I need a extra, extra, small thimble to quilt with
I have brought and brought what they call small thimbles only to be disappointed that they are too large for my small finger tips
My hands are really petite size
I am what you might say petite large size.ha
but, I have really small hands. almost like a little girls hand
I found one thimble that is really old in my thimble collection
It fits; but turns my finger green
I cannot quilt without a thimble.
I tried and poke my finger and being Diabetic type 2 that is not a " good thing"
If any of you know where I might find maybe a child's Thimble.
thanks pinkroses

I googled child's thimbles and several sites came up. What finger do you put it on? I have some and I have small hands, I could go try them on if you tell me which finger.

Hey Nancy , it would be the right hand 3rd finger from the thumb
My deceased gran helped teach me to sew.
She said that if I didn't use a thimble quiltin' and hemming I couldn't sew very well
this was true as I tired and my poor fingers got sore and sometimes bled.
thanks Sheila

Sheila,
I just tried all of mine on and they are all to big for my fingers too. I was hoping I had a small one I could send you.

You could try painting the inside of your old thimble with clear nail polish.

One of my dearest treasures is my grandmother's quilting thimble. It is very small, she too had tiny hands, and I've noticed she had lined it with masking tape.

I've heard that to make a large thimble fit better, put it on the floor sideways and step on it until it is more oval shaped then round, and infact I have an old one that someone has apparently done that too. I really ought to start using one more often...

Sheila,

I have a thimble that is too small for me -- not exactly child size, but fits better on my "average adult female sized" pinkie finger than it does on the other finger. I didn't realize at the time that thibles come in different sizes (not that I sew much, can you tell?).

I would be happy to send it to you...just send me an email with your address!
