I just cked Craig's List for TREADLES and found a few in my area
that I could actually afford!! I'll have to check them out~Ebay has'em
but shipping costs are prohibitive, and besides, the search is half
the fun, que no? You all are such shameless enablers!!!!!!!!
(have to blame someone.......LOL) Yes, a treadle in every room would be
very convenient and decorative to boot! Jess, your hubbie needs to be cloned.

LOL.....Stephanie............Now I can just see that out in Bev's field and all of we apronistas working away! LOL

E..........Love the little "attitude" on your handsome fella!! And your aprons are gorgeous. The green bias with the blue rick rack just matches so well!!!

Jess...........I can just see you working away on your treadle!!!

Bonne............grab one of those things if you can. Our Craigs list never has any. Well I take that back. The only one I've seen was over $350 and it wasn't in useable condition. I did see one a while back at the "Love of Jesus" thrift shop down the road a piece, but it was rust welded and they wanted almost $200 for it. My sister has a beauty waiting for me in Illinois. If my brother has a movie horse hauling trip out here, he is going to try to pick it up for me, but otherwise, Jess said she'd pick it up and bring it next June...speaking of June..........you gotta come for Camporee next June at Bev's. Hmmmmm Bev, maybe we should nick name the Camporee...."Apron fest" or "Apronstock" LOL

I just can't get to the sewing room. Hubby has been working from home lately and that always puts a damper on my sewing...........The girls start school soon too.

Oh, the big bargain at the store this week when I went in, was Decorative Drapery Rods......clearanced at: $1 yes you read that right: $1. So I now have 10 beautiful acorn finial decorative rods for my house. Never have been able to afford rods like these before I have 9 windows on the front of the house. I was going to put them up here, but think I'll save them for the next house. We are still hoping to move next year.

Anyway........it is 5 am and I think I'll get an hour of sewing done. I have potholders to finish, which are turning out beautiful E!!!! I was going to use those fabric samples, but found something even better!! I hope ya like them!!

Just finished this one. It took me days to get to it. This is a heavy duty work apron...for work at the store. I triple lined the pockets with canvas so that my scissors wouldn't rip through the fabric. I also made it reversible and added scissor pockets on both sides. The pattern came from an issued smock from the store. I also sized it up for me...Size 18...hate to admit that one girls! ARGH.....anyway, here it is:

It's not really crooked. My sewing mannequin has this little crooked posture thing going on. I think it is a sexy mannequin thing. LOL

Got the idea from Bonne's Halloween tabard. Thought....why couldn't I used the store's smock and make an autumn one?!! And I LOVE Charlie Brown. My favorite Charlie Brown show is the great pumpkin!!

I have just started browsing through all these amazing aprons! You ladies are all so talented...I don't know, I may have to try a couple of aprons myself here!

Ok gals.....APRONSTOCK it is..... more info as soon as we pick a date in June 2008. Everyone on this thread is invited to Central PA....Bee Haven Acres for a farmgirl retreat. More info will come as we finalize plans....but this IS going to happen, so start saving your pennies for the trip to PA!!!!!!!!

Wow, I was at the farm for the past 3 days....my modem is down....no dial-up, I think I had to catch up on about 8 pages. You guys are maniacs.

I will try to remember all that I read......

SHARON from CA Welcome to our apronista thread! Hope you stick around, sew a little with us and share your results! We have a blast here....oh yea, and welcome to the farm!

Linda, Amy, we are thrilled to have you join us!! We need new creative juices flowing here......but we do need pictures!!!! And Linda.....you and I are definitely getting together for a field trip this Fall!! Grab me after Labor Day and we will make plans.

Calamity Kim I am thrilled to see your aprons and your blog. You are a gal after my own heart. I would love to be so creative. Your aprons remind me of the kind of collage stuff that I love to do with paper, rubber stamps, etc. How I would love to create an apron that is so much fun...You can see by mine that I spend most of my time inside the box....but actually I am screaming to get out of that boxd for once!!!!

Nash I missed that you were having surgery....am so sorry, I hope all is well and that you are recovering well. The aprons are GREAT!!

E I love the new aprons....of course I am in love with the fabric...you and I are cut from the same mold, I think. OMG I could steal that little man of yours...he is so very cute. You should definitely not stop making babies......you have the right combination there. In fact, if you make too many, I would gladly take one off your hands....LOL I would be a really old mother considering I have 10 years on YOU!!!!!! Hey, are you getting that ruffle maker? what a great tool!

Na I love the wrap apron.....tres jolie!!!

Brenda Welcome...so glad you had such a great time at JO Anns and a fortuitous meeting of old friend on top of that!! Don't worry about the budget.....we girl's have to feed our habits!!!!! I can see you now on the side of the road.....the sign reads..."Will Work for Fabric!"

Bonne adorable graphics.....the little tractor looks just like me. I did not take a picture this weekend....was too busy mowing everything in sight!!!!! Had a blast. I like the tractor better than any car, any day.

Carol Sue can you maybe get the driver on line....I don't think I still have the disk...but I will look....I am so sorry, I never thought of that!

Sheryllyn How comes you don't come out and play with us anymore???? Has school started? Oh no.....we will miss you!!!!

Kathie Where are the aprons? Where are the pictures? I see you all over this forum...but no apron pics????? MJF is soon going to have to hire you! I think you could run the place. Oh yea, I had a thought.....could you post your phone number at work and we could all pretend to be calling you with a complaint.....but actually we could just visit and tell you good things and then your days would be so much more pleasant.....wouldn't that be fun?????

Jess Ok, so is Lucille the middle name or the first name???? Well, regardless, I love the last name!!!!! And your energy level makes me tired......and that is amazing, because I thought I was the energizer bunny.....you must just be a younger version!!!!

Georgann I love that pumpkin apron!!

Bonnie You HAVE to join us and do a few aprons....we have a blast here!! And I saw on another thread that you doooooo like aprons.

Stephanie I love the picture of those old treadle machines. Looks like it might be a little hard to move....but perhaps we can find them in time for APRONFEST....my few neighbors will think I am opening a sweat shop!

So, now, I need more addresses....you all have sent me yours except Denise, Amy, Linda,Bonne,Stephanie, Calamity Kim.....the holidays are coming and I will need addresses for then also to send you info about APRONSTOCK 2008....don't worry, I will not end up on your doorstep! But some mail might just make its way to you!!!!!

Ok gals.....will talk later....I do have an apron pic (snore)to post when I have more time!

Y'all... the first thing I thought when I scanned that picture of the machines was "How can I get them to PA for Arponstock 2008" Could you just see a photograph of y'all really sitting at something like this BUT out in the fields with the breeze blowing??

Gooooood Sweatshop location!! No really, it would be too cool

Too cool..now I'll be looking at treadles around here...bet they are expensive up here too

Yes! Jess found one in Colorado! Roadtrip! LOL Enabler Extraordinaire!
I have a feeling that there are all kinds of treadles around serving as
tables that will soon come out of hiding and pop up on Craig's List etc.
Just keep watching Stephanie. Our antique mall had at least half a dozen and although
they weren't "steals" they were still affordable, and I found another half dozen on Craig's List
around the metro area (within 25 miles). The only thing I worry about is my lack of knowledge as to the functions~need to do some internet searching and see what I can glean as to what I should be looking for as far as a properly working machine and maintenance.

well...start out by making sure everything moves freely and there is no rust...rust sucks! Check for all the stuff inside, and make sure the screws are all in the bottom...underneath. then make sure the bobbin making parts are all present..i have some diagrams for the singer 66...early early 1900s. the singer website is fairly helpful, and i can always scan and email you my manual info. the posibilities are endless ladies.
