you very well may have to contact someone outside of your local departments to get this resolved. I wish you the very best of luck in this and I truly hope that it is not too late for these horses.

I've just started volunteering for our Humane Society Large Animal Rehabilitation Farm. It is heartbreaking to see animals in this condition. I would ask that you be careful in how you approach the situation. In Missouri, there is legislation either pending or has been passed against taking photos on private property, even if you are standing across the street and not physically on the person's property. The investigators have to make three visits to attempt to educate the owner and provide opportunity for the owner to make significant changes. If not, then a court order must be issued to impound the animals. It is possible that these owners have been investigated before, which would make it easier to rescue these horses.

If you don't find any resources in your area, contact the Humane Society of Missouri - Longmeadow Rescue Ranch. They may be able to provide advice on how to proceed.
(636) 583-8759 earlene.cole@hsmo.org I don't know that they could accept the animals. We are, unfortunately, filled to overflowing. It is sad, but the recovery stories are amazing!

I've learned that it takes as much time and energy to wish as it does to plan.

Well girls, I appreciate all of your help and support. But the horses are gone. I don't know where. But there not there anymore. They're not in the barn because they don't have one. And I can see all the way around their 1 acre lot because my property literally surrounds it. I hope maybe they got skittish and gave them to someone who will take better care of them.

I hope they were given to a caring home....or at least (I hope this doesn't sound bad) put out of their misery in a humane way. If you find anything out, keep us posted.
