| Anyone have a good suggestion for where to buy nursing tops online..unfortunately this seems to be the one thing I can't find at the resale shops. |

Ashley, I nursed two of my 3 sons and I just wore regular pull over tops. They were much more discreet then a button blouse. The baby and his blanket helped hide anything from showing when we were in public. I really don't think nursing tops are necessary. Do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable.

I have just been using tank tops that are stretchy enough to pull down. I have found that the "nursing" tops are annoying because of the multiple layers- not to mention hot! yikes! | I think they're expensive and unnecessary. Just get some stretchy t-shirts. When you're nursing in public, just unhook your nursing bra and pull the shirt down around the baby's mouth. Seriously, you can't see anything. |

I made most of my own nursing clothes (patterns from www.elizabethlee.com) and bought a few from motherhood. I found the ones from motherhood to be hot, bulky, and expensive compared to my homemade ones. As a mommy of 4, I never found nursing tops to be unnecessary, but many mommies I know have.
For a cheap fix, buy some cute jumpers and overalls and a handfull of cute t-shirts to match. Try the shirts on with the jumpers or overalls and mark the where the top of the overlayer stops covering the shirt. Then mark between your breasts at the fullest part of your chest. Cut a 6 inch slit from @ 1 inch below the top mark, down through the center mark (idealy the center mark will be in the center of the slit). The knit fabric of the t-shirt will not fray and to nurse you can simply pull aside the bib portion of your jumper or overalls. If you are very busty, you may need to cut the slit longer, but that can be adjusted once you try on your "finished" top.

motherwear.com- the BEST nursing tops- they are stylish and comfy;) I love their camisoles- then anything I put on over it is a nursing top- a big money saver.

Thanks for the advice girls, I had thought about "re-fashioning" some tops I already have to make them into nursing tops so I think I'll try that. Thanks for the jumper/overall idea Rebekka, I hadn't thought of that.
I know some people think they are not necessary, but this time around I'm going to have a two year old to deal with too and anything that makes nursing easier will be a God-send! I also remember trying to "tuck" my shirt and keep it help up with my neck last time and getting horrible neck pain. My first babe also had problems with latching, so anything that added to the process wasn't appreciated, I'm just trying to get everything ready so the process will be even easier this time so that I'll be encouraged to stick with it. Im going to be quitting my full time job so we won't be able to afford formula, so this is my only option this time! |

Ok I just wore normal t-shirts and pulled them UP to latch baby on not down, then put it back down and you can't see a thing - you will eventually get really good and quick and nobody will see a thing. Mothewear sells some nice things and Elizabeth Lee patterns as well but it was pricer and I liked the up better than to the side.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!
