Did you also see a preview for Casanova with Heath Ledger?
nope, didn't see that one.My daughter swoons over him though! In fact, all the other previews I saw paled in comparison to Tristan & Isolde. I can't even recall what they were. Did see a huge billboard for "Narnia" that looked like it would be cool to watch. Not sure the arrival of that one

Ooh just your description of Tristan and Isolde, BEB, makes me definitely want to see it, I'm going to have to do an internet search for it, and the fact that it is also a Ridley Scott movie will make it incredible. I can't wait to see "Chronicles of Narnia" as well!!!

Saw HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE last night. AWESOME!!! It had me at the edge of my seat and trying not to spill the popcorn. The computer-generated special effects jumped right out of the screen at me. I did make a few yells and squeals. Darn Voldermort, I just don’t like him at all. He has no manners. EVER! But wait, that’s the way the story goes…There is a romantic storyline that begins to unfold, but left one a little confused as to who Hermione is really affectionate for, Ron or Harry? We know it is Ron, for her tears come from her heart, yet she does spend a lot to time with Harry. Not as much classroom time in this film, but lots of excitement with the Triwizard Tournament. Harry finds himself right in the middle of it as his name is mysteriously chosen. It was the shortest 2 ˝ hours of my day. Go see it, you’ll have a magical time for sure.
BEB, I haven't seen the previews for Casanova with Heath Ledger yet. You better believe it will be on my list. Heath Ledger is so hot! even for an older chick like me....My girls and I have watched him in Ten Things I Hate About You, a million times! I love the scene where he is singing 'your just to good to be true'(my old boyfriend sang it to me all the time) as he is watching Julia Stiles play soccer, and pops the security guard on the bottom....The two sisters in the film where so much like my two girls growing up that I thought I was looking in a mirror. BEB, thanks for the hug last week.

Walk the Line ... just saw this movie last night and very much enjoyed it. Can't believe that Joachim and Reece actually did all the Johnny and June SINGING in this film! The 'opening' shot of the movie is my most favorite 'opening' scene i've seen in a movie in my memory. And the scenes with his brother in their youth were very touching too. The scene where he is pretty much 'discovered' (when he 'brings it home') gave me chills .. and WOWZER ... the Folsom Prison scene just gave me 'stand up and shout' chills .. AND .. when he proposes to June (on stage) .. give me cry clumps in my throat! I've not really 'given anything away' here .. it's all very obvious as you watch the movie .. and it's not a who-dunnit type of film. Definitely Academy Award Nomination .. if, indeed, not winner! xo, frannie |

Sue, I do wish you were closer, as we could surely have some turkey day fun. I've spent the past 4 days with my old girlfriends and we have laughed, cried, giggled, shopped, and cooked wonderful meals together. Never do we miss a beat. I'll let you lick the beaters until they are in no need of washing!
My daughter and I are cooking breakfast as I type. She is expecting a baby girl, Maida, in March. I love to watch her eat. Every bite is like a new experience to her taste buds.![](icons/icon_smile_tongue.gif)
Sounds like you need to be lifted up, so I'm putting you in my arms right now girlfriend. Warmest hugs Sue. I'll be thinking of you today as I travel over the Montana mountain passes, listening to my tunes and books on CD.
always close julie

"What right do we have to try to understand the feelings of another person?"
Trying to understand the feelings of others is what makes the world go 'round. Judging the feelings of others is what hurts. My feeling is that if I want to spend time with a same sex couple, I'll go visit my real life friends, not pay $10 to watch a faked Hollywood version by two men who are obviously heterosexual. This topic started as " Hottie-Heath Ledger-Casanova-Fantasy Man for all Women." I posted about the one Heath Ledger movie that wasn't discussed earlier and completely opposite of the roles that were. I guess I should have avoided the topic like everyone else. Note to self for future posts.

My Favorite movie of all time is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin. My sister mom and I always watched it when I lived at home. On VHS it's really long...8 tapes I think but totally worth it. I see a new version is out in the theater I'm so excited to see if it's any good. Has anyone seen it??

Hi Kate,
I love the A&E version of "Pride and Prejudice." The first time I watched it, DH was sick in bed with the flu and I was knitting a scarf for him for Christmas.
Sometime I want to have a Farmgirl Pajama Party and watch the whole thing again marathon style.
We have a "British Tea Shop" here in town run by a British Ex-Pat. She hosts a Jane Austen tea the second Saturday of every month. We show up wearing our "Kate Greenaway" style outfits, sip tea and sherry, and generally have a wonderful time.
Wish you were here, you could join us!!!
Lucinda
P.S. Are you going to go and see the new one with Keira Knightly and Rosamund Pike? I keep thinking I'll be too distracted the parts they have played previously: Pike was a Bond Femme Fatale and Knightly has played soccer and medival tomboys.
When we were young, there were moments of such perfectly crystallized happiness that we stood stock still and silently promised ourselves that we would remember them always. And we did. --Holly J. Burkhalter , "Four Midwestern Sisters' Christmas Book"

I'm with Kate and Lucinda, the A & E version of Pride and Prejudice was brilliant. Each person cast in that version was so utterly perfect I can't understand why anyone would want to remake it and even try to compete! |

YES!! The A&E BBC version of Pride and Prejudice (starring a magnificent Colin Firth..woot!) is my all-time favorite movie. My husband's too, for that matter, we love to sit and watch the whole thing together, usually splitting it up into 2 nights since it is around 6 hours long on DVD. I am interested in seeing the new version with Keira Knightley, but it won't be the same . The funny thing is, not too long ago my husband and I saw Judi Dench in something and said "oh she would make a perfect Lady Catherine DeBurgh"...and sure enough they have cast her in that role!! (We are so good...lol)

After all of this talk last night I put in the first tape of Pride and Prejudice OHHH I'm excited to start watching it again (for the hundredth time). I'm not sure if the new one will be as good but I'm still excited to see it. I’m hoping Emil will watch it with me. Molly I'm so happy to hear your husband enjoys it too. Have you ever read the book?? Was it good? xoxo Kate

The book is lovely, as is Sense and Sensibility. Personally I consider them her best works, I can read them over and over. |

How about The Straight Story? An old farmer in his eighties drives his riding mower to the next state to see the brother he hasn't spoken to in 20 years. It's the last adventure of a man who's done a lot of living, and the satisfaction on his face as he crosses gorgeous golden midwest plains on his mower is priceless. The actor, Richard Farnsworth, was nominated for an Oscar but lost to the kid from The Sixth Sense. Amelie is also a favorite, as well as The Tango Lesson by Sally Potter. Great love story with fantastic dancing.
A tireless mind and a grateful heart will lead to sweeter mysteries. |
