.
Sign ups for this block will start now! I will close sign ups on October 15th. Sound fair to all of you?
All blocks should be mailed by November 30th. That will give us one and a half months to get our blocks done. (if needed I will extend the due date a few days)
I figure if we have 16 participants, that would give us a 4 X 4 lap quilt or wall hanging. Or a couple of table runners. (they make nice christmas gifts) If we have the 16 participants, each person would make 16 blocks. You would mail me 15 and keep one of them for yourself. After I receive everyones blocks I will sort and mail them back.
The final numer of blocks to be made will depend on the number of participants. If we only have 12 then only 12 block will need to be made.
Hope to here from everyone soon!
Here are our participants so far 1 yarnmamma received 12/24 2 sewgirlie received 11/29 3 carycamille received 11/29 4 smoothjuice received 12/20 5 smoothjuice received 12/20 6 cheryl received 11/24 7 katmom received 10/27 8 khartquiltreceived 9 sunshine received 12/19 10 sunshine received 12/19 11 mustangSuzie dropped due to illness. Oh, sounds like a great swap. I have really enjoyed the last three quilt block swaps.
I will have to pass on this one as I anticipate being too tired from treatment. However, I have great faith that this time next year will have me signing up for swaps again. Enjoy, ladies!! I can't wait to see pictures.

Hi Kathy: Count me in. I don't really have a winter themed quilt yet, so this will be great. Thanks for organizing it! |

Oh Joy! Please count me in. Is winter themed fabric ok? I have some with mittens, ice skates, skis, sled, leaves, bird houses with snow, pine trees, and a red bird in snow?

Count me in, Yep, sounds like fun to me as well. I love the deep rich warm colors of Winter. So 16 (hopefully) 12 1/2" winter themed blocks due by Nov.30th to khartquilt~kathy.
Clare, if you were participating in this swap, I'd know your blocks would be absolutely beautiful. Take care of yourself, by next year you will be up to your eyeballs in MJF swaps!

I am new to quilting and this seemed interesting but I have a question -(this may sound crazy), do the ladies just send in a 12 1/2 inch fabric square or do you want batting and a back on it too?? I haven't joined in a swap yet, so I am a a little "green" here.

Hi Tammy, No your question does not sound crazy, what we do is create a 12 1/2" square "block", we make 16 of them. They can all be the same or you can make them different. They can be very simple to very elaborate. It's up to you what you would like to make. As for the batting & backing, no, we do not send those. The receipant when assembling the squares that they receive will use their own batting and backing. So have fun. If you are not to sure about what you would like to make (design wise) google 'free quilt pattrens' or go to Joanns' fabric on the internet & look up their free quilt pattrens. As a beginner, you might want to stay with a more simpler pattren since you will be making 16 blocks. Thanx for joining us, you will enjoy the blocks that you receive. These ladies are so talented. And,,,keep in mind,,,,we are not striving for perfection, but rather pleasure in our blocks & swap.

my life was so busy with kids and school and commuting that on the last one I made simple 9 patches. i know much more difficult blocks but time and energy wouldn't allow more than that every one understands. When they are all mixed together it is good to have complex and simple for variety any way.
have a lovely day and may God bless you and keep you safe my bloghttp://sunshinescreations.vintagethreads.com/ my web store http://vintagethreads.com/ |

Oh, ok. Thank you! I can't wait to get started! Linda sent me some beautiful Winter fabric with holly on it. I think I'll come up with something using that!

Count me in too please. When will you be mailing the blocks out to us all? Will it be time enough for us to put them together for Christmas? I know you said winter themed but I was wondering if I would be able to get it put together and quilted in time for Christmas.

Grace, Thank you for answering Tammy.
So Tammy, Sarah, Denise and Beth I will put you down for one set each. Sunshine, I will put you down for two sets. Beth, I will return mail all blocks in November. As soon as I receive everyones. I think it will give you plenty of time to sew together your blocks. remember ladies, when you are ready to mail your blocks to me let me know and I will email you my home address.

Kathy, I just now noticed you are a jersey girl too. Maybe I knew that before and forgot. Happens a lot lately but I won't forget my blocks.

I have a question. Do the ladies who have signed for more than one set of block make different blocks patterns for each set or do they do 2 sets of the same block pattern? Corinne |

Corinne I would assume they make two different patterns but this is my first quilt block swap so I'm not sure.
Kathy You must be central. I am in Shiloh area. Not to far from the Delaware Memorial Br.
