Is anyone else having wonky weather? Yesterday it was 58 and we had a thunderstorm!! In January!!! Today it's a high of 34 and there were some beautiful snow flurries falling this morning. Of course the muddy ground isn't cold enough for them to stick around, but they were still beautiful LOL!

In Washington State too! Wonky weather, I mean. It’s been unusually wet and rainy. But today bright blue skies and super sunny yet freezing! :)

Here in Indiana is much the same. We are supposed to be getting a couple inches of snow in the morning. It's pretty to look at, but I push carts all day and it is hard to do through snow.

Karen - do you usually have rain instead of snow in January?

Debi - what part of the state are you in? My parents live in Charlotte - just south of Lansing.

Hannah - I'll gladly take your snow for you - just send it a little further east LOL!

Heather, we get some rain but usually more snow in January. Average rain in January is under 1 inch. Snowfall is usually about 5 inches in the month. We have more issues with freezing rain but the temps have been higher this year. :)

Thanks Hannah! Some of the snow made it here as well!!! I'm so excited :) It's the quiet, peaceful snow that you can stand outside and enjoy. Not the blustery, hurry up and get inside kind LOL!

Is that where you work? Beautiful pictures!

I am glad you got some snow, Heather! It was really nice here too. It was not windy at all and melted as fast as it fell on the asphalt, so it didn't affect my cart pushing. Those pictures are from right beside where I work. I actually work at the Walmart, but the nature preserve runs along side of our parking lot. These particular pictures are from the side I see when I walk to the bus stop to collect carts in the morning.

Debbie, do you basically get rain instead of snow, then?

That's pretty mild! I think our average is about 10 degrees lower, but the way the weather acts anymore, you just never know. Haha!

Hey everyone, got a little time to post something. First of all, I'm so envious of all the beautiful snow!! Last week we had our first tornado hit home. Usually when the weather is bad, the tornadoes hit all around us but last week we had over 30 hit in SE Alabama. Over 9 people were killed in Selma, an hour away. Sara had just gotten out of school and we were on the road 5 minutes from home when it went right over us. Trees everywhere and our 2 roads, 324 and 325 were covered in snapped pine trees and uprooted huge trees. Lots of homes were damaged as was the school and our one and only po. I was 1/4 mile from our house but couldn't get to it for 3 hours. Praise God i had my dog with us and the house wasn't damaged since we had no trees around it but MANY of our mature trees have been uprooted or broken. Dannys still in Africa too. So today I worked 4 hours picking up branches and limbs. Tomorrow early am the same kind of front is coming through again with warnings. I must say, I was pretty flippant about the weather before, now I'm not. Send snow!! And prayers!!;)

Whoo Heather! If you still want snow, you can sure take this round off my hands. It is not playing nice like the last time. Wet and heavy and covering the parking lot fast!

It's here too, but I'll take yours as well LOL! I LOVE snow and we haven't had nearly enough. It's supposed to turn to rain this afternoon then back to snow this evening.

Dianna - Prayers that the front just brings wind and not tornadoes!

Honestly, though I grumble, I love snow too. I just don't like it at work. Our temps are barely cold enough for it to be snow, it's melting in soggy clumps off trees and roofs as fast as it falls and the parking lot looks like a big dirty bowl of sorbet punch. Did you ever drink that at a party growing up? Lol!

Hehe! What a fun thought, but no. I think we may be having a lost in translation moment. I was meaning the actual punch containing, if memory serves right, some form of a Sprite and juice mix with big globs of frozen sorbet floating on top. As it melted, the sorbet would get foamy and the punch would get slushy. The parking lot reminded me of that punch, only dirty white instead of the pretty colors the punch used to have.
