Holy Cow Naomi!!
you measure things?

Dang it!!
Maybe THAT'S Where i've been going wrong!!
No Sweet pea.. Yours always look great!!

Thanks For Asking about me Stephanie!!
Yes.. This Stupid Job Sucks!! My hours are really cruddy right now..
Usually like 11:30am to 9pm .. right now anyway!!
Doesn't leave much Kathie time!! & I feel as if i have SOOoooo many projects going on right now.. Too many Iron's in the Fire maybe.. then i broke my dumb foot a couple weeks ago!!
THAT Really aggrevated me!!
Nothing like through a wrench into a speeding womans way to throw her out of gear! I HATE IT !!!!!!
So.. I'm just trying to do a few things in the mornings before i have to get to work.. Manage to see how much i can get away with While AT work.. because lordy! if i had to sit here all day listening to these whinny, screaming peopl all day long with out being able to accompolish something too.. ( like yo-yo's) i'd be tempted to shove pencils in my ears or something.. THEN.. by the time i make it home at 9:30 or 10.. i TRY to get in some time crafting.. with out COMPLETELY Ignoring my husband!! I'm REALLY lucky with him though.. he really is a funny guy..
I mean.. he's Selfish in that he wants me all to himself... & LOVES me to me in the same rooms with him.. BUT!! he LOVES to hear me doing things.. Like when he wants to sit & watch TV at night.. he LOVES to have me in there with him messing with cutting out things.. or doing things that i have to by hand..
& Even MORE WEIRD..
The Man LOVES.. to fall asleep listening to me do things..
Beading.. cutting.. Writing.. Putting things together.. The light doesn't bother him.. & he LOVES the Motion of my moving back & forth with what ever I'm doing!! He Really Is Great about this!!
BUT!! i Can't do the Sewing Machine!!
I mean.. there IS a Limit!! So.. I'm stuck if there's alot I need to do.. I mean It's rough to JUST get home at 10pm.. walk in Kiss your husband.. & then say.. "Ok Sweetie .. I'm going to go sew"
Not when he's been sitting there waiting for ya to get home all night!!
So.. yea.. This Job sucks!
There..
That was My rant for the week.. i hope!

Thanks for asking Stephanie.. Bet ya won't be doing that again anytime soon!!

Haha, actually, I could tell without measuring it what the distance was(but i measured to double check)....Raised by a graphics/sign guy, you learn to notice when things arent straight, even if its just a tiny bit crooked/off....hehe

Since Georgann gets inspiration from just looking at pictures, here's 9 pages

Aunt George, the apron you made Bonne, Rocks! Way fun!
Bonne! I love what I can see of that sundress you are wearing, did you make it(not that it looks like you made it, but because you sew)?

Naomi,

Which graphics programs do you use? I use Photoshop 7 and Microsoft Digital Image Pro. I also have Adobe Illustrator but all I can do so far is the Live Trace. Big learning curve with that one I love playing in those program..I'll learn something and have to sit there and think "How'd I do that?" LOL I finally started keeping a notebook of how to do some things since my mind would go blank when I go to do it again. I've learned a whole lot in the year and a half though.

Anyway, love the picture of the apron at your Etsy shop.

I used Photoshop Creative Suite(CS), which is actually a few years old, they have Creative Suite 3 now, but as you can only have it on two computers at once, I am stuck with the old one...haha
I also have Illustrator CS..but only needed Photoshop for what i did, which, really all I did, cut the backgroud away(use the lasso tool) and put in a drop shadow(under "Layer" at the top), and created a colored layer behind it(if you go to "window" on your dropdown menu it will be called "layers" when that little window pops up, you should find a small button that you can create another layer) Now, keep in mind, what I just told you is how it is for CS, it may be different from an older version, i was using Phtoshop 5 there for a while, and just recently was able to use CS properly(took to much memory for my other computer)
you may be able to find more information on these sites on how to use the programs you have...
http://www.idigitalemotion.com/tutorials/beginners.html
this place has alot of great training videos, if you go to "learn by: subject" select that drop down menu, and there is a whole long list of things they have tutorials for....great site...though there is a fee...
http://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/index.asp
http://www.yellowpipe.com/yis/tutorials/ps7/photoshop7.php?seenIEPage=1

you said "I'll learn something and have to sit there and think "How'd I do that?" "
I completely agree...happens to me alot....haha

anyhow you may not have been looking for "how-to " info....but here is a bit of the tiny tiny bit I know......haha

Thanks Naomi,

I'm always up for learning more! I wish I had the Photoshop CS. Are you through the learning curve for Illustrator CS? I bought a really good book for Photoshop 7 but get sidetracked "in the moment" and don't pull it out to try different techniques.

Anyway, did you find a good price on your Photoshop CS? If so, where? The Adobe software is soooo expensive. I guess I came across the Photoshop 7 four or five years ago at a real deal and then I really didn't start using it regularly until last year. I still get lost in all the layers. It's funny I can layout a graphic from scratch with layers in the MS Digital Image. I will have to work on the Photoshop more. It's great for compressing your photos so they load fast.

Anyway, glad to meet another graphic techie gal!

Stephanie

Naoimi, awsome apron. Well done! Just love the colors and the prints. They go so well together.

Bonne, how cute is that apron you got. Looks wonderful. And I love the skirt too. Your own design, or what pattern did you use. Love skirts too - especially in the summer.

Peace and love,
Annie

Stepanie, I know a tiny bit, but am far from being a graphics guru like my dad...now he is good....
Now i think dad got Adobe CS when it came out, and was able to buy it through a friend who was going to college at the time, thus getting a student discount, and getting it a fair amount cheaper, however, he wasnt able to do so with CS3...
I guess you could try eBay, but beware of illegal copies of it...or maybe there is a software warehouse type website that you could get it....and actually, i looked just now, amazon.com has it too...hope that was some help....
and yeah, I certainly still learning...I can do layers, drop shadows, lasso tool, cropping, in photoshop...but not much else really....I havent done much in Illustrator....I really need to, I dont really know how to do much of anything in it...

Bonne, love the skirt, and yeah, i agree, skirts are tons of fun to make...

Thank you Annie!

Simplicity 4595 is similar to the skirt. I made a longer version of the deeper tiers.

Hey, where's all the aprons?! Nobody sewing on weekends??!!
How do you like these? I thought these were cute patterns(saw for sale online)to get ideas from:

Hey y'all....No, Bonne, no sewing for me until I get back to town on Sunday night. Weekends (usually long ones, too) are spent at Bee Haven Acres. Sadly, no time to sew....gotta do the garden stuff, feed goats, ducks, chickens, horses, and clean up manure.....whew am I a dirty mess tonight. Well, I will share with you my adventures today. I had a friend bring her horse and carriage to our farm so we could go out on the trails.....lots of fun. I took my horse out also...horseback riding. We stopped in our arena for a few laps around to get the horses aquainted......well, my dear Moonbeam decided he would like to try the rodeo circuit and started bucking and went a little crazy......so I am holding on like crazy....staying in the saddle....afraid for my life....this went on for several minutes...felt like forever. Eventually the saddle started slipping and now I am hanging off his side....he is still bucking. So I ditched myself onto the ground. Unlike the last two accidents.....I happily can say that I broke no bones!!!!! But I am starting to think I may need a new hobby.....this is eventually going to kill me.....sort of wish I had been sewing instead.....much safer!
Well, thanks for listening....I had no one to tell about my mis-hap. I think I may be a little sore in the morning.
Otherwise great day here on the farm....perfect weather...70's, sunny.

Ok, gotta go clean up the kitchen.

By the way, Na....great apron.

I love the vintage patterns....I do have an itch to try different aprons, but you're right this one seems to work and I can turn out a lined apron in just a couple of short hours.....so.....

And....my etsy is dead......I have had no apron sales in forever. Hopefully the holidays will pick it up a bit, or my fabric shopping is going to be severely curtailled!

Keep Smiling.....Bev
