We went to my daughter's tonight. Our grandson was here overnight and all day with us. It's nice when they start getting to where they want to do things for you. We got a lot done with an extra pair of hands and strong arms. We were there to celebrate his birthday which is on Tuesday but this was the day everyone would be home.
The roads were quite slick. It was freezing rain earlier when we were going over. Glad they live close. The roads crews had salted the roads while we were there and it was much better driving back. So now we are settled in enjoying the woodstove and a movie.

That sounds like a perfect evening. We've been watching it snow on and off all day. We kept our 3 yr old granddaughter for awhile this afternoon. She helped me with some cookies and sewing some pajama pants for her cousin. Her parents had gone into town and brought dinner home for the 4 of us.
Does anyone else love that feeling when you wake up at night and you just know that it's snowing because it's so quiet???
I'm glad you made it home safe, Denise....freezing rain is no fun.

Glad you are able to spend quality time with your grandkids, Denise. All of you with the current freezing, snowy, and frigid temps be careful! We are getting drowned with one rain deluge after another this weekend. It is one soggy mess down here and no real change in forecast for a few more days. The local rivers are expected to flood over the weekend. We have had over 2 1/2 inches of rain in the past 24 hours and more keeps coming.

I got out my cotton yarn scraps and have been knitting a few Spring friends for for fun. Simple patterns and a few mad up ones just thinking about Easter and chickens etc. Nothing special but it has been fun. Sometimes this kind of piddling about inspires me to do something useful. Sometimes I piddle for fun just to be able to NOT have a pattern or any pressure to do anything except to just wander down a path and see what happens. Do any of you like to do this, or do you prefer to always work from a pattern for a specific outcome?

Winnie ,I think piddling for fun is a good way to go.
I do that a lot more restful for me but I find I need that structured way as well so I know what I am doing.

Be careful out there I heard we are all really going to be hit by hard wet and cold weather.
Stay dry and safe out there.

I love you all!
Blessings

Isn’t having the grandkids over the best. We had our 2 year old granddaughter twice this week. She sure makes our days brighter.I delivered A Valentine basket to the grands who live close by yesterday. With the bitter cold temps lately and lots of indoor time I put together a jigsaw basket for them. It had a wooden puzzle for the 2 year old, a 3D Batman puzzle for the 7 year old and 2 1000 piece puzzles for the teenagers. I added chips, root beer and a pail of ice cream. Everyone was excited to start doing puzzles and have root beer floats.of course I had to create a corny card to go with it.

Making prime rib and crab legs for supper tonight and have a butterscotch desert in the fridge. As much as we would love to go out for supper, the negative temps convince us to stay home.

Sounds lime a fun time for your grands Julie! The kids are coming over later. I forgot to give their Valentine's last night when we went over. We are waiting to be called for our table at Olive garden at the moment and then when we get back the kids will come over.

Julie, that sounds like a lot of fun for them! We were just playing Yahtzee after lunch and thought it might be fun to pull out a puzzle and get one started.

Winnie, sometimes it's the "piddling" that we do for fun that ends up creating something really clever!

Doing a bit of quick catching up.

Denise your floss cabinet is nice. Certainly helps keeps the bobbins organized. I use plastic bins designed for that. I think they are from the company Artbin. I also use them to organize the many projects I'm working on. Though, I am proud to say a few are empty now. lol

Julie, ah renovations ... a distance memory for me. I've been looking at properties (still dreaming about my little farmhouse ... I want my chickens! lol) and I don't think I have it in me to renovate a house again. I've done it twice now, gutted, insulated etc .... What's out there is not pretty and screams renovations! Oh well ....

Judith, so glad you had an opportunity to meet with quilting friends. Do you gals bring show and tell? When ever my group meets we always have show & tell. Of course Diane is our prolific finisher! lol She inspires us to get going on our projects. lol

Stay warm everyone ... Interesting how in the past I could only say that to a selective few ... the northern people!

Today is the day! The bathroom will be officially finished. It is beautiful and has been a long 3 weeks. I am spending the weekend getting everything organized in there and doing a deep clean of my house. We have Sheetrock dust everywhere. We are going to take a very short break and start on the office. Not a lot to do in there, new carpet, paint and add some shelving. By the time we finish that project it will be time to get my seedlings started.

Woo hoo! Ed and I are both scheduled for first vaccination shot at 9:00 am on Wednesday. We have to drive about 55 miles, but this is an indoor site through our doctors office. And by Wednesday the roads should have no more ice.

There are also lots of antique shops in the town so hopefully some shops will be open. Make the drive a double duty one.

I get my first shot Monday at 2:30. Yippee! This is just too funny because I have never ever been happy to get a shot before.

Julie, enjoy your long awaited for and planned bathroom renovation! Changes can be very uplifting and fun.

Linda, glad you and Ed are scheduled for your first vaccine! We have both received our second dose last week. . While I know it won't change our patterns that much right now, I feel relieved to have the series completed.

We will not start eating out and doing more than we are now. Plus - we wear our masks and social distance as much as possible.

Saw where some people who were vaccinated were getting Covid after 3 wks from their shots. Not sure what that means. I know those who would get the flu even though they had been vaccinated for it.

I am not sure where my energy comes from either Denise. I do still have to take a short nap everyday, they tell me that should get better soon. I have the older granddaughters helping this weekend, so many hands make light work. By Monday our temps are supposed to be 44 and I am planning to spend some time in the fresh air, should be a good day to put fresh bedding in the girls coop. They kept us in fresh eggs even during the coldest of days so the least I can do is give them some fresh straw. I think I need to get my chick order in for the year as well, this nationwide cold snap has created havoc at the hatcheries and they might be hard to get.

I have been going to work with JT this week. I have been spending way too much time alone over the past months and has not been good. I have been able to help on jobs which is good because he does it all himself right now. He enjoys the company. Things go faster working together.
How is everyone else doing this month? Seems everyone is busy.

Darlene, have you had any updates on your knee surgery?

I got my first vaccine this week. Arm a little sore. Warning - when you get the shot get it on the side you don't sleep on. I didn't plan well :-(. It feels just like a tetanus shot. No biggie.

JT bought me an Amish made big birdfeeder yesterday and I was thinking about your bird friend. Crow right? Does he still come around?
