I am sewing almost all day everyday!! I teach all year, so when I am home for the summer, it's ON!! I have a machine out on the porch, one in the dining room and one in the sewing room. All different color threads in them so I can do whatever I want without changing threads. The embroidery machine is in use a lot right now too. I actually sew more in the summer and get more stuff done daily. It's a happy time!

Out on the porch I have a quilt that I am piecing from a class I took last month (an international mystery quilt series), plus I mend darker clothes out there since the thread is dark. In the sewing room I am working on the mini aprons (that's where the embroidery machine is) and I sew the binding on there too. In the dining room I am working on small quilts and a pair of curtains. I made a wall hanging with the extra red/white/blue blocks we swapped on another thread this week. I made that quilt in a day!! I even impressed myself with that one.

My kids' friends always seem to sit near wherever I am sewing at night. They cook and draw pictures together and have fun, and I get to be near it all. I enjoy that since they are all growing older (college age) and will not always be here. Some of them have asked me to sew and I show them how to mend their clothes.

Oh, and of course there are aprons to be made! I love making those!

It is so very quiet around here most of the time and I am totally ALONE all day. It is so strange and foreign to me. I cannot decide if I love it or not! At night it is busy here once everyone gets home and is hungry! When you are used to being out of the house by 7:15 and gone until 4 or 5 it is strange to have no schedule to follow. So I read, clean, cook and sew. Plus, I take the dogs over to the river for a few hours in the afternoon.

I second the idea....quitting the day job is wonderful...it is the beginning of my second year at home and I am busier than I have ever been....only difference is: I make my own lists, schedules and do my fun stuff whenever I can. Yippee!!! And like you Sheryl-lyn I am home alone with the dogs....I think I love it!!

And Kathie....if you were home, we could sew and chat and have a cup of tea together....long distance!! (Imagine the phone bill)

Keep Smiling.....Bev

I just got a phone service with ATT that costs 39.99 a month no matter who you talk to and where. If you have separate cable for your computer and don't use a phone line, you connect them together somehow. Yes, I actually had to do it and I am a total FREAKAZOID about all those wires, but I got it done. (Ok, after I had to call the company and have them stay on my dh cellphone while I did it all again!) But, it does work great and it is cheap and I can talk to people all over! I have had the service for about 6 months now and there are no "hidden" fees or taxes.

Just close your door at work and make lots of noise and yell occasionally as if some customer was going nuts on you. Slam drawers and move papers all over and just hang out talking with your friends all day. Explain that one customer needed so much of your time that you could not do any work!
