KTKNITS....Kathie.....I have fabric samples up on my blog for you to chose for your apron if you would like to look. Just let me know if you like any of the three. I have more, just have to go to my upstairs stash to get them. I know you said you like darker colors. All three would be quite elegant looking!

Lemon Head

I just got a gig making aprons for sale. This is great since I have been sewing sorta on the manic side lately. I do this after I lose a pet for a month or two. SO they understand that they need to get them while they are hot. Because I am not planning on having to put another cat down.

Thanks, I still have to finish the neck.... which means a trip to get more of this bias tape, and I think I am going to sew a little brown button near the bottoms of the pockets.... for some weird styalized lemons.

A little shop... they have this funky kitchen shop... they are carrying my soaps and teas... eye pillows.... and now aprons until I get through the cat thing. This is the second cat I have lost in the past year. I only have one left.

Elizabeth, your lemon apron is beautiful! That shop is lucky to have you. Wow, that is alot of different items in there. Did you show them one of your aprons and they had to have them? One look and I'm sure they were hooked on your beautiful sewing!!

Congrats!!

OMG! Elizabeth, I don't think they are going to let you get by with offering aprons on a temporary basis! Perfect accompaniment for soaps in a kitchen store. It's adorable.

OK Bonne,
I am making the apron that you posted a link for and I am calling it the Bonne.

If you would like to see it, click on my blog link under my name. I'm going over there to post it in a few minutes, so give me a bit.

Ladies, It feels good to sew an apron again. This one is turning out SEW beautiful!!! Thanks for the link Bonne. I am making this first one out of a really soft pale peach muslin. I didn't know how it would work up, so wanted to use something soft and feminine and not bulky. Hope you like it. Like I said it is a WIP. I'm going to finish it up this evening.

Very, very cute Elizabeth....we love them both...my daughter and I. Betty boop is so darling and I love the French soap one......scrumptious and bubbly all in one.

Kathie, thank you. Just had to try that one. It is now done and is in desperate need of some embroidery and a small figure to wear it. I say that 1949 pattern would probably fit a size 8 to 12. I didn't put the darts in it, that will need to be done by the gal who wears this apron so it can be a right on fit!! Anywhoooo

Oh, I did put a few finishing touches with new photos on my blog. Added a broach like button and some vintage coasters tucked in like a bow. Anyway......lots of fun....oh, I did go ahead and dart it. It just really helps with the shape and hang of the flounce!

Off to start another apron.

Oh, here is the almost finished 1949 reproduction apron from Bonne's post:

And the back:

Oh, and lookie what I got for fifty cents today at the thrift store. I have this folded double. This is actually a double size 100 pound feed sack. I think I sense another apron coming from this flour sack!! Actually I can get two from it!!!

I really Love things done with Flour sacks too!
you know what i have..
these old.. um.. what are they.. Not flour sacks.. sorry.. short term memory thing kicking my butt tonight i'm afraid..
sacks.. but bigger.. REALLY big..
Made out of ..
BURLAP!!
That's it!! Whew!! My Meds must be really off!!
Took me forever to think of that!
Anyway.. i have several of them.. & they are so cool.. Seems to me I'm remembering them from Columbia.. Brazil too maybe.. Coffee was in them I think.. WHO KNOW'S what else..
So.. i Love the looks of them..
But I have no idea what i want to do with them..
I have a couple hanging on the walls.. Well, you can only guess how demented THAT looks.. Any ideas?

well, I would think they'd be sturdy enough to use to cover a seat on an old kitchen type chair. That would look cool if they have the print on them to do a small chair back and cushion with them.
have a muslin fabric underlay then put the bags over top of it.

then with the scraps you could cover a small lamp shade with the burlap and hot glue old fashioned pom pom trim to it.

just some ideas..maybe they'd work?? dunno?

Very cute Apron Georgann... I may need to give that one a go... I do think that the flour sack is going to make a very cute apron. Is it printed on bothe sides?

Kathie, I have no idea what to do with burlap sacks... ?

Clothespin Apron
I did make it one big pocket, and tacked it down at the top. I wanted to be able to shake them to the center

I still need to sew the ties on, and sew the buttons... but I dont like the colors of those buttons. I will find the right ones. Maybe some beads will work.

Elizabeth, love the material - it's just too darn cute for words!!!!!! I haven't seen anything like it. Have been inspired with all this - have a friend who's birthday is the end of the month and I've got one apron made for her. got some of that "cowgirl" print material for the Farm Girl apron, for the Lollipop apron I got a blue and red bandana print for the top with a chickenwire print in red for the bottom. Just fell in love with that chickenwire print. Hope she likes them. got me a cherry print on blue background for the Fancywork apron. So better get stitching.

But just have to tell all of you that I dearly love seeing all your creations and the different materials you use. All of you have such an artistic flare.

Peace and love.

Thanks Bonne, I have a fabric Buying problem.... When I see it... I have to buy it. Sometimes I have to buy it all. This is one of those fabrics that I found a little piece of reminant in the bin at Joanns. About a month later they had it. So I got it all. Then I found some more at another Joanns weeks later. I have about 5 yrs left and I will be making more of this clothespin apron to sell. I need to get more bias tape. Sometimes they just scream to be made into a apron.

I love these retro fabrics.
