Over the past few days, my husband's been out of town vacationing with "the boys," (ugh...but that's another story for another time!), and so William, Arthur and I have been having our own little mini-parties here. One of the favorite things we've found to do is to make little bark boats to float down the canal. If you have water near you, here's how:
Get a flattish piece of bark - we use an ancient willow that sheds its bark all the time
"Drill" a little hole in the middle of the bark with a piece of fencing wire - willow bark is really soft - that's just deep enough to securely stand a small willow twig up in.
Weave big leaves onto the twig "mast" and, voila! A boat!!!
Float away!!!!
It's really simple, but we could do (and have done!) it for hours.
XOXO, Libbie
