I could've sworn that we've discussed this book already, but I can't find it in any search of the reading room.... so, everyone, how is it? I found it at the GW book bin recently.

I'm always intrigued of stories about pioneer women and their journey west... the hardships, the perserverance that it took to make such a journey by wagon train.

Since I now own it I can read it at my leisure, so it will be a bit because library and loaner books are ahead of it... but I just know it will draw me in...

Jane Kirkpatrick is one of my favorite authors. I just got her new book, A Sheltered Promise, and I probably wouldn't recommend it.
the whole series you're talking about is good, plus A Sweetness to the Soul and Love to Water My Soul are probably my next favorites.
Some of her books have a tendency to make me sad, though.

She has a new book out titled Homestead. It's about her life building their homestead.

Has anyone read it?

Carol,
Yes, I've read HOMESTEAD and really enjoyed it. She and her husband have been through a lot and it's intriguing to read of modern day homesteaders. Another book about modern day homesteaders is HARD TIMES IN PARADISE, by David and Micki Colfax. They homesteaded in Mendocino County, CA (northern CA) where they also home schooled their four sons. Both of these are great reads!
