Clare, I see you're going to Sloan-Kettering for further testing. Do you need a place to stay? My friend had to go to Sloan-Kettering last February and she stayed at Miracle House. She paid only $40.00/night and she loved her room. I do have to say that $40/night at a clean, safe place in NYC is a miracle!

Here's the website if you're interested:

http://www.miraclehouse.org

I know how tiring these appointments can be, I plan to use them in the near future for my own trip to NYC. It's great that there's a place to stay while going to these appointments.

Be well, I am thinking of you.

Jeanette, hey thanks for the info!! We are 3 hours away, the appointment is Oct 1 at 12:30pm so I think we will be OK driving both wys. My husband has been doing all the driving. If worse comes to worse, we can make a pit stop at one of my two sisters in NJ, but we want to come home to be with the kids. Thanks for the info as it may come in handy later on, though.

Clare - Sloan Kettering is an amazing hospital. In 1979 my ex had testicular cancer. That is where they sent him for surgery. We were there for 3 weeks. If you have family going with you be sure to ask about alternative housing. We were able to stay in the dorms at Columbia University right down the street and it was much cheaper than a hotel. You will get the best care and the staff is so kind and caring to the patients and family.

I will be praying mightily for you.

Clare,
Have been gone awhile and wondering how you're feeling. Sloan Kettering is an amazing place. We have a very dear friend who was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease when she was 16 (she's getting ready to turn 21). All her treatment was at SK. and they were amazing with her. She still goes every 6 mths. for scans. It has prompted her to pursue nursing because she got such good care there and she wants to give back. You are in my prayers always. Just wanted you to know you are being thought of and you are loved.

Clare, As a continuation to my post re: Miracle House, Kay's suggestion is also great. Also, call the American Cancer Society, I believe they have other reasonably priced places where one can stay in NYC during treatment and/or testing.

I will be thinking and praying for you as always, but especially on 10/1.

OK, I got my PET Scan results. The BEST news is that the cancer is still in the same area ONLY. The groin lymph nodes are NOT involved. Thank you, God, and all you ladies praying for me. I have never felt so good. After weeks of bad news, this was the best news ever. Maybe I am on the turning around point now?

OK, Monday to Sloan. I did ask my family doctor about Ukrain and gave him information to read. He told me to ask at Sloan and to also ask if there are treatments in Europe that might be more EFFECTIVE than those offered at Sloan for my case. This way, I can truly make an informed decision.

My hubby still wants me to persue Ukrain first to shrink the tumor, but I really need to hear about the choices at Sloan and make my decision afterwards.

Thank you all for the suggestions on housing. That is a big question on my list as I know we will persue treatment there versus here. I have written down all that you said and will ask about all of them.

Please also pray for traveling mercies/safety for us on Monday. It is 3 hours each way. I appreciate it so very much,

Clare, don't stop "shrinking" the tumor yourself. Visualize whatever means shrinking it to you and keep at it. 30+ years ago, I had 6 months to live. I used visualization and here I am. Your mind is the most powerful weapon you have. Good luck!!

love,
Patricia
