Blogging friend Rosemary said she reads her Taber book every fall, so I told her I would post pictures of my Gladys Taber books and a hand written letter form her to my aunt thanking her for some hand knit slippers. Rosemary made me think maybe I would re- read mine too.

I used to love her columns in Family Circle (or was it Women's day?) when I was a young married woman. I might search out some of her books, too. Thanks for the reminder.

I've just put in a request to my library for two of her books. Thanks for the recommendation.

I just found a couple of her books at the library. They were both organized around the seasons, and so I was thinking that it would be fun (if I owned the books) to reread the sections for each season during that season.

Is there any kind of suggested order to reading her books? They look like they'd be nice ones to read :)

Elizabeth,
If you google Glady Taber there is lots of info about her. IF you scroll down on the second google page it says, Gladys Taber books, it lists all the ones she has written. I was surprised there are so many.

The Stillmeadow books are the best. Her writing was timeless. When I read her descriptions of life at Stillmeadow and the changing of the seasons and the antics of her cockers, I am instantly transported to a simpler time.
As I look in my two whelping boxes filled with eight wiggly cocker spaniel pups, I know I have Gladys to thank for such wonderful companions. She was such an inspiration to my life. The Stillmeadow Road is one of my personal favorites!
