Welcome....glad you stopped by to see what this Challenge is all about!

The finished apron can either be worn or displayed. Hang them on your walls, windows, tie to a chairback, hang from a hook, etc.

I'll have to see if I can find this Belle Armoire magazine next time I hit Joanns...sounds interesting...I'd join this but....I'm fairly busy at the moment, and well....I think it'd help if I'd seen the magazine, and knew what you were talking about when you say "artful aprons"...heh...
cheers,

Hey there Nikki,

Any level of sewing is just fine This is about having fun and exploring different machine stitches, hand embroidery, adding ribbons and other trims in no particular manner, adding charms, buttons, etc...You are only limited by your imagination.

When you see the pictures in the magazine it will inspire you..I'll be emailing you.

...til next time ~ queenofdreamsz

Steph,
how's the signing up going?
Are you still hosting this swap?
I wasn't planning on doing any swaps (except for the Fall quilt squares) for a few weeks, but then saw your post and thought I could toss my pincushion in and make a 'surprize" apron for this swap. Besides, I need a sewing fix!
So if you are still on, sign me up!

You can mail it to me now or as late as October 15th. You didn't sign up for the drawing...you gotta go here to do that:
www.dreamkingdomdesigns.com/artfulapronswap.htmland the mailing address is on that page also.

Everyone else is signed up

You can also make aprons and send me pictures of them to put in the Gallery. This is the "Challenge" approach to the event You do all the dressing up of your apron and send a full view and a close-up view picture so it can be "shown off".

Challenge Entry Here!! Would love to see more farmgirls getting involved in making these "themed" "collage" Artful Aprons..whatever you wish to call them. They are alot of fun to make and share what all you did to them

I used Batik fabric and spiderweb fabrics on the frontside and used a vintage piece of paisley design for the back. I used a lot of the overdyed and solid Rayon Seam tape as embellishments along with vintage MOP buttons.

I cut out Spider's, Cats, Bats, and a Witch from another piece of fabric and put a double layer of black tulle over each and appliqued these pieces. I stitched through the spider body so no stitching is noticed. I outlined the witch with a metallic gel pen.

I surface stitched by hand the batik areas...

Pocket Detail shown while in progress..

The Flounce with spiders ready to sew on.. in progress stage...

The Ribbon Streamers I made from Rayon Seam tapes..some overdyed some are not.

Remember, you can participate by either swapping an apron that someone else will add more goodies too OR join the Challenge only and just post your pictures here and tell about what you used and how you did it.
