I used to follow the virtual porch sitting on the main forum but it's not active anymore. I thought it would be fun to start one on the hen house where we can just share random things. Plus it would be easier for me to post here than trying to go through old posts to find where we talked about something LOL! I hope you all think it's a good idea as well :)

What a great idea Heather I too loved the Virtual Porch so the Wildflower Porch is perfect.
How I wish all of us were sitting on the porch enjoying a glass of ice tea having Wildflower Chit Chat. Of course our porch would need to be large enough to hold us all. I really like this one so Cosy.

The best example for me is - I have no idea where I talked about the twins being born at so I'll show them off here:

Unfortunately they're both boys : ( We're having a lot of bulls this year. We did have another girl:

I was really hoping this one was a girl:

But it's not : ( He's a holstein jersey cross. He's a pretty red color with a white tip on his tail. The good news is I think another dairy farmer is going to buy him to raise for a herd bull. He'll have a happy life taking care of all the ladies LOL!

I love it Heather, porch sitting is one of my favorites! Oh if only we did live close enough to sit and visit.
Your babies are beautiful Heather!

Oh I do love a good porch! We have a screened porch between our house and our garage but right now it's too hot to even think about sitting out there. I love the idea of a virtual porch visit. I'm always up for a nice cool glass of iced tea!

How do you like your tea? I love irish breakfast tea - hot or iced. I also like sweet tea, peach tea, and raspberry tea as long as it's flavored black tea. And constant comet always makes me think of my grandma when I drink it - it was one of her favorites :) I do like herbal teas too - I drink mint, alfalfa and clover, lemon balm, etc.

Heather on another post, I can’t remember where, you mentioned Alfalfa tea. That has me intrigued. I love iced tea with lemon, but also enjoy chamomile and peppermint hot tea.

Ice tea with lemon any kind. I remember Iiving in Savannah GA for 10 years and being introduced to sweet tea. The best tasting tea, but now all these years later I could not drink it, just too sweet!
I have never heard of Alfalfa tea, how does it taste?

We had rain last night and everything is very fresh and muddy. It looks like a lovely day to sit on the porch with my crocheting. I am trying to use up bits and pieces of yarn and making some crocheted flowers for package decorations. I brought out a pitcher of pink lemonade and put together a platter of egg salad sliders to enjoy later if we get hungry visiting. Thank You Heather for reviving the porch.

A little rain can straighten a flower stem. A little love can change a life.

Egg salad sounds delicious! I haven't had that in a long time!!!!! Thanks Julie :)

Debbie - Alfalfa tea is light and refreshing. It's surprisingly sweet. It's just right for when you want something a little more than water on a hot day.

Do you ever feel like for one thing off your to do list there's 7 more added? That's how life's going for me right now. I feel like I'm running 100 mph yet getting no where! Hopefully by the end of the week things will slow down.

I usually always enjoy a cup of herbal tea in the evenings - usually peppermint but chai rooibos is also a favorite.

Iced tea is a must at this time of the year - I usually drink it unsweet or if I am splurging, I'll have a half and half or an Arnold Palmer.

I have been lucky enough to be helping out a friend of a friend who is dealing with his mother's belongings before he puts the house on the market. At my last visit, he gave me an box of books about tea.

I just ordered some alfalfa tea the other day! I’m excited to give it a try!

Lemonade and egg salad sliders!! I’ll be there soon!! :)

Laura, books are so wonderful! I’ve been enjoying a book book titled Seasons at the Farm by Shaye Elliott. (She lives in Eastern Washington about 3 hours from me. :)

Pull-up a rocker Karen and stay a while. I love peppermint tea Laura. I always plant and dry my own to enjoying the winter. This year I have some new flavors. Heather had told me about a strawberry mint she found at her local green house so I started searching for some. I found not only strawberry but also a pineapple mint, an orange chocolate, an apple and just a chocolate. They all smell amazing and in a few more weeks I will start drying them for my teas.

I am planting peppermint, spearmint this year too. I just love the smell of mint, and I too will dry some for tea.
I will look for Alfalfa.
4th of July tomorrow I will still on the porch tomorrow and enjoy the special day.

Heather, your babies are adorable. I hope that Farmer takes the one bull calf! I really wish we could keep Aries forever.

I haven't had any luck finding any fun flavored mint to grow. I was also looking for the strawberry this year, but could only find basic mint.

Several years ago I brought home a small pot of apple mint and planted it out back. It started out in a 4" pot. It has grown! Now it's about 5 feet long, a couple feet high and wide. I'm glad I didn't put it in one of the flower beds! Brad wants to see how big it will get. It smells wonderful and the bees love it! I might try drying some this year.

Ladies I didn’t know there were so many types of mint! I will be searching for some of these. There is an Edible landscape business not too far from us, maybe they will have a good variety.

How's everyone on the porch doing today? We were all prepared for Hurricane Beryl but when we woke up this morning, the cone had shifted northwards a bit more and we are in the clear. I always feel a bit bad because when we can breathe a sigh of relief, it just means someone else has to deal with it. We have some gusty winds but we are on the dry side so no rain to speak of either. My kiddos in East Texas/Arkansas will probably see more of it than we did.

Hope you've all had a good weekend! I'm going to curl up and cross stitch with a cup of rooibos tea for a cozy evening (our storm boards are still up in most of our windows so it's especially cozy in here).

Laura
