Our early fall days have been awesome. The temps are perfect and the leaves are turning already. We have many on the ground. A busy weekend ahead.

Thanks Winnie, it's good to be back.

Linda, your trip sounds wonderful.

Looks like everyone is busy with fall. Went to our local apple orchard and picked up some Sweet Tango apples. They are so good and oh so fresh. Every time I go our local orchard I think of Winnie! lol Apple and Winnie go together in my mind! lol

It's turning out to be a gorgeous fall. The leaves here have already started to change. I'm such a 4 season gal.

I pretty sure you've heard me complain about where I live, out in the country, with no access to fresh vegetables unless I drive an hour away. I'll admit my container gardening experience has not been the best. Well, we now have a local organic dairy farm that sells their milk. OMG, stopped by the other day and picked up a half gallon (they do not package gallons).

It's quite nice and so creamy I drink a gallon of organic 1% milk a week. Because it's not homogenized, I'm thinking I can skim the fat off and reduce the whole milk to 1%. I need to make the time to see if Mary Jane's cow book has any info on that.

Aside from that, school is keeping me out of trouble.

Keep well everyone!

Carole skim that off and make your own butter!
Good to see you again. Glad to hear you are getting some change going on too. Our leaves are turning. We have a trip coming up and I know when we return the leaves will be changed much more.

Denise, Great Idea. I do love homemade butter. Not sure if I let it stand long enough but the cream was not on top. We'll see how it is tomorrow.

So, what is on everyone's bucket list to finish up September and welcome October? This week we are having another week of summer heat, humidity, and thunderstorms. On the other hand, there is something so beautiful about October to me. Even here in Florida, the shortening of the days does slow the pace of life down which only happens in Fall. October is the time I love to sit out on our porch and read in the afternoons. Hopefully, it will cool down enough to enjoy doing that. Also, the month is sandwiched between the hustle and bustle of a new school year starting and the madness of the Christmas rush that builds up in November. It is a month of between, and one can enjoy better weather and altering the menu to reflect the arrival of fresh apples, pumpkins, squashes and cold weather greens. Casseroles and baked chicken seem more desirable, and annual fall colored Mums brighten any table or porch area. Plus, the colors we wear reflect the outward changes. Put away are the hot pinks, oranges, greens and replaced with more subtle versions that fit more of the landscape colors. October is a month where transition is most noticeable to me. Down here, because of the year round warmth, the year's seasonal changes arrive slowly and very quietly. October, I think. reveals those changes more clearly because the daylight length continues to shorten. It just can't get as hot as summer months because the sun goes to sleep earlier. Thank Heaven!!

We live all over the US so each area has its own patterns of Fall. What about your home state in October? What do you see and what to you look forward to the most In October? I am curious!

I love that saying Winnie! Our leaves are already turning and it is time for our girl to go back home. Makes me sad but will be good to see the rest of the family.

September days are here then gone
She leaves behind her transient song
Through paths of green then golden vale
She walks and calls, "So long! Farewell!"

September days are here then gone
She never stays around too long
Her fleeting star flies through the sky
We watch in awe and wave goodbye.
