The beginning of a new month is always a fresh start! I'm enjoying getting things in order and the space we have is great. Feeling like I'm going to keep things spacious at the next place.
We probably won't do much for the 4th. Have to get everything ready for house pictures on Tuesday.

I'm so excited for you Denise. I remember the countdown for getting ready to move. So much to do and a lot of it can't be done til the last minute. I had my X system for packing -- boxes that had to be unpacked right away had XXX on them, ones that were important but not immediate had XX and ones that could go into the garage and wait awhile had X on them. Since my daughter was getting married 6 days after we moved the box with the cake pans and decorating stuff was in a XXX box :-)

That sounds like a great way to organize Judith! Taking all the tips I've been given.

Denise, it is indeed exciting to be in the month when so much will happen towards your move to Ohio! I know you are going to be happy to finally get settled in your new place. And just in time for Fall to arrive too!!

We started off July watching Tropical storm Elsa, sometimes Hurricane Elsa, make a beeline towards Florida with a good possibility to meander up the west coast and cut across the state where I live Tuesday into Wednesday.. It is a bit early for a hurricane so maybe it will remain a rain event only. We are absolutely saturated down here with water. I don't know where we would even put another 10 inches of rain!! It is looking like a very soggy July 4th as well.

July came in Cool here, lows in the mid 60s and high in mid 80s with winds from the North for 2 days. I was soo Thankful! I was in heaven! I got to go outside for longer time and tend to my flower bed and Patio pots. I got some Green tomatoes and a lot of Blooms! Heat is back today.
We had our 4th of July Supper with Holly and Lily June on the 2nd, they are out of town today. I am enjoying a quiet day inside reading and catching up on Mary Janes farm and emails.
Denise, Im so excited for your move and you have gotten a lot of hard work out of the way!

Happy 4th!
Connie

I heard from an acquaintance in Alaska today. She said there were no fireworks there. "It's light all day -- why bother?" she said. That is something that never occurred to me before.

Connie,
Such pretty flowers. My nephew arrived Saturday and after our picnic lunch yesterday he and JT went out to work in the yard. While JT mowed Chris went all around with the weed eater and when he finished that he took down the fencing from the chicken yard so that could be mowed in there. He also dismantled an old fence along the driveway. Looks so much better now.

Today for us are some projects on the house. The guys are taking out the washer, dryer, vanity and commode in order to put new flooring in the upstairs bathroom. So far so good. Im glad i get to enjoy it for a little while. JT finished the walls behind our woodstove in the family room a few weeks ago. It has been unfinished for years. Ever since we put the stove in the family room. He is just not one of those guys that enjoys doing it himself but he hates to pay someone.

Anyway, here's a photo of the wall he did.

There have been 300 views of the house on the realtor's website. Crossing our fingers people start looking. We still have a few more small jobs to do to make the house more appealing.

Oh, boy, Denise. JT is a perfect match with my husband when it comes to not wanting to do it himself (even though he can), but really doesn't want to pay someone. In fact, we've had the paint for the two bathrooms and 2 bedrooms for 4 months (because it was on sale), but it is still in the cans in the house. LOL

Add mine to the list, too, and he's a retired carpenter. It's like the cobblers kids have no shoes. And the few times we've hired jobs done, like roofing and tree-trimming, he was so critical I felt sorry for the men who were actually doing the work.

I think the thing he hates most is plumbing. That is one thing though, he is in the security business so we do have security here.

The walls of stone are beautiful with the flooring below. JT did a beautiful job! Enjoy the home upgrades too.

Today, Warren is outside putting together a small storage box for some equipment. We have a carport and no garage so storing things is always a huge challenge. Poor guy, it is hot and humid outside and he is in the drive away putting together the pierces . The sweat is literally dripping off of his face and his clothes are drenched. I’ve been taking lots of fluids out to him too. When he told me he was getting this storage thing, I thought it was something already put together and then this huge box was delivered last night by UPS. It is cheaper to put it together yourself!! Me, if I couldn’t have it already put together and delivered to my house, I guess I would just do without whatever he is going to put in it!!! LOL!!!

Winnie, I agree. It will be nice for you to have the storage though.
Today has been cooler so the new door jam and new storm door are being put on. They finished putting everything back in the bathroom today letting the adhesive for the linoleum set overnight. Only a couple more house things then on to cleaning up the garage and shed. After that it will likely be time to pack up the rest. I don't know how much will get done next week as JT has an install to do. I'm glad he has Chris here to help. It looks like rain so I'm glad they are finishing up.
I am glad all these things are being done even though we are moving. Isn't that the way?

Beautiful wall Denise. My husband hates finishing projects as well. I just hire a carpenter now and listen to the grumbling. Give him a piece of farm equipment that is broke and he willl have it fixed in no time, house repairs not so much.

It has been a busy few weeks here. My daughter and I flew to Phoenix for a few days to visit my mom. For those of you who live in those hot temps I feel for you. I can’t do the 111. It doesn’t even help when they say it is a dry heat. We arrived back home in time to enjoy 4th of July festivities with family and friends and finish up helping the grandkids with their 4H fair projects. We just wrapped up a very long week Of fair. They showed a lot of animals and it was fun cheering on their successes. My main job was keeping the almost 3 year old from getting run over by the many hooves. She loves to be a part of everything and thinks every animal is as tame as the ones at home. She and Oliver are spending the night and after very necessary baths they quickly fell asleep. I am looking forward to a few quiet days at home before we start cutting hay.

A little rain can straighten a flower stem. A little love can change a life.

Julie,
I saw your photos and it looked like they were having a wonderful time. I used to love the fair but it was very tiring. Always loved when we took the animals to show. Mostly did cows.
