Winnie,
I waved as we went by the exit for you yesterday morning!
We are home from taking our girlie back and celebrating her 18th birthday. Can't believe how fast that time went by. All grown almost. We got to spend lots of time with her brothers and it was hard to leave especially when the youngest had a hard time with it. But hopefully it won't be quite so long before we see them again.
Came home to warm summer, (maybe Indian summer?) temps but next week we get this.
So yay! Getting laundry and things done today. Got a lot done on my stitching project. Maybe I'll finish this off yet!

Glad you had a safe trip back, Denise! Now that is what I call a perfect weather forecast next week! Break out the chili, cornbread recipes for a hearty simple fall dinner.

Now we are dipping down there in the temperatures. I spent yesterday afternoon curled up finishing a book.
Today I have my grandson for the morning so we will find some things to do. He likes to play games so we usually do that after he settles in. It's hard to believe he will be starting school next year. He was only 2 when we moved here and we couldn't understand half of what he was saying. Now he is already reading and doing addition, subtraction and he can multiply single numbers. His mom has taught him to read, apparently they need to know how before they start kindergarten. Not sure what they are teaching them if they need to know how to do these things before they get there. Anyway it is always a good day when I get to have him.

Worked on cooking up some apples for applesauce today. Picked apples from our little tree in the backyard.

Love this weather, but the weatherman ways we will be back up in the 90s next weekend. UGH!!

Well, we are waiting for the rerouting of our Thanksgiving day trip departure itinerary. We were scheduled to fly into Tel Aviv - and that airport is closed. The tour company says they are removing all of the Israel stops from the tour and have not said for sure where we will be going instead. I think they will remove the post trip to Jerusalem, too, because that is in the West Bank which is also partially Hamas control. I am hoping they add more days to see Jordan and one of the agents mentioned possibly going to Cypress, which would be very nice. Wouldn't you know when we finally schedule another trip after quite a while and then this happens. Wish us luck!!

We've gotten our flu shots and were schedule for the COVID booster yesterday but cancelled because I'm having my usual bout with allergies. I took an older COVID test to be sure it wasn't COVID and it was definitely negative. I probably could have had the shot but because I have reacted to all of them so far with a high fever that breaks overnight.

Linda, I am sorry your big trip coincides with a serious war in Israel and Palestine. Perhaps the company would refund your money and you can go again when it all settles and see the things you were looking forward to seeing.

We have not yet heard how they are rerouting our trip - for sure they are taking out Israel. We have to wait for them to tell us how they are changing the trip to decide. Unfortunately, if they cancel the trip we would get all our money back, but if we cancel, we would need to get reimbursed by using our trip insurance and that would cost us almost $1800.

We are getting our fall rain today and honestly I love it!
Today is my daughter's birthday so this morning I took a bouquet of flowers and a balloon over to her. She was up but not dressed for the day yet. Lol. Then I came home while she did some errands and then I took her out for a birthday lunch. I brought the little man home with me as she had a hair appt and it much easier to go alone than try to entertain a 4yr old while getting a hair cut. Lol. Just wanted to makes her day special. We are going to their place tomorrow night to celebrate with them and a few friends for dinner.

Today we got an email and telephone call. We have to decide by Nov. 2. Instead of flying into TelAviv, Israel, we will fly into Cyprus and see several sites in Cyprus and Eqypt on the smaller boat (instead of Israel and Egypt), then Egypt, then Jordan (they added 2 additional days in Amman), and then instead of Jerusalem we would have 4 nights in Istanbul, Turkey. They are interesting additions, but there is still unrest in a lot of the Middle East. There is a lot to think about. Ed would go for sure, I am the worrier and am a bit hesitant.

Yes Linda you just never know. Do you have to accept the new package or can you get refunded since it is not what you signed up for?

Even Ed is getting hesitant to go - we don't know yet. We can get a "coupon" for the amount we paid, but that is a lot out of our bank account. Still definitely would be safer than going. Ed's son, his wife and our grandson are scheduled to go to Jordan with a 1-night stop in Istanbul in early Nov. Not sure if they will go, either.

Linda, this is a complicated problem of your trip. It seems like the ethical thing for the company to do is to cancel the trip and refund the customers. All this move here and there and changes that you never signed up for seem a bit wrong and fishy. The problem is that the entire Middle East is in an uproar and once the big invasion happens, who knows what other countries are going to do and support. Surely there is a safer time in the future to see your original plans and not be in the midst of an armed conflict.

I appreciate all your concerns. We feel the same way. We are most likely NOT going on the revised trip - too much is happening. We are trying to find a tour to another part of the world - where there is no fighting. We are possibly looking at Portugal and the Canary Islands, but the dates are different. Oh, well. We will go SOMEwhere, just not sure when or where.
