Beautiful pillow! What a great way to recycle wool. I'd love to know how you applied the applique-what stitch. Did you cut designs from a pattern? I too love the brisk, cool weather of fall. Sick of the extremely hot, sweltering August we just got through. Tracy |

I know this may sound like a dumb question - how do you recycle wool? Just curious of the process!

I use sweaters, wash them in warm water and occaisionally dry them...only after they have already been wrecked in some other way though..then I cut em up! |

If anyone is interested, I took the crow pillow pattern out of a book by Need'l Love, it's Falloween Threads I think, I'm at work now, my memory is shot! Anyway, I used a combination of blanket stitches and straight stitch. I couldn't find any roving the day I finished it so I used yarn picked apart and then I used a roving needle and "punched it in", next time I'll just buy roving! It's pretty scrappy. Those Need'l love books are great. You get a long of bang for your buck!! jo

I LOVE that sunflower Beverly!! I have 4 baskets of felted wool just waiting for a project. I thrift regularly for specific colors. Black has been hard to find- actually wool in general can be a trick down south! Great job- more!more! I need inspiration! Blessings Autumn

I've been meaning to post this link for a "Rayon/Wool blend felt that I use in addition to the 100% wool felt.
This lady makes the Penny Rugs and found this blended felt to be very easy to work with. I've tryed it and it has a wonderful "hand" and is much easier to manipulate than the 100% wool felt and at a fraction of the price.
At $4.00 per 1/2 yard you can't go wrong if you want to try out a nice quality felt...

OOOOOOHHHH Bonne...I love that skirt! You would look great in that! If you want, I can keep my eyes open at the thrift shops for wool for you.
Autumn, that pillow is sweet.

I finally found my table runner. I put this together after finding a pretty leaf quilt pic somewhere. I didnt know anyone doing wool/wool felt and was kinda making up what I wanted for my living room.
I love wool but in the south it looks out of place most of the year- so I really pull it all out in late Sept. Blessings Autumn

Aha, a use for all the wool coats/jackets/suits that jump in my cart for 99 cents. Not that I will do them, but can share them with those of you who are so crafty. Question...I bought a new w/tags Pendleton wool blanket in a most beautiful pattern for $10 and was in such a rush to grab it, didn't realize it had a couple of moth eaten spots. I was so amazed someone had donated it, knowing how much they cost. It's on the rear seat of Larry's pickup now, but really deserves something better. If it was felted, would these spots just condense and essentially disapear? Ronna |

As I remember, less than 1/4" and not all the way through the fabric, just like the moth "grazed" and moved on to munch elsewhere. |

yes they would go away prob with felting...but why not find some other nice bit of wool and put a pretty appliqued patch on it if it is really such a nice blanket! |
