Bonne, the apron looks wonderful. You did a fantastic job on it. And love your garden too. Keep up the good work. Almost done with the Lollipop apron for my friend's birthday and then it's onto the others and also to a fabric warehouse to find more material. Having a lot of material is just like knitting and having a lot of ball/skeins in your stash for future projects. You can never have enough of either.

Peace and love.

Bonne.....LOVE the apron....I guess I am going to have to try that one, too! And what a scrumptious garden in that picture! So great to see your smiling face, too....Now, I hope you are seriously thinking of findin your way to PA next summer. I promise you, you will not be disappointed! I think we gals are going to have a great time finally getting to really meet!

Sheryl-lyn(I lost yours), Bonne, Annie.....I still need your addresses....cannot find on any of my old lists (I promise, I am not a stalker or anything like that!...you can check with the other gals!)....BUT, the holidays are coming and I am planning on spending them with my friends....here in this thread....and you all know....I LOVE SURPRISES!!!! (No, don't worry, I won't be showing up on your doorstop....promise)

Well, I am back up to the farm, my dear Sadie (dog) is having a tumor removed today and biopsied (prayers needed....she is my bestest living friend). Will check in with you later...sadly, no sewing today. Come-on snowstorm......

Keep Smiling.....Bev

Oh, Bonne, what a pretty apron! How long does it take you girls to do an apron? 2 hours? 12 hours? What? You girls seem to be able to crank them out like nobody's business! With fine fingering weight yarn it takes somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30 hours (depending onthe pattern) to knit a pair of socks--trying to fit that into free time, it's at least a week, and typically 2 or 3 before I can get a pair of socks done. And by that time, you girls probably have 25 new aprons hanging in the closet!!!! I've got to re-think my hobby!

Kathy, that's why I have to alternate between knitting and sewing. The time involved with needlework is so much more intensive compared with sewing (depending on the project). What amazes me are these gals that do the bias tape trims (and some with homemade bias tape!). That's something I need to work on. My apron is devoid of any trims, so I did it in a couple hours. Now if you include the shopping time for supplies, searching for patterns, etc.......Just makes me appreciate all the more when someone gifts me with a handcrafted item. It truly is a heartfelt gift.

Kathy, I'm hoping to have your apron done by the end of the week. It is quite a complex pattern, and I want to take my time on it. I have to draft your size out first. When I say I'm working on an apron, it sometimes takes me a week to just think about what I want to do with one. Then the pattern search or altering or drafting, then I try to lay it out just so, so that there aren't any weird print patterns in the wrong places. (I bought a dress once where I had worn it for weeks without realizing that it had two "bulls eye" targets right over the busoms on both sides! LOL....I never wore it again. LOL)

So....anyway, your apron should be on the cutting table tonight!!!! Or at least the drafted prepared pattern will be!

I wish I could show ya'll Bonne's apron....Can't yet, when she gets it in the mail, then ya'll girls will see it.

Anyway...I posted a new photo of myself on my blog. It shows my red hair compared to my old blonde hair.

Later, gotta clean house and get supper on the table when hubby gets home.

Whooo hooo who's that hot redheaded mama!! Looks great with your skin tone and eye color.
I'm with you on the red. I'm naturally lt. brown, but
the grey is getting out of hand and I will NEVER succumb to the
grey. I'll be the lady at the Farm Girl Nursing Home with the
"obviously dyed" hair. So far I like using henna the best, although it's messy,
it leaves your hair in great condition, plus you can say, "why yes, my hair color is 'natural',
henna is a plant therefore natural!" LOL Only beware, old men (and I'm talking 70+) seem to make
the most comments on the color. I think they remember it from the 30's and 40's when it was in vogue to use henna.

Bev, my heart goes out to you and your dog Sadie. I too have a dog named Sadie and she also was quite ill this past winter and I nearly lost her. Did a lot of crying then, but after about two months of treatment she finally came around. I was so thankful. Will be saying a prayer for you and Sadie. Let us know how things went. Will send you an e-mail.

Love the red too. Keep it up. The 1949 apron is out of sight!!!! What a fantastic job!!! Guess I'll have to go back in and print out the pattern too.

Bonne, you do what I do - do some knitting, do some sewing when I get tired of the knitting and vis-versa. That way I don't get bored with the projects I'm working on. Of course I've got my crocheting, weaving and rug braiding to work in there too.

Peace and love,
Annie

Georgean.....I love the hair....ok, before I read your blog, I thought that your face DID look thinner, really! Anyways, the red is just lovely and it lights up your face. I think it is a keeper.....tres chic!!!

I am at the farm with the recuperating puppy. She had a drain in her back to drain a hematoma....yuck!! (makes me want to puke or cry....and me, a nurse) and she is stitched up on her chest where the tumor came out....also an infected anal gland...ouch! All in all doing very well...none the worse for wear...thanks for the kinds thoughts everyone.

I did have a few moments to sew while she was in surgery this AM. Started another reversible aprons....another with cherries....what is it about cherries? This time I took a lot of care with the pockets....different decorations. Will post when I get back home to town and get a chance to finish it. Brought the pockets with me to do the handwork. Well.....gotta go start supper.

Keep Smiling.....Bev

So is that like a "faux" wrap? Whatever it is, it's
cuter than cute! Now if it had a back, I'd love a dress
like that~I'm seeing so many aprons and half aprons I'd love as
dresses and skirts!! LOL
You are just on a roll, gal~must be the auburn tresses

Yup, that is a good description for it. It is a "faux" wrap, but actually it is more like a double front overlap front flap! LOL The only thing seen in the back is the ribbon belt and the neckpiece. Hmmm....I bet I could turn it into a wrap dress easy enough....great, now I've got another challenge! LOL Phew, I will probably take a sewing break and take the girls to see Hairspray tomorrow or Thursday. Probably Thursday because it is supposed to be 99 degrees here.

Oh, geez, I didn't mean you had to go sew up a dress!! LOL
I should have known Aunt George was one of those gals who if
you told, "you can't do this" , she'd be chomping at the bit to
prove you wrong. "Watch me!!" ROFL!

Seeing all these pretty prints, I'm so stoked to drop by Joann's tomorrow~(Quilter's prints are $1.49/yd 12-18th whooo hooo!)

LOL...you are so right. That attitude has gotten me into alot of trouble! I was looking at it and planning on how I could do it and I think it would work into a great little halter type wrap, but I might be able to drape a back into it too. I really love the way it wraps and my 9 year old tried it on and it fit her too!! LOL....from size 10/12 girls up to size 18 womens...very versatile apron. Tomorrow I'm searching for two holiday fabrics to make this a reversible two holiday apron! LOL I'll use green colored bias tape so it can go with the two fabrics. I have a really cute creamy/tan with pumpkins, now to find either a Halloween or a Christmas fabric to experiment with.

Oh, when I get on a roll......stop me please.....I have Kathy's apron to do first!!! It is from a vintage black and roses fabric and will be a victorian cut.

Well....off to bed! G

Oh, Bonne, have a safe trip and be sure to take a handmade apron with you!!!!
