K so most of you know we are moving, well I cant take my Hounddog. So I put an add on petfinder and have had a response. Has anyone had great luck with this site?Or are there any California Farmgirls who want a huntin buddy, he is beautiful and I hate to leave him behind, but it would'nt be fair to put him in a small yard in town. Anyone???

Hey Girl,
How are you? I stopped by my old home town and chatted with some friends today. They live in the country and like to hunt and do stuff like that. What does he look like and how old is he? I know you told me when we meet, but the details have slipped my ever-so-tired mind.

Hey Kristy he is an 8monthold redbone/bluetick hound. Right now he is about 90 pounds, not at all fat, just really tall and stocky. His dad is a bear hunter and his mom hunts racoons and small stuff. He is alover, but has to have lots of space. Some crazy people have emailed me about shipping him overseas to Europe? And someone from NewYork, isnt that kinda far to get a dog? I thought it was weird and told them I was looking for someone more local.

Amanda,
I'll ask around and see if anyone is looking for a dog. But the distance of getting a dog i can't speak. B and I just drove 2600 miles in 2&1/2 days. To get the Great Pyrenees, he is the biggest PAIN IN THE ASS i've had to deal with in some time now. He has chewed through all my fences and let the chickens out (Lost only one). Were going to go electric now... Kristy

If you get emails about wanting you to ship an animal over seas (unless you are a breeder and talk to them on the phone) it is most likely a scam- so please be careful and forewarned. If they ask for your bank account to "Wire" you the money or an address to ship a money order it is most likely a scam.

It really is crazy! I remember when I first saw this type of scam come to my inbox. I was so suprised and now it seems like it is a pretty common scam. I am glad you recognised it for what it was. It is sad that people get suckered into scams like that, especially when it involves pets.

Sure wish I were closer. Wish I didn't already have a passel full of dogs. Wish City Boy liked hounds a little more, because hounds are one of my faves! I just love to hear them calling. I sure wish you luck.

I found two lovely hounds at the shelter once and thought I'd try to find a rescue to spring them, but there really aren't any out there. Wish I had more room for a hound rescue

Tracey I do too. The most important thing to me is to find someone who actually wants him the way I do. My BIL said I could bring him but he has sucha small yard it would be fair to OlRed. Hes a huntin dog. And in town I could just imagine all the complaints we would get because of Owwwwsss!! I am gonna cry so bad when I have to leave him, hes my baby :(

Amanda-

There are lots of people that keep hound dogs in town around here- they just make sure to give them lots of love and exercise and they seem to adapt to town life pretty well.

I am sure you will decide the right thing for your baby.

I never did have much luck with PetFinder...just got a lot of the scam emails. I asked a question about my dog and holy cow!! I took some real tongue lashings!! I was asking about why my cowdog was shedding so much. Really threatening stuff. My dog shed a lot in the first place but when we went back to trucking, she redoubled her efforts on shedding and I was wondering if it was stress or a feed deficiency. So I sorta avoid that site now...*blushing mightily*

Winona :-)

Don't sweat the small stuff...
