Winnie,
It is a blanket that has squares sewn together or rather quilted in and the squares have tiny glass beads in them. It is heavy. My granddaughters probably weighs 5 or 6 lbs. Mine weighs 12. It isn't so much for warmth as it is for comfort. Many feel it helps to calm anxiety and such for those of us who deal with that. Though they are warm just due to the material some are made from. I won't be able to use mine in summer due to that. |

My blanket is about 16 pounds; I think 12 would be better.

| Winnie, I bought because it seemed to help my granddaughter and dealing with anxiety is no fun. I do think it helps me personally. I'm not sure how it helps in other situations or why others choose to use them. |
