Is everyone looking forward to this month as much as I am? August is ushering us closer to Autumn. Those of you who know me know that is my favorite time of year. I'm sure many of us will still be having summer temps but I will enjoy what is left of summer. Do you all have any plans for this month? We have a family birthday at the end of the month. Our little Violet will be 8 yrs old!

| This Texas heat is something else. I'm ready for the cooler weather and decorating up the house for Fall with many of the items I've made throughout the many years. On Monday I'll be celebrating my birthday. This Sunday hubby and I will go celebrate at my daughter's house with my other children and their hubby's. |

We can have quilting retreat all summer long!
I'm not a sports person but every four years I'm glued to the tv watching the Olympics, not so much for the team sports (except for rugby) but I love watching the young people competing for their countries. One thing that bothers me is the increasing skimpiness of the some of the womens swim suits. Maybe I'm just an old sexist prude but if the women divers have to show their bare butts then so should the men. If I'm out of line here someone please shut me up. |

| Tropical Storm Debbie is headed our way tomorrow with bands of heavy rains and winds. Tis the season in Florida for tropical storms and hurricanes! UGH! It is so hot and humid every day and the Gulf water Temp is close to 90 degrees which if fuel for these storms that come in from the Caribbean. |

I, too, have been glued to the Olympics broadcasts. I love watching the gymnastics and swimming. And we have been watching the golf in the mornings.
I also agree on some of the women's outfits for several of the sports along with the swimsuits. I think the gymnastic outfits are getting skimpier, too, and, IMHO, some of the poses the women gymnasts make are very provacative. |

| I shudder to think of the sand that is getting inside the womens suits in the beach volleyball. You are right about some of the gymnast poses; some of the fault is with the photographers -- they could show them from a different angle. I think a little more modesty and practicality is called for. |

| We're going to take a trip up to the mountains tonight to watch the Perseid meteor shower. It's my favorite summer activity. I injured my knee last week and am not dealing well with crutches so this is an activity I can just sit and enjoy. |

Judith, sorry to hear that you hurt your knee. I hope it gets better soon!
We are leaving on a trip to Alaska tomorrow for 10 days and will return the 23rd. Alaska has been on both of our bucket lists and we look forward to seeing the natural beauty and cooler weather for us! |

| You will love Alaska, Winnie. We were on the first cruise of the season this year. I just spoke with a tour owner in Ketchikan and he said their weather has been very good. |
